Who: Gai, Elizabeth, and all invited (and possibly some uninvited) guests
What: A wedding!
When: Just before sunset on June 30th
Where: The beach
Summary: Finally, after much planning, pre-wedding jitters, and ice cream consumed, this is it. The big day. Gai and Elizabeth are finally getting married. (Never mind the fact they've been technically married since the draft... shhhh.)
Rating: Keep it G, people, this is a public venue.
[The ocean has returned, the day is clear and sunny, and wedding fever is back in the air.]
[This time the location is the beach, and between the setting sun, the waves, and the decor there is no lack of ambiance. little battery-powered votives in paper lanters litter the space, and larger lanterns line a yellow petal aisle that leads up to a decorative arch with a few chairs. Over to the side is the reception set up, which looks like it can accommodate more guests than the ceremony. Frames draped with chiffon and lit with little electric light strings indicate both food and bar/drink areas, and similar setups surround both small and large tables for seating, lit both with electric lights and votives in varying glass jars. And of course, there’s music and an open floor for dancing.]
((OOC: Close CR/specifically invited friends are welcome at the ceremony, but the party is definitely for anyone who wants to come see the spectacle or welcome back the ocean! ♥ ))

PRE-CEREMONY
Elizabeth
[There are a great many deep breaths and slow exhales, much looking in the mirror, sucking in her stomach as she's buttoned into her dress, and so on. Nearly everybody close to Gai and Elizabeth knows they're already married, but that's not stopping Elizabeth from feeling like she's about to melt out of her dress and onto the floor from nerves. Never has she spent so much time getting ready for something, and she's been in the same beach house with people helping her get ready for what feels like hours. She's antsy, no doubt about that.]
no subject
It seems a terrible over-complication of the thing, in her mind. In this village, especially, there is no strictly-held law or convention to follow. It should be the most seamless thing in the world, to simply remain with the people one cannot bear to live without - barring calamity, naturally. The fact remains, though, that this is something Elizabeth wishes to have, and there is no reason now to guide her steps in any particular direction. It might be entirely disorienting, were Rosalind not at least preparing for the thing about to unfold. IT is not so strange when she thinks of it as simply setting a stage. That, she has been doing for a very, very long time.
It's quiet in the beach house for the moment, warm sea breeze coming in through the window, and she tucks another curl into place before breaking the meditative silence of it all.]
Just think of how much you will appreciate your ordinary clothes tomorrow.

The fact that they're technically already married does not matter at all to him. So he knocks tentatively on the door to the beach house before twisting his hands in his pockets and shouting out:]
I don't know if this is considered bad luck or not!

Gai
Elizabeth is off getting dressed, which seems to be taking forever plus several years on top of that. Okay, so a dress is far more elaborate than a suit, but still...
And here he thought he'd be able to make it through this without nervousness hitting. He hasn't been this freaked out in quite a long time, not even while on the draft. He isn't sure what that says about him, either.]
Re: Gai
[This is why you have bros around who have gone through the entire mess beforehand. and reassure you. Said bro by the way?
Is bringing you your cufflinks, man. It's going to run smooth - you have backup, man.]

THE CEREMONY ITSELF

[Bouquet in hand, Elizabeth settles herself at the end of the aisle and tries to catch Gai's eyes. Is the dress too big? Is she sweating yet?]
no subject
She's beautiful. Absolutely, amazingly beautiful. Not that he doesn't think she's always beautiful, but today she looks downright radiant, if just as nervous as he is.
And he can't think of a single word to say.]

Just after Elizabeth passed, Eugene dug out the ring he'd given Jack, holding it in the palm of his hand. His nudge was light but obvious before he tapped out a short command.]
OPEN YOUR HAND
[He waited for Jack to hold out his hand as instructed before dropping the ring in his hand, grinning, and turning his attention back to Elizabeth. With a grin that could only be considered a combination of derp, shyness, and stubbornly clinging to his ideas. Never mind that he took hold of Jack's opposite hand and gave it a soft squeeze.]
no subject
He didn't expect, then, to feel it nestles into his hand when he opened it, still watching Elizabeth, caught up in the silent spectacle unfolding in front of them. A wedding was such a thing without the music, the chatter, even the rustle of fabric or the hush of bated breath. In absolute silence, every movement was vivid, every expression a flickering record of emotion, and he was almost too entranced by the drama unfolding in front of them to glance down and see the flash of gold, faintly scuffed around the edges. And cheesy as it is, in that moment, it all makes a little sense. This is what Eugene wants. These looks. This thing of space and touch and undivided attention.
He swallows down what most definitely are not tears, closing his hand tightly around the ring and tapping out his response on Eugene's palm.]

