Who: Gai, Elizabeth, and all invited (and possibly some uninvited) guests
What: A wedding!
When: Just before sunset on June 30th
Where: The beach
Summary: Finally, after much planning, pre-wedding jitters, and ice cream consumed, this is it. The big day. Gai and Elizabeth are finally getting married. (Never mind the fact they've been technically married since the draft... shhhh.)
Rating: Keep it G, people, this is a public venue.
[The ocean has returned, the day is clear and sunny, and wedding fever is back in the air.]
[This time the location is the beach, and between the setting sun, the waves, and the decor there is no lack of ambiance. little battery-powered votives in paper lanters litter the space, and larger lanterns line a yellow petal aisle that leads up to a decorative arch with a few chairs. Over to the side is the reception set up, which looks like it can accommodate more guests than the ceremony. Frames draped with chiffon and lit with little electric light strings indicate both food and bar/drink areas, and similar setups surround both small and large tables for seating, lit both with electric lights and votives in varying glass jars. And of course, there’s music and an open floor for dancing.]
((OOC: Close CR/specifically invited friends are welcome at the ceremony, but the party is definitely for anyone who wants to come see the spectacle or welcome back the ocean! ♥ ))

[ He claps his hands together and takes a step back from her, smiling ] Once, in Saitama, there was a bright young boy by the name of Masaomi Kida. Unlike many of his fellow Y-chromosomes, he had taken to an appreciation to the female persuasion early on, and there was one girl among all the others which caught his eye - a beautiful rough and tumble tomboy who he wanted to win the affections of. For months, the boy actually made efforts to charm Shoko - he brought her dandelions and chocolates both, until finally when he asked her to go out and smooch him. She said she would...
If he could beat her in a race.
[ And then he leans in to say: ] And you know what? He lost.
[ He laughs it off, shrugging dramatic ] Turns out, based on some people I talked to later, Shoko went on to be a big time track star in high school, so I was even one of her earlier victories.

[Heheheh.]

[ And he is so curious ]

Crystal unclasps her hands, threading her fingers together instead. She stretches them down, a thoughtful look on her face.]
Well -- I was five years old at the time. [She smiles, nice and wide.] I was visiting Azalea Town with Mama -- she was there on business, and I was her assistant.
[Teeny tiny assistant Crystal.]
We were heading over to Kurt's house, actually. Mama needed some more specialty balls, she had a job from one of the carpenters in town, and she wanted to introduce me to him anyway... I thought it was gonna be kind of boring, to be honest. He didn't have any kids around my age back then at all, and all I wanted to do was to play with Wobbee. As we were walking, though, we found something really amazing --
[She leans forward a little.] a wild Farfetch'd. You wouldn't know this, since you're not from home, but - Farfetch'd are pretty rare. There's only a few places you can catch them in the Kanto-Johto region, and not one of those is anywhere near Azalea Town. Naturally, we were pretty surprised - but Mama was all like, "Found you!" As it turns out, that Farfetch'd was the one she was sent to catch. Or recapture, I guess, if we wanna be technical.
Farfetch'd are pretty flighty birds though, and this one was extra skittish. It'd been raised from an egg, according to Mama's client, so that probably explains why it was so nervous after running into the wild for a few weeks... Anyway, Mama saw it and quick as an Arcanine she got Wobbee out for battle. It was pretty amazing - and not in a good way - to watch... Wobbuffet won't ever attack on its own, so it seemed like a really odd choice for her to use, but that Farfetch'd was so spooked to tried to cut him right in half!
[Good times. Her story's already running on longer than Masaomi's, though. She leans back, shrugging her shoulders.]
Wobbee countered it, and Mama took care of the rest - it was a pretty easy capture, all things considered. We stopped by the carpenter's house before we went to Kurt's and the way his eyes shone when we gave him back his Farfetch'd... How grateful he sounded, and how much his pokémon missed him when he let it out to say hello...
[She pauses, then sighs; a little lovelorn.] I knew, right then and there, that I'd fallen in love with the idea of being as amazing of a catcher as Mama.
[...yep.]

