[Luke scoots over a little bit. He's aware, distantly, that usually he's not this friendly with people. But it's dampened by the fact that it's a chilly sort of night and he's kind of lonely and he really, really wants to hug this cute person next to him for no particular reason.

Oh.

He doesn't, though he grins a bit and reaches down to grab the pinwheel.]

I don't mind at all. It's nice to meet you-- I'm Luke.

[He blows into the pinwheel briefly, making it spin.]

The only wind spirits I know of are tiny monsters. I didn't think they could talk. That's different worlds for you, though.

[Eley's not the kind of person to walk so boldly up to strangers himself unless he has a particular reason to, and tonight it seemed that a desire to be rather more physically closer to others was enough of a reason for him. He had enjoyed the few hugs he'd received from his friends, yes, but things seemed a bit different this evening, he had to admit. There was an odd yearning for that embrace, and it didn't seem to matter to him whether he knew the recipient or not.

...he finds himself watching Luke intently, as if trying to work out why he should feel that way towards him. Whilst also wondering if he should just reach out and cuddle him for some reason.]

Hm. I am Eleytheria... though some have taken to calling me 'Eley' if that is easier for you. [Or 'Fluffs' or whatever other nickname he might come out with.] While I admit that I do not usually appear before humans in this form, the term 'monster' would appear somewhat insulting to my kind. Though... as you say, the rules are different on different worlds.

Elythr... er, yeah, Eley is easier. [He rubs at the back of his head, feeling bad for screwing up the guy's name. He can feel the spirit's eyes on him. Being a naturally shy kind of person, his cheeks turn a little pink and he finds himself looking somewhere else.]

Sorry, I didn't mean monster as an insult. It's just another term for animals and... things.

[It didn't seem to offend him at all, thankfully. Eley had become used to people having trouble with it here.

Truthfully, he could tell that Luke didn't mean any harm by using that term either. There were many creatures from different worlds that he had never come across before and he had no doubt they would all be called different things by different people.

If he treated him like a monster, that would be another thing altogether.]

Animals perhaps but... 'things'? I cannot imagine the term 'monster' being attributed to inanimate objects. They do not usually have sentient feelings.

[He may have just taken that a little too literally, oops.]

[Luke isn't human, though he's not about to volunteer that information unless it becomes relevant.]

Hahah, well, there's... fon machines that attack us, sometimes, and these weird blobs that I'm not sure are animals. And spirits, of course. So yeah. Other things.

[Eley is a dork, but Luke is happy to try to explain. Sort of.]

Fon machines...? I have come into contact with a lot of strange technology here but I have not heard of machines such as those. Still... they cannot be a good thing if they were made only to attack others. Machines... should not be used as weapons.

[At least that's what Eley thinks. Technology back on his world wasn't very advanced so there weren't many machines made for battle. Eley would still never condone their invention, however.]

They were from another... age. No one uses fon machines like that anymore, except maybe Dist, but his are still different. [As in, they'll jump into the water and commit suicide because they're stupid.] A lot can change in a couple thousand years. Maybe they weren't made to attack people originally, but they can't tell what's what anymore. You know?
