Who: Gai, Elizabeth, and all invited (and possibly some uninvited) guests
What: A wedding!
When: Just before sunset on June 30th
Where: The beach
Summary: Finally, after much planning, pre-wedding jitters, and ice cream consumed, this is it. The big day. Gai and Elizabeth are finally getting married. (Never mind the fact they've been technically married since the draft... shhhh.)
Rating: Keep it G, people, this is a public venue.
[The ocean has returned, the day is clear and sunny, and wedding fever is back in the air.]
[This time the location is the beach, and between the setting sun, the waves, and the decor there is no lack of ambiance. little battery-powered votives in paper lanters litter the space, and larger lanterns line a yellow petal aisle that leads up to a decorative arch with a few chairs. Over to the side is the reception set up, which looks like it can accommodate more guests than the ceremony. Frames draped with chiffon and lit with little electric light strings indicate both food and bar/drink areas, and similar setups surround both small and large tables for seating, lit both with electric lights and votives in varying glass jars. And of course, there’s music and an open floor for dancing.]
((OOC: Close CR/specifically invited friends are welcome at the ceremony, but the party is definitely for anyone who wants to come see the spectacle or welcome back the ocean! ♥ ))

The fact that they're technically already married does not matter at all to him. So he knocks tentatively on the door to the beach house before twisting his hands in his pockets and shouting out:]
I don't know if this is considered bad luck or not!
[As if it would be a good way to have a conversation.]
no subject
No it's not, I need you! [And she grabs his sleeve and drags him in.]
no subject
Ahhh, Elizabeth!
[After stumbling inside Booker wiggles his arm, wanting very much not to be attached to a panicking bride - he's heard horror stories.]
What's wrong? What happened?
[Because of course something had to have gone wrong for her to want him in here.]
no subject
I've tried, but I can't reach them, and Rosalind went to get pins for my hair--! [Her panic is so not about the buttons, but it's something to fixate on.]
no subject
Alright, alright! Just - hold still!
[He's afraid of the dress. Like it'll just spontaneously rip to shreds if he touches it.]
You sure you don't want to wait for Rosalind to get back?
no subject
Besides... you've already done this before.
no subject
[He doesn't try to contest it. After all, she needs the help. So he chews down on what he'd like to say and just buttons up her dress as quickly as he can. It's a definite improvement from last time he had to help her like this.]
Is it really that heavy?
no subject
Heavier than my other dresses. [Technically true. Elizabeth takes a deep breath and lets it out.] You're going to be watching, right?
no subject
[It's not as if the suit is spectacular or anything, or even that different from what he tended to lean towards anyways. But he hasn't lost the jacket or vest yet and to his credit he did manage to actually tie his neck-wear and doesn't look his usual sloppy self.
An effort was made?]
Besides, someone has to stare down your husband.
[He feels a fleeting rush of panic at saying it. He's barely used to having a daughter much less a married one.]
no subject
[Elizabeth offers a small smile over her shoulder.] I think that entitles you to stare Gai down all you like.
no subject
You...
You don't need to apologize to me. [For anything.]
I'm the one who decided taking my sweet time to tell you... tell you everything. [He chews his mouth closed and pockets his hands, wishing he had a drink. His question blurts out of him, like he couldn't keep it in his mind.]
We're still friends....right?
[Annnd he winces at himself. Because really? You're her father, not her friend you idiot.]
no subject
[She turns around and takes both of his hands, squeezing them tightly.]
You're my best friend. My first friend, and for a while my only friend. That hasn't changed, and it won't change.
no subject
Alright.
[He says it quietly, like he doesn't want to somehow have her take it back or something.]
no subject
[Elizabeth squeezes his hands again and kisses his cheek.] I love him, but I'm still nervous about taking this step alone. Knowing you'll be watching... I'll feel stronger.
no subject
You're plenty strong on your own, Elizabeth.
[And he knows this for a fact. She was able to do what she had to in order to stop Comstock. She'd be able to walk down an aisle. ]

[Elizabeth looks down at their hands, Booker's large and rough and dependable. Her own were small next to his, and pale, but they suddenly reminded her of Booker's hands. Their nails were the same shape.]
I might have been strong-willed, and independent, and fighting against being held captive before you came along. I might have thought I could have taken the key and run off on my own without you. But I didn't need you to be strong, I didn't need you to rescue me... [She tries to blink back tears, but it's started and she can't stop it. Oh well.] I needed a reason to run faster, and to fight harder. To live outside of where I started. I needed a friend to support me while I grew up.
BECAUSE I WANTED TO?
You should have had time.]
So did I.
[He certainly learned how to take responsibility and want it, despite what it meant for him. That's something he'd never been able to do, not even in 38 years.
To say Booker hugs her would be...well, putting it lightly. He tries not to squeeze the life out of her, at least - his hold is gentle like someone trying to cradle a baby and not quite knowing how to hold it like it's not made of spun sugar. It'd be a good time to say 'I love you', but he's never been the guy to do displays and say shit at the same time. This'll do.]
OKAY. 8D
I love you. And I'm going to keep loving you, no matter what. Okay?
