[Well, after that mishap with Natalia's cooking, Ven's not totally sure if he has an appetite, but seeing how it's a birthday party, Ven comes wandering over with a cupcake covered in green frosting and star-shaped sprinkles. There's also a wrapped present tucked under his arm.]

Hey, are you feeling better?

No such thing as late!

Yes I am, thank you. I'm sorry if I worried you at all. Though I'm still not entirely sure what happened myself...

[He's probably apologized to like everyone even though it wasn't exactly his fault Natalia's cake was a one-hit KO. Seriously, they could market that stuff to use against the third party (but no, that'd probably be too cruel, even for them). Thankfully Ion's too nice to hold it against her.]

I dunno, but I guess I'll have to watch what I eat. And it's too bad, because it looks like everyone worked really hard.

[He glances at the cake, a frown tugging at his lips. And to think he almost dug into it himself.]

Well, I believe the cake is the only thing Natalia made that came out like that... [And by "like that" he means looking totally innocent and not toxic at all despite being the opposite. The cookies she made, for example, both look and taste like doorstops.]

I can point out some of the other dishes for you, if you'd like? I know Anise made a number of the dishes here as well, and everything she makes comes out delicious.

Hey, as long it's not too much trouble! I don't mind winging it.

[Though as he says this, he places a hand over his stomach. Would it be brave or insane to sample everything?]

Y'know, I don't think I ever met Anise before. Guess I better go fix that today.

Oh, I'm sure you would have at least seen her by now. I heard she was the one to help organize all of this, after all.

[As he speaks, he reaches over across the table and scoots over a plate of tea sandwiches -- all nicely cut and fancy looking.]

Here, I know these were made by her -- and they're delicious as well.

She's the girl with pigtails, right?

[Yeah, he's pretty sure he's at least seen her around.

Now, when Ion offers the sandwiches, Ven grins and scoops one up.]

Man, they look delicious. What'd she make 'em with?

[Ion nods to the question -- no doubt Anise has been seen going around here and there throughout the night, and has also probably been making sure no one else makes the mistake of eating any of Natalia's cooking that still lingers on the table.]

There are a few different kinds, actually. I know there's at least a few with egg salad, and some with salmon. And I had one with cucumber in it early that was quite refreshing.

A cucumber sandwich? Huh, I don't think I've ever tried one of those before...

[But it sounds like such a simple idea! Like eating a salad on bread... hmm. Something to keep in mind, though for now he'll settle for biting into his current snack.]

D'you think she'd be up for sharing some of her recipes?

Oh, I'm sure she would be happy to. Anise is a very kind person, after all.

[Says her besto friendo, beaming.]

I'm sure you would get more use out of them than I did when she tried to teach me. Admittedly, I'm not a very cook myself.

Aww, I think anyone can cook if they practice long enough. Trust me, I used to be terrible at cooking stuff.

[He grins, pointing at himself with his thumb.]

Turns out all I needed was a teacher and lots of hard work.

Really? [Just what magic spell did he use to get better because Ion wants some of that--]

Well, I've had plenty of good teachers in the past. Perhaps I just haven't really put enough work into it.

I think it depends on what you're making, too. If you really wanna be safe, though, I'd grab some recipes and follow 'em step by step. If you get all the measurements just right, I think you'll be okay.

[It's like putting a model together! Or a puzzle. Sometimes instructions are super helpful.]

Oh yes, I'm sure with a simple recipe I shouldn't have any trouble.

Though I did manage to ruin a recipe once in the past... but I'm sure that's only because I wasn't used to using the microwave yet. We don't have anything quite like it back on Auldrant.
