It's early morning in the quiet enclosure that will someday become Luceti. The sun is rising, birds are chirping in that annoyingly cheery way that makes you want to shoot them out of the trees, and the residents are beginning to wake up. Most of them are heading to work, either to farm, or to build, or to work the shops, or even just to prepare a nice breakfast for their families and neighbours. Everyone has something to do.

And then, out of nowhere, a couple hundred strangers show up in the middle of the woods.

At first there is confusion, and no shortage of caution, from the neighbours; newcomers are common enough, but usually they are announced beforehand, and never in such great numbers. The leaders of the town are called in to ask questions. The newcomers are free to explore, but any aggression will be met in kind; if need be, the Filial of the past will defend their homes. They're hoping it won't come to that, however. You're stuck with one another for a long time, after all.

Thankfully, there is one man who might be able to bring the natives and newcomers together: Tyr.

...And the other guy, maybe. We'll see.

[ Rin does not recognize Simon. He does not know he's from the modern era as opposed to the past. Ad such, because he thinks he's from the past, as Simon is going out to look for some supplies or something in the town proper, the boy with the tail is going to try to intercept. ]

'Ey, mister! 'xcuse me!

[What a coincidence. Simon doesn't recognize Rin either, so he'll play things safe and assume that this kid is from the current era. For now, anyway. He gives Rin a rather passive stare, then tilts his head to get a better look at that tail. ......Huh.]

... Yes?

Do you know where Relares is?

[ That's "Romeaus" ]

[jailbirdprosecutor]

[Re...lares? That sounds almost European.]

No. I have never heard of this... Relares you speak of.

[rashness]

Oh, really? [ ... Oh wait. He holds up one finger and rummages in his pocket for a fairly crumpled post-it note. Oh, boo, he did it again... ]

I mean "Romayus," actually.

[Simon gives the post-it note a rather unimpressed stare. What is this kid even looking for?]

Alas, that is just as unfamiliar to me. Is this Romayus you seek a resident of the village?

...Yes?

[ Yes. Yeah, he would be, given John told him to look for him . . . ]

... You sound uncertain.

[Does this kid himself even know what he's looking for?]

I'm pretty sure he's here!

Do you hold any clues as to his identity other than a name?

[rashness]

...No.

Not really?

Then, I suspect your search will be an arduous one.

But I'm not wearing armor.

Arduous. Is it your ears that need a good cleaning, or is your sense of comprehension simply dulled to the point where you cannot remember a single word?

My ears work just fine, you jerk. It's not like I don't hear things, you're the one just compressing big words into weird words no one uses!

["-No one uses"? Come now, surely there's an abundance of people who use the word arduous on a regular basis. Surely.]

Tsk. What a self-centered thing to say. Have you taken cultural differences into consideration?

It's your culture to talk about wearing armor because it's hard? What, are you some sort of knight?

... No. It's arduous, not harduous. It means troublesome, nothing more. [He's really not sure how much clearer he can make this.]
