This post is for the draftee-only portion of the Zompania draft--the day 3 death, time travel to day 1, and then the events until the arrival of the reinforcements. Be sure to use the above info post for any plotting needs you might have. Enjoy!

[He nods, glancing around their surroundings to verify her remark. It's emptier than he would have thought; it's good that they don't have to run too much just yet, but it's a little eerie too.]

Yeah. We musta' lost time when we were hidin' from those jerks.

If people are already that far in, it might be a good thing. We can come up from behind in the fightin' and take some out that way.

Yeah. I guess it's better for us to be sneakier about it than going after them head on. Still, everyone's probably going to like, spread out before too long... [Not that she could tell how long that would take. Really, there's nothing that's for sure here. She finally forces herself to look up. She can't keep her eyes on the ground forever, after all.] S-Since you're in front, I'll try and keep an eye on things back here, just so no one like, takes us by surprise...

[Hopefully, she can keep herself together enough to do it.]

[His shoulders slump a little when she points that out.

Yeah, you're probably right about that... But maybe we'll at least find someone.

[He glances over his shoulder at her and smiles.]

Thanks. Just yell if you see anything.

[Probably not the best idea, Firo...]

[She nods to him in response and finds herself glancing over her shoulder as they walk. However, this also means looking at everything else around them. When she speaks her voice comes out as a whisper, as she remembers the invasion in their own enclosure.]

I wonder if this could have been Luceti, too...

[He flinches; that's something he never wants to think about. Having to go to war is bad enough; having it come to your door is even worse.]

You think?

...I wonder how long they fought before they wound up like this.

[He waves his arm to gesture to the rubble around them.]

Who knows?

[All she can tell, if the screams the previous night were any indication, is that any battle that could have taken place had already been lost long before they had arrived. The idea that none of them could have likely saved anyone inside the city just makes the entire situation worse.

Pilouette's head suddenly jerks up as she's pulled out of her thoughts by the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps.]

H-Hey, do you hear that?!

[He turns to follow her motion, his heart suddenly pounding harder than he ever thought it could.]

Shit--! Where do we go?

[He backs flat against a nearby wall and grabs for her shoulder to make her do the same. If she has a better idea, though, he'll gladly follow.]

[She presses herself up against the wall as well, her body tensing. The footsteps approach and a cultist comes running past, seemingly not even seeing them, passing them right by. Pilouette exhales before whispering to Firo.]

W-Wherever that guy was going, it must be getting crazy if he didn't even notice us. Maybe we should duck into somewhere...I-I think I hear more of them...!

[Did that really just happen? Even though that's the very outcome he was hoping for, Firo's stunned. He makes a mental note to watch out better when he's the one running off to a fight.]

Yeah, yeah. Damn it, do you see a good place nearby?

[He steps back from the wall to look around for a building that won't be too interesting to their enemies.]

[Her relief at being passed by is short lived as she frantically skims over the various buildings around them. None of them seem any better than any of the others. Still they need to get to cover and quick. She starts getting jittery and starts moving towards the nearest building.]

Let's just try to like, get out of sight...!

[He nods and quickly moves to follow her. It's a struggle to keep his voice down, but he tries anyway.]

Good idea. But listen before you go inside--there might be somethin' in there.

[She nods in return and puts her ear to the door, listening intently. However, she only listens for a few brief moments before opening the door. She looks back over her shoulder as starts to creep inside, hoping this was the right thing to do.]

I...I think it's okay. Come on!

[Firo nods and follows. He wouldn't be able to tell her if it's the right thing, but he couldn't tell her anything better.

He eases the door shut behind them and looks at her.]

We should probably check out the rest a' this place. Keep your eyes open.

Right...

[She nervously bites her lip as she begins to make her way a little further into the building to look around. She feels sort of bad...she was the one who said they should stick to the streets.]

I guess staying on the streets wasn't such a good idea, after all...

What're you talkin' about?

[He pauses to peek through a doorway on the far wall of the room. Thankfully, it's empty.]

It's the only way to get anywhere. Better to try that than get stuck somewhere. We just had bad timin'.
