You're tellin' me. I almost got busted a few times. [And he DID get busted a few times too.]

On the run, rider on the edge? That sounds like a sexy caper, man. Please tell me you at least impressed a few people.

I'm sure I had some people gossipin' when it was all said and done. [Admittedly this is one time he wasn't watching to see people's reactions.]

[ And he takes a longer sip from his hot chocolate, considering that... ]

Wish I could have seen it. Honestly, I was in a weird mood that trip.

Oh yeah? You know, I don't even remember seein' much of you on that trip, all things considered. [A large gulp is taken after that.]

Well, remember how everyone seemed to be having new fears around then? I was a little afraid of being around people who knew me too well.

[ Which is weird but... it's greater manifestation of a certain insecurity he thinks he gets ]

Maaan, you should be glad you didn't see me then. I had the opposite problem. I couldn't stand the idea of bein' away from people. [that was a terrible couple of weeks to go through. It hit way too close to home for him.]

Eeesh. Well, we did run into each other in the room here and there if you recall. I just was spending a lot of time trying to pursue this one girl.

So who was the unlucky lady of the week there?

Okay first, I resent that remark. [ He holds up one finger for that, but then holds a second ] Second, he name was Faris, and she was from that enclosure called X.

Ahh, forbidden love~! [He clasps his hands together and cradles his head against them. And then he stops, drooping his arms down to his sides.]

So you're going after girls from the other enclosures now, huh?

Hey, hey. I'll have you know I've had a whirlwind romance or two on missions before now too.

[mischiefbreeder]

You know you'll never see those girls again, right?

[generalflirt]

I know it's unlikely anyway.

[ And he makes for a long sip of his mug here, almost emptying it. Because he knows that's irresponsible and - frankly - a little shallow. But it's nice to feel even a simulation of that sort of spark. ]

Ahh well. [He knocks back the rest of his hot chocolate, finishing it off.]

Don't worry about it. I get you're just tryin' to find your own place in life.

[ ... Gold's younger than him. Not sure if he should be like... well, he can't deny the guy's right, anyway. ]

[To his credit, Pokémon trainers mature really early emotionally. Something about becoming accountable adults at age 10 or something.]

[ and he smirks all the wider, leaning in a little to tap him on the shoulder with the back of his fist ]

C'mon, man, who you tryin' to kid here? [He goes to brush at Masaomi's fist with his other hand.]

Everyone.

[ And his smile becomes a little wider still, and perhaps a little more sincere. Because it is the truth, but it's also a little funny ]

True enough. [he responds to Masaomi's grin with one of his own, a wholly sincere one. Learn from the master.] But man, would it kill ya to be sincere once in a while?

Probably not. But hey, you never know.
