This post is for the draftee-only portion of the Zompania draft--the day 3 death, time travel to day 1, and then the events until the arrival of the reinforcements. Be sure to use the above info post for any plotting needs you might have. Enjoy!

Please note that there is a specific top-level comment thread for:

[Still recovering from an injury of her own, Mia hasn't moved much since she last saw Billy. When Zuko staggers into view she forces herself to rally, to get up and go to him so she can lead him somewhat out of the line of fire.]

What happened? [It's barely secluded and she still needs to raise her voice to be heard over the sounds of battle.]

[Once he sees Mia he's more than a little relieved. She's one of the few healers he actually knows around here. He lets her lead him away.]

It was stupid! One of them was playing dead and jumped me.

[His voice is raised as well, though just as much out of anger as the noise level.]

[What can she say to that? If he's lucky, the wound in his shoulder will be his only serious one. The best she can do is to find somewhere elevated enough that it isn't complete mud and slime. It's dirt. It'll do.]

Sit down, please. I'll try to do this quickly.

[If he's lucky. We'll see if his luck hold out. Regardless, he sits where she directs him, grimacing at the pain. However he soon notices that she's not looking her best either.]

[No, she's dirty and bloody and worn. Like everyone else on this battlefield. Instead of Psynergy, Mia calls on Nala to help her, using the increase in filial power to make up for her exhaustion. So, it feels warm, running through his shoulder and around his arm, instead of the cool-water sensation from the last time.]

[Zuko remains still as she uses Nala's power. It does feel different, but he isn't going to complain. Slowly the pain starts to ease away.]

Are you doing all right, Mia?

[A dumb question perhaps but he didn't want her to think he didn't care.]

About as well as can be expected. [Something softens in her face.] Thank you for asking.

[He goes quiet, trying to tune out the awful sounds of the battle going on around them... but can't. It's just too loud.]

I knew it was going to be bad, but... I didn't expect this.

Until I came to Luceti, I had never seen war. If it is always like this, and I believe it probably is...I hope never to see it again, either.

[Zuko nods solemnly.]

Where I'm from, our world was at war for 100 years. It was devastating, but it still wasn't like this.

It might have been. Even the best of us can't be everywhere to see everything. [An essential lesson for a healer, but a very good one for traveling the world as well. Decisions are made and lives happen everywhere, all at once.]

Maybe, but I never saw it. But even the toughest soldiers didn't fight quite like this. It's like they don't care if they or their comrades die.

[The cultists just seemed... Inhuman.]

You're right about that. They don't care.

[There's still fighting going on, and this isn't really the time for a long discussion, but Zuko seems ill-educated in what it's like to fight cultists.]

Their mission matters more than their lives.

Why? What could be so important that they're willing to just throw their lives away like that?

[He can understand having a cause. He had chased Aang all over the world for the sake returning home and getting his father's approval. But even he knew when to back off.]

[Mia takes one last look at the place where Zuko's injury had been.]

You should be all right to fight again, but please be careful.

[Well... yeah. There really isn't many opportunities to simple ask these people such a question. Even if they would tell them, which he doubted they would.

Zuko then looks at his shoulder and moves is experimentally.]
