[His eyes narrow. While he wouldn't purport to know Sasuke especially well, they've talked on several occasions, and both of them, it seemed, had done so in a way that they rarely did with others. Levi doubts that he would have forgotten it so easily.

He elevates his chin a little, looking for- he's not sure what. Signs of abnormality, though if it's not glaringly obvious, Levi would have no idea what to focus on.]

Somehow you don't strike me as the kind of person to forget conversations or people so easily.

You're Sasuke, aren't you?

[hishatred]

I am not.

[Itachi's whole demeanor is more calm. Polite. Old in a way he manages to deliver even in a younger form.]

This body is only on loan to me for now, as he is borrowing mine.

[The doing of this place, of course, and not of their own choosing.]

I am his brother.

[reviling]

[the more he speaks, the more Levi can tell the difference. Speech and mannerisms are more formal than Sasuke had ever displayed, but still, Levi has to frown.]

Borrowing each other's bodies? Sounds fucked up.

[He doesn't quite understand, but apparently the Malnosso aren't just screwing with people's physical forms, but their minds as well.

There's a slight change in his expression. The first time they'd met, Sasuke had imparted the wrenching story of him and his brother, using the Sharingan. It's not something Levi can forget easily.]

His brother. Itachi, was it?

[hishatred]

[He nods.] It is.

And it would not be the first time this has happened, though it's been a while.

[Granted, the last time was with another version of his brother completely - an issue he still didn't care to think about. They were all Sasuke.]

[reviling]

[that makes him quick an eyebrow.]

When was the last time?

[hishatred]

Three and a half years from a full trade. Three years ago I had his form when he wasn't even present.

[Which will make it obvious that it didn't involve the teen exactly as he is now.]

... It has been a while.

[reviling]

[Levi is trying to recall Itachi's own face as he speaks with him, thinking back on the visions that Sasuke had shown him: taller, longer hair, a face more lined with something he can't quite guess, but no exactly age. The eyes...those were very similar, and not just because of that strange redness.]

Three and a half years...how long have you been in this place?

[hishatred]

Four years at the end of August.

[A long time, he knows, though there are still those who've been in the village longer - even if that number continues to dwindle. It's enough time to have seen his brother come and go multiple times. Sometimes remembering having been there before, sometimes not.]
