[ ... Well it's not being a smooth operator. Kohan isn't going to laugh either, but he might be following enough to tease Ion back a little. ]

[Okay he's laughing a little bit now.]

So is yours "whatever I want"?

I think that would depend on what it is you want.

I... don't know what I want.

[ He leans against Ion. ]

This is kind of nice as it is.

[And he leans his head against Kohan's arm in return. He closes his eyes and falls silent for a moment, before then looking back up at Kohan.]

...thank you for being here with me.

[It's not quite "I love you" but hopefully the sentiment carries in his voice.]

I wouldn't want to be elsewhere for anything.

[ Which is why he was willing to suffer through awkward and company and awkward company.

And whether it's actually a true statement or not, at the moment, Kohan can't think of anything that would make him feel more content, more at peace with everything than being with Ion. Possibly excepting being with him in a place that doesn't mess with their heads or make them suffer at random, but he'll take what he can get. ]

You're not getting too cold out here, right?

[ It might be summer but he's still going to double check. ]

[Hopefully Kohan was looking down when he said that, because he probably wouldn't want to miss the smile his words put on Ion's face.]

[With his head still rested against Kohan's arm, he snuggles a bit closer, looking up at the sky. He's not shivering, but it is getting a little chilly -- or at least, chilly for him. But even so, he's not quite ready to go back inside just yet. He couldn't exactly be as openly affectionate with Kohan when everyone else was still around, and he wasn't sure how much more time alone they would have tonight. So he wanted to savor this moment at least a little more.]

I'll be all right for a little while longer. Besides, I have you to keep me warm, don't I?

[ Looking down enough. That smile makes him duck his head a little, embarrassed... but also smiling, himself. Ion why you gotta be all cute like that. ]

Yeah, you do. But let's not stay out too much longer, okay? I can protect you from some things but pneumonia isn't one of them.

[Because he was born this cute.]

Okay. Then I'll be sure to say something before I get too cold.

[Which won't be for another ten minutes or so, after which they go back inside and probably have to endure some teasing from at least one guest about where they both went, but all in all, it was a pretty good first birthday party!]
