[No signing just means that Marco gets to hear more of Jean's voice, which is always a bonus. Not that he doesn't appreciate the sentiment of Jean practicing sign language alongside him- it helps Marco's own practice and adds a sense of support. Still, talking is so much nicer. So much easier. So much more normal.

His hand gives Jean's a strong squeeze once that love-sick look's passed (don't think he hadn't noticed, because he had), thumb rubbing against the side of Jean's palm. Dude, he had more food than he'd have back home in a week. It's kind of embarrassing.]

[Marco is allowed to notice...! (But if he were to point it out, Jean might get embarrassed.)

He will get to hear plenty of Jean's voice later on in the night, although the words will be a lot less coherent and involve a lot more cursing. For now, he'll just keep filling Marco in on the different foods he tried, eventually moving onto the people he ran into.]

You know who's here? Haruka. [A pause for effect, because really, he's still surprised.] I know what you're thinking, and I'll have you know I was 100% civil to him. We actually got along for once. Are you proud or what?

[By now, they're almost far enough from the crowd to settle down.]

[Considering it's a lake festival and over half the village is here, Marco isn't too surprised to hear that Haruka showed up. Sure, the guy doesn't show much interest in a lot of things, but there's good food and a lake. Both those features would appeal to Haruka, at least. What's more surprising is that Jean didn't pick a fight with him for once.

He is, indeed, very proud. He'll show it by smiling and giving Jean's hand a firm squeeze. Good boyfriend, best partner.]

[That smile and the solid squeeze were just what he was looking for. Finally, away from the noise of the festival, where it becomes easy to feel like they're the only two people at the lake, Jean stops.]

Right here should be good. [He'll reluctantly let go of Marco's hand to unfold the blanket he had grabbed and spread it over the still brownish grass, crouching down to smooth it out. Taking a seat, he gestures for Marco to join him, not that he thinks any prompting is necessary. Earlier, among the crowd, they had enjoyed the festival as best friends, but now they're free to enjoy it as something more.]

[Indeed, the prompting wasn't necessary at all. Marco waits for Jean to finish smoothing the blanket out, then takes a seat by his side almost immediately. His legs are bent sideways so he can lean against his boyfriend's shoulder with more easy and he won't hesitate to seek out the nearest hand with one of his own again. The more physical contact, the better.]

[He folds his legs to mirror Marco, leaning against his shoulder. His arm crosses behind his boyfriend's back, to place a supporting hand on the blanket, as close to Marco as possible. With just a turn of his head and a little straining, he can plant a kiss on Marco's ear. He stays like that, and when he speaks, his voice is soft for once.]

I'm glad we could get away like this.
