[Sokka gives Kai a rather suspicious look.]

Well then you can't be an airbender, pure and simple.

[If there was any logic and reason in this world whatsoever, then at least the laws of his OWN world—thus, the laws of who became benders—still held.]

[bisons]

[Kai rolled his eyes then sent a blast of wind at Sokka that hit from the feet first and rose up - like he was trying to knock a hat off.]

Shows what you know.

[Sokka isn't blasted away by this or anything, but the rush of wind past his face is annoying as anything. His warrior's wolf tail bobs slightly with the blast of air, and once Sokka opens his eyes a bit, it's hard to tell if he's more upset at Kai for doing that or more upset at the world for doing this to him.]

Pfffft. [It's less him sticking his tongue out and more catching his breath after being hit with sand to the face. He turns around and throws his hands up in the air.]

That's it, I give up, karma. I give up trying to understand this place.

[But yet he still turns back to Kai, pointing at him.]

How—? Why—? What!?

[Kai shrugged and put his arms back behind his head.]

This Harmonic Whatchamacallit thing happened a few weeks ago and Korra, the Avatar, opened some portals to the Spirit World and now there are loads of new airbenders popping up. I joined the new Air Nation as their first recruit.

[theideaguy]

Har-mon-ic... ... What-cha-ma-call-it. Right. [Sokka lingers over those syllables with an almost contempt, as if this kid were making it up on the spot. Except he knows he's not. But he'd certainly have thought maybe Ikki, Jinora, or maybe Korra would have prepped him for this.]

So... suddenly, airbenders everywhere? Just like that? [He shakes his head.] When will this world ever start making sense?

[bisons]

Pretty much.

[Kai gave another shrug.]

And don't think about it too hard, buddy. Not everyone is smart enough to understand this sort of thing. It's okay if you don't.

[Sokka just looks at Kai as his eye twitches just a little bit. But instead of responding, Sokka just closes the door between him and Kai. Out of sight, out of mind.]