... And so he's almost relieved, at the end, when the end of it is a bit of a cop out. Well, sort of. Because: ]
Oh wow, that young? And you've fought for that passion since there, Crystal-san? That's amazing.
[ He applauds for her too ]
no subject
And applause isn't necessary, but she'll take it.]
It's the whole reason I wanted to become one. [Her nose crinkles when she grins a little grin.] Not to mention the looks on everyone else's faces when Mama helped them out. I started paying a lot more attention to them, and I even answered letters from families she helped out in getting a pokémon.
[The older she got, the more she loved how kids lit up.]
It was... inspiring. It's not much like yours, though. I trained a lot out of the city when I was younger, and I was the only person my age volunteering at Violet City's academy when I got old enough to do so, so I guess I just never thought about it. [Disappointing, right. She knows. From an outsider's perspective, that's totally disappointing. She can almost imagine all the sighs they had for Hilda, except for her.]
no subject
[ After all, she can just... learn about it. He smiles to himself a little more, as if there were a joke that he didn't tell, and opts not to say that out loud. Instead, he reaches out one of his hands to take one of her's ]

she feels her breath catch a little, because it almost (almost) reminds her of the beach. Almost, because she'd given him her hand then; he hadn't taken it. There's no suits now either, not like in Zompania, and her fingertips tingle.
It's weird. Not unpleasant, but weird.] What's that look for?
no subject
[ And he says this with a sincere, genuine, and yes, eager smile. His hands feel so pleasantly tingly in a way he hasn't felt in a way. These emotions are going somewhere - they are blossoming, just a little ]

Good evening, Masaomi, it is nice to see you. May I cut? I wish to have a dance with the girl I came here with, and to perhaps treat her to a fruity drink afterwards. They are very delicious. [She has had several fruity drinks herself. Though this isn't evident in her manners yet.]
no subject
Hilda? Hilda!]
There you are! I was just wondering, um, not too long ago where you'd gone off too. [Sorry, Masaomi. She's going to take her hand back. Actually, she's going to tug her other hand from Hilda too. Her hands. Hers.
(Moment's over.)]
no subject
HE
WILL
KILL YOU. ]
Hello, Princess. It's nice to see you indeed.
no subject
Even though Crys has taken back her hands, Hilda still looks mildly victorious. She smiles smugly at Masaomi - tough love, boy - and then more friendly at Crys.]
I was partaking in a few of the foods and drinks they offer here. All are very delicious, though I find the latter in my favor. The bartender was very nice. [... And pretty. Everyone is pretty right now. Crys is especially pretty. Though, unlike Masaomi, Hilda knows how to keep her hands to herself.] You should join me, Crys.
no subject
Maybe later. [She's not a big drinker, but if Hilda gets her own she won't say no -- uh.] Did you see Megaree and Monlee? I think they went that way when I bumped into Masaomi.
[LITERALLY BUMPED.]

...
Actually, he knows that she would be someone that he would take home and -
Okay no. She's beautiful. He goes wide eyed and then... ]

Princess Hilda of Lorule, I formally challenge you right now!
no subject
She curtsies slightly to her rival and smiles widely, her wings fluttering without restraint. Very happy. So happy.]
I will gladly accept, Masaomi, to whatever challenge you present to me. [And, to Crys.] Monlee and I were dancing not too long ago, in fact, though I have not seen your beautiful flowerbeast. I believe they would not be far off as they are your companions.
no subject
[...If that's the case.]
I should probably make sure they're not getting into too much trouble. [She gives Masaomi an apologetic look - gonna have to take a rain check on that dance. Maybe in a little bit.] Megaree is pretty enthusiastic, and I'm not sure what I'd do if they got into the drinks...
[She'll step back and lift her dress a little in a curtsy, then drop it again.]
I promise I'll be back, though. I... [She licks her lips, then turns away; she's feeling a little shy.] I liked where our conversation was going, Masaomi. I wouldn't mind continuing it.

Crys needs to leave. So Hilda will be gently pushing her aside and taking her place in front of Masaomi. Pay attention to her.]
I wish you the best of luck in finding them, Crys. Let us meet up afterwards and have a dance ourselves. [Go.]
no subject
oh, oh no, she's going. She's going! Look. Look at her go. Right there. There she goes. Have fun.]
no subject
You were supposed to put in a good word for me, Princess.
[ He's actually more than a little mad, and turns to her with a frown at her ]
no subject
[Especially Crys. For some reason. Hilda is very thankful to see her go, though more because she doesn't want someone to dance with Crys before she does. It is only proper to dance with person you came with first.]
Now, do you have one in mind?
no subject
I don't know, I'll decide after I get a drink too. Unless you just want to make it up to me by giving me a kiss you just stole.
[ WAS THAT TOO MEAN. Whatever not like she's a normal girl. He motions for her to follow as he heads to the bar ]
no subject
I would rather you kept your kisses for the girl you are interested in, even if I will have a dance with her before you. [Hilda's confidence is shaking just a little because of his obvious annoyance, but she pushes forward.] I do not think that this small interruption will ruin your night with her.
[If it helps any.]
