Oh, not at all! We were still just friends after all of that. But... well...

[Oh, was Anise waiting for the part where Ion starts blushing? Because that part is happening now. At least a little bit.]

Even though our feelings for each other during the experiment had been fabricated, after it was over I realized I... well, that is to say, I realized that I could have feelings like that... for a man as well.

[~~And suddenly Ion's constant defense of Luke back on Auldrant makes much more sense~~.]

[Hey listen it's cool Anise doesn't care who Ion is dating ~~as long as it's not Gloomietta~~ as long as they treat Ion well. Anybody who doesn't treat Ion well will get to have a one-on-one meeting with Tokunaga, so to speak.]

[Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case here! Kohan seems like a really good guy and Anise wanted to learn more about him. He was someone important to Ion, after all.]

And then? That's when you confessed your love, right? ♥

[It does fill him with relief that Anise doesn't really react to it -- it's not as though he's really had a negative experience with his sexuality, but there was always a small part of him that worried people would look at him differently if they knew.]

[He laughs a bit at the question.]

Well, it still took a while for us to get to that point. To be honest, with all the experiments, it was difficult to know whether our feelings for each other were real or just part of another experiment. Even after I finally realized how I felt about him and tried to tell him, it still took a number of months before our feelings really reached each other. And that was a little over a year ago now.

[And if anybody ever looks at Ion strangely or judges him for who he's with Anise will find them and do uncute things to them :|]

A year!?

[Maybe it's not as surprising as the whole eighteen thing but still that's a really long time Anise is happy their relationship has worked out that well.]

And what kind of person is he? What do you guys normally do on dates? Details, details! ♥

[It's like opening Pandora's box, the questions never end.]

[Ion nods -- it surprised him a little too, to think it had been so long. Even though a year was only half as long in Luceti as it was back home, that still meant that a good chunk of his life was spent with Kohan.]

[So it's only natural that when he talks about him, you can practically see how much he cares about him in his expression.]

...he's shy. And a little quiet. He can be a little rough around the edges at times, especially with people he doesn't know very well. But he's very caring, and is always looking out for me. He's helped me more times than I can count, really.

[If Kohan heard this conversation going on right now, he'd probably get super embarrassed and leave the room for a while to go hide somewhere -- he may not be the most social guy out there, but his actions were honest, and that was one of things that really drew Ion to him.]

We usually try to have lunch together on most days if we can. Sometimes I'll sit and read while he trains, or we'll go to his house to watch movies together in the evening.

[Gosh Ion, how did you manage to find someone so perfect? Seeing how Ion talks about Kohan almost makes Anise a little jealous. Almost.]

[But really, more than anything, she's glad. Ion really hadn't gotten a chance to have many friends or do anything social back when they were on Auldrant, and now it's clear that he's found a lot of really good people in Luceti. If nothing else, they were people who would take care of him and like him because he was Ion, and not anybody else.]

You guys sound like you have a lot of fun together. ♥

[Maybe if Ion wasn't so pale normally, the blush on his face at that last sentence wouldn't be so pronounced. But unfortunately for Ion, his own words made him remember just how little actual reading he gets done when he's watching Kohan train. Oh, it's fun all right...]

[But he's going to try very hard not to show it, yep. Just ignore that red color in his cheeks.]

I'll have to be sure to introduce you to him later. I really would like it if you could both get along.

[...which is more a concern on Kohan's part than Anise's, really.]

Really? I'd love to meet him! ♥

[She sees that blush there!]

[But, any person that was important to Ion was also important to her, and there was a pretty big part of her that wanted to see what kind of person could make Ion this happy. She'd do what she could to be nice to him and make her best impression!]

Well, perhaps once things wind down a little, you'll be able to. He doesn't do too well around large groups like this, so I'm sure he'd appreciate waiting until a little later. I wouldn't want to frighten him off, after all.

[He says it with a soft laugh, but there's a lot of truth in there. Really, if not for the fact that this was a birthday party for his boyfriend, Kohan might have snuck off already to avoid the crowds. Rather the opposite of Ion, who enjoyed social environments like this.]
