Mission: Building the Future in Pagoda

Nothing until a minute or two ago. Kurt and the others are always trying to convince me to do this thing that they do, where they sit together on the couch and watch a- a movie. It could be something simple like that.

Oh! Something like that would great!

[She hasn't just watched a movie with friends since she was back home. Actually, when was the last time she even watched a movie? Now that she thinks about it, she hasn't done much of anything lately that could be considered just...hanging out with friends.]

Or maybe we could have like, a picnic or something! That might be kinda nice...

As long as we can count on the weather, a picnic sounds lovely. It ought to be something that doesn't require a lot of energy from everybody, hm?

Yeah...something low stress so everyone can relax for a little bit. It probably wouldn't take much planning or anything, either...! Maybe it could be like, a potluck picnic or something so that one or two people aren't stuck making all the food.

[Just the idea of it is boosting her mood a little.]

That puts us in charge of dessert, then, right? I think we can manage that.

Right! We totally can!

[As excited as she is about the idea, a part of her feels a little guilty about getting so hyped for it considering where they currently are and what they're doing. But still...]

Once we're back in Luceti, we'll have time to really plan this thing out!

I hope we have the time. Who would you most like to invite, Pilouette?

[Mia doesn't feel guilt about it. Conversations like this are necessary in a crisis whenever they can happen.]

[For once, Pilouette doesn't have to think very long about her answer, smiling as she talks.]

Well, there's Rin and Miss Grune, of course, and Mac and...Well, lots of people...! [Really it's hard to list them all. After all, there are so many people who could use a good time.] Oh! Oh, what about you? Who would you invite?

Probably the people I live with. [Grune is another good choice, Mia knows her well enough to know she's a cheerful influence.] Maybe one or two others, but I'm not sure at all if they would say yes. I think it should stay small enough that nobody has to overwork themselves in making food.

Yeah...if people had to do too much work it would kind of like, defeat the whole purpose, huh? But I bet anyone would come if you asked them to!

[Pilouette has always assumed that Mia is well-liked with lots of friends. Who wouldn't want to come to a gathering if Mia invited them? Pilouette smiles as she starts grouping together the laid out supplies for the extra first aid kits.]

Besides, it'll be nice to do something really normal for a little while.

[A ghost smile lands on Mia's face for just a moment.]

This is normal, for me. [A hand motion to the supplies, she doesn't mean the war part.] All of this here.

Oh...yeah, since you work in the battle dome clinic, you do stuff like this all the time, huh? [She follows Mia's gesture and looks over the laid out supplies. At that moment, an idea pops into her head. She's a little nervous about it since she still considers herself very much a novice when it comes to first aid and wouldn't blame Mia in the slightest if she said no.] Um, you know, since I'm done with school and stuff...if you ever need someone to help out there a little bit, I could totally do it. Um, maybe I'd even learn some more stuff.

[After all, aside from her regular first aid studies and Welcome Center work, her schedule is pretty open. One can only wander around the woods for so long.]

[Mia doesn't like to think of herself as a woman of impulsive action. That's too bad, sometimes.

She turns and steps closer to Pilouette and throws her arms around her in a hug all in one motion.]

[It's not that Pilouette especially minds hugs, but the suddenness of it catches her by surprise.]

Huh? Mia...?

I couldn't ask for a better person to know, or a better friend here. [For once she just lets herself say what she's thinking, although it means there's no explanation for her words.] I just...want you to know that.

[For a moment, she looks at Mia without saying a word, wondering for just what prompted this. Pilouette, as emotional as ever and caught a bit off guard, can't help but let out a loud sniffle as she starts tearing up a little.]

Y...Yeah, me too! I'm really glad I met you...!

I don't say that enough to the people who matter to me.

[When she might leave, or they might, at a moment's notice...it's better that they hear it more often.]

[Pilouette knows that feeling well. There are so many people she wishes she had said "I'm glad I met you" or "Thank you for being my friend" to, only to remember when it was too late.]

Actually...I guess we could both say it more often, huh?

I would never speak for you. Thank you for reminding me of why I need to say it. [She actively resists another impulse hug, broadening her smile instead.] We'd love to have you help out in the clinic whenever you can.

[She smiles a bit sheepishly. Sometimes, Pilouette thinks that Mia is too kind to her, that Mia says things that she doesn't deserve to hear. However, she appreciates those things and appreciates Mia's friendship so much.]

Well, um, my schedule is pretty open, so...um, any time you need extra help, just let me know! Or maybe I could even stop by sometimes. I-If you really think it's okay with Miste- Uh, Doctor Law.

[Pilouette had heard of him once, quite a while ago, when she was first asking around about first aid lessons but...well, she's never actually met him and doesn't know much about him. It makes her the tiniest bit nervous.]

He wouldn't say no to a few extra hands, either. [Besides, he's not the boss of Mia or her students. She puts her hands on her hips - something she's learned from the X-men, no doubt - and shakes her head.] Don't let him worry you. You'd be there to help and you know what you're doing.

[Well, if Mia says not to worry about him, then she probably shouldn't. She still will worry about him because that's just how she is, but she's a little less apprehensive knowing that Mia says he'll be okay with it.]

And even if he isn't on board with it...well, I'll just have to make sure I keep getting better so he doesn't have a reason to say no! [Besides, if she's helping out at the clinic, there's no way she can't learn things and improve, right?]

He used to unsettle me a good deal more than he does now. [She says it as if he doesn't really unsettle her at all now...and that's not entirely true.] You work hard and you think things through and genuinely wish to help. There is no argument against that.

W-Well, I just do what I think I'm supposed to.

[She's not sure she deserves praise for that, but Mia's words do make her feel a bit more confident about the whole idea. Plus, she'll be glad to be able to do more to help in day to day situations. As she puts together another kit, she does her best to try and stifle a quiet yawn.]

Geez, it must be later than I thought...

It always is. [Mia pats Pilouette's shoulder.] Do a few more and then at least consider getting some sleep, please?
