Day 3 - before disarmament
Unfortunately, that wasn't his field of expertise and so he had to stay behind, cause some noise, keep the cultists distracted from the main team, and try to stay alive.
As Souji leapt from one rooftop to another, he narrowed in on a familiar form and a small group of cultists trying to flank him from a side alley. Skidding to a stop, he drew his sword and dropped, point down, onto the last cultist in the line.]
Behind you!
no subject
Now you're really in trouble. [He said, voice dropping down to a husky, dangerous level. He had known that the enemies were there and, outnumbered, was hoping that he could outrun them. Cracking his knnuckles, he inched closer.] Ya see-- my friend's here, and we don't play nice.
no subject
He straightened and brought the sword to bear on the sandwiched group.]
If anyone wished to run, it's too late now.
[His sandals were slick on the ground, but he used the fallen cultist's body as traction and launched himself forward, swinging the blade at the closest foe.]
no subject
He launched forth himself, lashing out with his steel covered fists and sending the enemies flying. An uppercut set one airborn. A sweeping roundhouse kick with his heavy boots threw another into a wall. And Cliff, a predator himself in this environment, only grinned.
It was good to be back on the field.]
no subject
The cultists swarmed and were reluctant to give up, driven by their convictions, but as a samurai, Souji knew how to fight those people. He pushed back just as hard, slashing and slicing arms, legs, necks and wings where he could. Take out a wrist and the sword loosened. Cut the ankle and the person stumbled. Destroy the knee and they couldn't get back up even if they tried. Slice the neck and that was the end of the battle.
He hadn't fought like this in years, unburdened by the disease or the fear of it. He caught a glimpse of Cliff smiling out of the corner of his eye and Souji mirrored the expression, dancing through the cultists with flashes of steel.]
no subject
More's coming in, [Cliff called, knocking down a sword fighter who had closed in on the two. A swift boot took care of that problem for the moment.] They look nasty too.
no subject
[Souji finished a cultist with a sword through his windpipe, holding for a moment to ensure the man was dead before slipping the blade back out. He could take the foot soldiers, maybe the dogs, but the Shifters were harder even for him who had no powers.]
no subject
Yeah. Hunters.
[Foot soldiers he could handle with no problem, and the Shifters presented a similar problem for him...but, the dogs were something best managed with a blade, and the most Cliff could do alone against them was slow them down.
...this was going to be fun.]
no subject
[Alone he wouldn't have been able to do much against the dogs as they swarmed and tried to overwhelm, but with Cliff beside him, they could thin the numbers, force the dogs to spread out and then kill them all.
It almost seemed sad, killing these animals - almost. Any sympathy he felt died when he saw the first of the pack come around. They were monstrosities and unfortunately they were on the wrong side.]
Spread them thin and I'll take their heads.
no subject
[He was already in motion before he finished his reply, charging toward the beasts at full power. The monstrosities were almost pitiful in their yelps and cries when he slammed his fists and boots into their bony hides-- almost. Cliff remained unmoved by their cries and kept driving his fists onward.
It was almost like being back home.]
no subject
When the first Hunter fell, blood spraying from a gash that severed its spine, the others began to yelp and fall into line, trying to jump and bite at Cliff and Souji both. He was able to catch one in the mouth, splitting its lower jaw off, but another slammed into him from the side, throwing him off balance into a wall. Dropping his sword, Souji grunted and pushed his armored forearm up between the animal's jaws, trying to keep it from biting his face.]
no subject
Souji!
[There wasn't enough time for more-- these beasts were fast, he knew. They didn't have long.]
no subject
Suddenly Cliff was there, hauling the creature off him. The canines dislodged from his arm, one tooth cracking and breaking off just below his wrist, thankfully missing anything important. Souji grimaced and then pulled his short sword awkwardly with his left hand, slitting the dog's throat in one fluid movement. The others were moving in now, seeing that both of them were distracted and he grit his teeth against the pain, hissing out:]
Watch your back! Three left incoming!
no subject
[Hands bloodied with the beast's dying cries, Cliff hefted the body and shoved it at the incoming monsters. It was a paltry block, but it was enough to buy Cliff the few seconds he needed to grab Souji's uninjured arm and drag him along in a dead run.
They needed some space and, with Souji's arm injured, they would need a healer before they could effectively take on the beasts as a team.
He hated when the odds were stacked this high against them.]
no subject
They had time, they could kill the dogs while they were dazed, but they only had a few seconds.
The fang in his forearm stung, but blood was nothing new to him.]
We have to finish the job. Cliff-san, we need to go back!
