This post is for the draftee-only portion of the Zompania draft--the day 3 death, time travel to day 1, and then the events until the arrival of the reinforcements. Be sure to use the above info post for any plotting needs you might have. Enjoy!

Please note that there is a specific top-level comment thread for:

[That was unexpected. The sudden burst of speed surprises Xzana and she over shoots the flying cultists. She blows right past them. Those that don't move out of her way she'll shove aside with her body.

She doesn't know how long five minutes is, but she'll guess short. Once she's up above them she tries to stop, but misjudges the speed a bit and ends up whirling around rather violently as she tries to face the fighters below them.

Now they had the upper hand of height, but they won't last this way for long.]

[Karis clings on tightly, as the violent whirl nearly causes her to tumble off. She sighs heavily when they finally stop and she's readjusted herself.] Okay...I'm fine... [She looks down toward the cultists below them, and some were fast approaching!

She takes the moment to stretch a hand toward them, palm open while feeling arcane energy gather again. Lightning danced around her fingertips, and although it won't nearly be as strong as when she'd have one of her marbles, it would still do.

Karis lets a bolt fly, and although a few cultists manage to dodge it, it still strikes one of them before bouncing to a few others. For each bounce, the power of the spell weakened, but gave a powerful enough shock to cause them to drop from the sky, alive still, but she hoped that the fall would kill them.] Bullseye!

[There is a small problem with using lightening while riding a dragon who is made up of nearly nothing but water. She doesn't like lightening very much when it's happening behind a mountain. Let alone right behind her head.

After a few blast the terrified creature rears up and spins around mid air. Wasn't she above all the attackers!? Where is the lightening coming from? She twists her long neck here and there as she suddenly starts dodging left and right to avoid the lightening from a sky she can't really see. Didn't lightening usually come with rain!? So someone MUST be attacking!?

Xzana may not be thinking too carefully having seen one of her greatest fears streak so close to her face. She has completely forgotten her rider so Karis better hang on for her life. Literally. Unless she survive a several story high fall.]

Ah! Oh archmages! Calm down! Calm down! [Karis hangs on for dear life, but with only one arm still wrapped around Xzana's neck, she won't last for long.]

THIS WAS A REALLY BAD IDEA! [The movement throws Karis off of the dragons back, and with her fall, she's now an easier target.] SLOW FALL, SLOW FALL, SLOW FALL! [Karis is quick to cast the spell, and is thankful that she has it, for it slows her descent down to where she'll survive the fall, but the oncoming cultists are a different story.

She tries to twist herself toward where the cultists are coming from, but her cheek is quickly met with a fist, one she wasn't exactly expecting.]

[No, no, no, no! She refuses to calm down! DID YOU NOT SEE THE SUPER SCARY LIGHTENING! It was lightening and SUPER SCARY! For a few moments she doesn't even know that Karis has fallen off her back.

She's still not sure where the lightening has gone, it never usually leaves that quickly when it's natural, but it seems to be gone for now. The flash of white hair below her quickly being surrounded by cultists clues her in that she is missing a rider. She may be absolutely clueless to nearly everything to do with humans, but one thing she knows it that they can not fly.

She's already diving down and quickly when Karis's cheek greets a cultists fist. It may hurt for a moment, but it's going to hurt a whole lot less than the other cultists who find a rather angry dragon rushing through them with her sharp claws out.

Xzana is able to slice through them like butter and ignores all of the attacks they make against her. Most swords and spears bounce off, but a few do managed to get lucky and cut a small path through her skin. Not that Xzana notices it much. She has but one focus and that is to catch Karis. She doesn't really care too greatly if the humans who came with her die or not, but they will not die because of her.]

[That punch was strong enough to direct Karis's course a little. It also hurt like hell. With some of the cultists now directed toward Xzana, this gives Karis a bit of a breather, but she still had others to take care of.

