Who: Everyone!
What: First Annual Luceti Tournament
When: May 2nd
Where: Battle Dome
Summary: Peony has made good on his promise to set up a tournament and today is the day for all the action.
Rating: PG-13 for the violence/fighting/possible language.

Finally the promised day has arrived! As competitors and audiences alike gather for the start, the whole outside area draws the eye to the grand carpet and banners with symbols for every event. There is also a table being restocked with free snacks and water bottles for those waiting around or still finding their way. Most notably, though, is a signboard with the times for all the events and competitors.

Whether you're competing or here for the entertainment, however, it's hoped you'll enjoy the events and fight or cheer hard! Now without further ado, make your own threads or comment around and let the games begin...

-Oh, you want to find me something? Hey, if you've got pretzels, I'm all over those. I'll accept anything Raine-san were to offer, though.

[ Well, if she just suggested he stay put, she might as well get him something. ]

I'll see if they have any. Or something similar. Hang on.

[ And she'll duck out unless he has something to add to that -- there's a table filled with snacks outside. She finds a sandwich roll that's probably more filling, and there is indeed a pretzel, so she'll head back in with that and a drink shortly. ]

[ By then he vacates the patient resting bed thing to instead sit in a nearby chair. After all, someone else might need to be looked at before then! It hurts, a little. But it's mostly healed, and he's got to sit here to watch more. When Raine comes back he waves to show where he is ]

[ Ah. There he is. And she had been finished examining and healing him up, so it works out. ]

Here you go. They had a few things to choose from.

[ He stands to get them, smiling a bit ] Thank- you, Raine-san.

Though actually, unless there's an injured fellow up next, I do have a question to ask.

Oh? [ She glances around. Looks like one of the others grabbed the next one... ] It seems I still have time, so go ahead.

Okay... and. Are you seeing someone right now?

'Seeing someone'? [Masaomi what.] ... Are you... referring to dating?

Yeah, that's what I was beating around.

Why would you need to know something like that?

Just a little curious!

Curious, huh. [ Her smile is faint, but she shakes her head. ] I don't know why you'd put so much thought to something like that in a place like this.

Hey, you've probably head me say it, "love is a leveler." It's true I'm the poster child for how love doesn't always work out, but it's not like people have never bonded in adversity before.

[ His smile grows a bit more wide and his shifts his head to face Raine better ] Maybe I'm just hoping you have something to milk out some joy.

Well, there are other avenues for that. I have teaching, and my work at Azalea, so I'm not...

[ And when was the last time she had even had a conversation of this nature? When McCoy was here? Buffy? Jack Sparrow? ] With how fleeting things can be here, some might think it's not worth the risk.

Some... yeah. Though some might also say that the risk is why there's all the more reason to give it a go. Nothing ventured means nothing gained, and with there being no gains, then it's a pretty listless existence.

[ He smirks a little bit, and remarks: ] Plus, you do give yourself some time off teaching here and there.

That's mostly for the student's benefit. In any case, it's hardly here or there at this point.

[Though she's not blunt enough to ask the obvious: Are you projecting? Because that's one way to rationalize the question. That and how far she goes to try and keep her privacy. ]

Although it's a little ironic... that is an answer I've given others, when asked for advice on this subject. Whether they should allow themselves to be with the one they loved, or not ... and how much the risk was worth. Most of them are gone now.

Though I think history's shown us that when two people are star-crossed, even when they are from different worlds, sometimes there's a reprieve given to them where one isn't left without the other. Hardly a universal fact, but I do seem to recall Xion-chan and that Luke fellow being gone not long after the other. Maybe there's a sense of irony in this world.

[ He is probably projecting, more than a little. But he keeps his tone even and light, his arms still folded behind his head like this is a perfectly normal conversation. He wonders, really, what her mind is like on the inside. He's never thought to examine it too closely, and he sort of regrets it now ]

If you're going to use them as examples... Luke has both been returned here and sent back at least once or twice since then, so I'm not certain how much of a reprieve did occur. If it's even fair to call it that.

[ Although it does make her think of quite a few more of the prominent 'couples'. Jack Sparrow and Buffy. Regal and Gelda. And where did those friends turn for their advice? As if she really knew any better at all about what to do in that kind of situation. ]

"Luke" did, but it wasn't the same "Luke" which held those memories.

... It was, at least the first time it happened. Although I think time had passed for him ...

But currently, it's as you say. The Luke here now has none of those memories.

Ah, was it? Well, I did say it could have been my imagination.

It's all right. Most things that happen here have their layers of complication, after all. Although if you consider the prevalence of the ... Valentine's shift, you could be on to something anyway.

Not to mention before at least one of them, that blue fellow said that love's a force they actually try to quantify for study.

Indeed. I wonder what got them fixated on that path of thought, considering how they warn off against children. And "love" itself can have several different categories, though it seems only potential romantic matters in their tallying.

Is that to say you're not following that field of study, Raine-san?
