That's fine. I have a deal with the owners, and I get food for free.

[Technically true. She had made a deal with the Malnosso for the castle shift, so she's not lying there. And it's easier than explaining the lack of money.]

Get whatever you'd like.

[Now that is a truly awed face. Offering a child whatever he wants? He must be in heaven, and now he has no doubt at all that she's someone very powerful indeed.]

Anything I'd like? Really?

Anything. And as much as you can eat safely and not spoil your dinner.

[She won't let him overeat. Even if she does pig out when she's a child.]

Wow... [He's very well-behaved, though; he browses around all the possibilities, and picks out one small sweet for himself, a little bun filled with a berry jam.] Is this okay?

Of course. You can take a second, if you like. It's very small.

[She wanders over to a basket and pulls out a sausage bun of her own, gobbling it up. Oh...it's good Neji didn't remember her, or the image of the polite, upstanding goddess would be spoiled forever.]

Oh - thank you. [He does take a second, far be it from him to refuse when the prospect is dangled in front of him.]

[Nom-nom, it's a good sausage and it's all gone.]

So, now that you have a treat, is there anything you'd like to do? A game you like? Or something you like to see?

[screw_fate]

[Neji chews on his piece of bun and then tilts his head, thinking.] What... what is there to see? I don't know what this place is.

[windandrain]

All sorts of things. [Her tail wags as she snuffles the door open again.]

We could go to the playground. Or the forest. Or the sea.

[screw_fate]

To the sea? I've never been there before... [Neji looks eager to see it, although he doesn't get too loud or excited. It's not the Hyuuga way, after all.] I'm from the forest.

[windandrain]

Well, we can go. You'll have to push a button for me though, alright?

[screw_fate]

I can do that! [Giving a child the chance to help, and to do things for himself? That's always a winner.]

[windandrain]

[Well it's important, okay!]

Then follow! See if you can keep up!

[She'll start off towards the barracks at a slow doggy trot, not wanting to lose him, and not sure how fast a ninja child can run.]

[Neji trots along at a good pace; he's not the powerful specialist he'll grow into, able to run tirelessly for hours, but he's strong for his age, already starting the very basics of honing his body.]

How does pushing a button take us to the sea?

[windandrain]

A magic machine. You'll see when we get there!

[Their easy almost loping pace will gave them at the Barracks shortly. It's hardly a long run, and Luceti's village isn't exactly difficult to navigate.]

Magic?

[It earns her a wide-eyed stare of fascination.]

Does it fly us to the sea like a bird?

[windandrain]

Actually...yes! In a way, it does.

[screw_fate]

Really?!

[Aww, he sounds so excited.]

I wanna see it! Yay!

[windandrain]

Well, alright, here we go.

[She pushes open the barracks door with her nose and trots over to the teleporter.]

This is the magic machine. When you push the button, we'll be at the beach in the blink of an eye. It's like traveling as fast as the wind. Just a blink, and we'll be there.

[screw_fate]

Oh. That's different from flying.

[He blinks, thinking about that.]

That's still really cool, though!

[windandrain]

Well flying we could do...but it'd take a lot more time. And I'd rather take you flying at the beach, if you want to go.

[She hops up onto the teleporter pad and wags her tail.]

You need to come up here, and push the little red button. Can you do that?

[screw_fate]

I can do that! I get to make the magic happen... [He's bouncing on his heels a little now, failing to keep the proper Hyuuga calm that he's been starting to learn.]

[windandrain]

[She lets her mouth hang open in a happy doggy smile.]

Then push it and let's go!

Okay!

[He runs over to the button and gives it a nice, firm, hard push, feeling tremendously grown-up at getting to do something like that.]

[And just like that, they're suddenly at the beach! Poof! Saori the Dog hops off the teleporter, tail wagging.]
