[The voice is jarring enough, unexpected enough that Sasuke's eyes spin crimson as he looks up; his fist tightens on the handle of his blade. The tenseness flees as soon as it came, though, and Sasuke drops his gaze long enough to push himself to his feet. Ignoring those old instincts; hoping Itachi will as well.]

[He doesn't look for an offered hand. Maybe he would have, if things were different, but that just isn't how things are between them. Not that he's entirely sure how things are between them anyway, but now is not the time or place.]

[Though speaking of time and place...]


Did you feel that?

[His words are low, and his eyes are not on Itachi as he speaks, but glancing around for listeners. Nothing seems right here, or at all.]

I did.

[The initial reaction doesn't go unnoticed, and neither is it unexpected. There's a part of his heart that aches because of it, but another part of him is glad that his brother is still on his guard. Neither feeling reflects in his expression.]

Whatever occurred, it seems to have affected all of us.