RECEPTION
Elizabeth
[Over the course of the evening, she'll receive any guests that approach her, try in vain to slip away from the receiving line to get something to eat, and of course do the obligatory dancing with Gai... and someone else who's not getting away with the 'I don't dance' excuse.]
no subject
The simple aesthetic of her is captivating. Her happiness. It's so genuine, so full, and so warming.
But, eventually, he approaches the bride and bows, offering his hand forward.]

Which is a shame because it doesn't convey that he's actually enjoying himself. Still if there's one thing he's gotten out of having to keep an eye on crowds or people who hired him it's noticing things. And Elizabeth wanting to eek towards the food every time someone stops chatting with her is one of those things. So he casually brings a plate of food to her after the next person wanders away.]

Gai
There are more people than he expected, and it surprises him somewhat. He hadn't expected so many people to care enough to show up for this, even if he knows most of them are here for Elizabeth rather than for him. It's enough to make him feel more socially-inclined than usual; enjoy it while it lasts, because he won't be this friendly or this talkative forever.]

Ginia
She'll do her best to keep drinks going, even seeing if people can drop back into the village if things get a bit low, but she'll also cut people off well before anyone gets drunk. No falling in the ocean or drunk shenanigans at this wedding, sorry.]

Here, it's easier. He certainly doesn't bother much with alcohol. Though the beach venue is... odd. Not the kind of weddings he's used to. Though that suits well enough. He wouldn't expect anything too traditional, especially not in Luceti.]

She's mostly staying by the refreshment table, hands pulling at her dress -- she's wishing she had something that fit a heck of a lot better with the vibrant pink hair she's started sporting, but her wardrobe can't be helped. Honestly, she'd almost forgotten the date... which isn't helping her feel less awkward about actually coming, mass invite aside.
(Though her most valid excuse is the end of the month's been busy and tiring, mission and all.)
She can also be found dancing with her two pokémon -- her more humanoid one, her Hitmonchan, is definitely the easier to dance with out of them both, but her Meganium makes sure to wiggles his vines enough to give her a sense of dancing and to spin her a few times. Careful though -- he's very enthusiastic and not very good at dancing, so Crystal might just be spinning into you before she can manage to stop herself!]

He didn't belong. But then, weddings (at least in his world) were always filled to the brim with those sorts of people.
...Well that and when he was freaking out about setting up that thing with Norma in later June he actually did collect a new suit get up. He'd decided not to wear it then (too formal) so he just decided he could get away with wearing it now. And if this whole reception got too awkward because of his not-belonging, he could just bail.
Not that you'd necessarily discern this whole thought process from how he acts here. No, the whole does seem pretty collected and casual, chatting up people, maybe trying to subtly flirt with anyone not taken or out of his league, dancing, maybe getting a light cocktail at the bar, you know, you know. He's on his feet basically the entire time here, because sitting is for those with a reason to sit ]

The princess is even donning a new dress for the event courtesy of an earlier hang out with Crys! Though she still has her tiara. Lacking her scepter though, as there was no use for it at such a joyous occasion. Despite having come here with the other girl, they'll be often apart during the reception.
The only one who Hilda plans to dance with is Monlee, Crys's Hitmonchan, and she's actually teaching him the steps. She's careful not to be in the way of anyone, so they're actually practicing on the sand itself. What an odd sight. And it's tough actually but you know what this is fun and Monlee is very sweet.
Other than that, she can be found trying out different drinks. Getting a little tipsy before being directed away by the all-too-wonderful Ginia and roaming around looking a tad out of focus. There is high chance of literally bumping into someone with this.
And, later on, Hilda goes to stand by the ocean and watch the water. Though she gets tired of simply looking and lifts her dress to her knees so she can step into the ocean. It feels really nice okay ♥.]