She doesn't have time to grab a marble though, so instead, she opts to cast a small fireball on the poor souls that are too close to her. The explosive spell just took a small wave of her hand, and off it went. It was a dumb move, and Karis knew it, but the explosive blast of a fireball was needed, even if she did get scorched by her own attack. She had it go off at such an angle that it would slightly propel her toward Xzana, and away from more oncoming cultists.]

[Fire is something Xzana can handle. She doesn't even blink at the flare of light. The fire scorches the cultist's backs and more importantly their wings. It saves Xzana time by not needing to attack those that were already falling to the ground in pain. She uses her heavy bulk to plow through the rest, catching one in her teeth and with a quick snap bites him and crushes the man's chest.

The dragon lets the lifeless body fall as she finally get underneath Karis once again and is ready to catch the mage on her back.

[Thank's to the slow fall spell, Karis doesn't crash into Xzana's back, though the landing is still a little rough, especially with those sharp scales of her's. They've definitely been rubbed the wrong way while Karis tries to situate herself on the dragon's back, but she doesn't care at the moment, any cuts from the scales are better than having a sword or spear go through her chest.]

Thank goodness... [With her arms wrapped around Xzana's neck, Karis takes this moment to breathe a bit easy.] Nice catch!

[Xzana doesn't respond to the praise. Partly due to the fact that in this form she cannot form human words. Now that she feels the small weight on her back once again she aims for the ground. With lightening in the sky she was not excited about staying in the air.

She's going in for a landing so long as Karis doesn't protest this.]

[She doesn't protest at all, it was more of a relief at this point anyway. Falling wasn't exactly something Karis wanted to do again, too many factors could mean death if such happens again.

Instead, Karis just clings to Xzana's neck, not wanting to let go until they were on solid ground.]

[Soon enough Xzana's claws meet the ground. She quickly lowers her body down so Karis can slide off her back so she can turn to face the cultists coming in to land with them.]

[Karis scrambles off the dragon's back, relieved that she's on solid ground now.] Whew, glad that's over now.

[She also turns, seeing that the cultists are coming in fast. She takes the time to pull out another marble, already knowing which spell she wants to use next, so it'll turn to shards almost as soon as it gets pulled out.

She waves a hand above her head, the energy of the spell forming enormous hailstones out from the air. With just a flick of the wrist, they're sent flying off toward the cultists.]

[Water and ice! Elements she can get behind! And she can help with those as the hail batters the cultists Xzana uses her powers over the water to make sure the strikes are even more brutal and precise. Throwing the full weight of her magic into it to be sure these hailstones not only batter the body, but rip through it as well.

Hailstones. So much cooler than lame lightening!]

[By the archmages, Karis didn't think that her hailstones could ever pack such a punch! She takes a note to herself to train in her magic again to get this effect going without help.

Unfortunately, Karis won't be able to keep up with her magic, as it's starting to strain her mind...one that's going to end with a wicked migraine later. She's already sweating while a headache begins to form. She'll swap back to her pistol, hoping that it will last her long enough.]

[Luckily if they ever have time to breath, Karis will have a new, large and scaly friend who will be willing to watch her back for her. Once more the large dragon pushes herself off the ground to snap at the few remaining cultists in the sky. Although not flying up too high. Just a few feet as the lightening still has her too spooked to go much higher.

The few feet are high enough to pick off what remained of the third party in the sky. Those that were left flying off for possible reinforcements. Now it was just the ones on the ground that needed to be dealt with. Xzana will start by landing her full weight onto the closest one to Karis.

[With Xzana taking care of those that dared to get close enough, Karis would pick off the ones that were out of the dragons reach, and she made sure that each bullet counted, as Karis did not want to waste a single one, not with how limited her supply is.]

[Eventually the fighting will slow as the numbers of fighters drop. Leaving at least Xzana panting and attempting to catch her breath. What she would like to do is hunker down and rest a bit, but not here. Not in this place filled with death.]
