It's early morning in the quiet enclosure that will someday become Luceti. The sun is rising, birds are chirping in that annoyingly cheery way that makes you want to shoot them out of the trees, and the residents are beginning to wake up. Most of them are heading to work, either to farm, or to build, or to work the shops, or even just to prepare a nice breakfast for their families and neighbours. Everyone has something to do.

And then, out of nowhere, a couple hundred strangers show up in the middle of the woods.

At first there is confusion, and no shortage of caution, from the neighbours; newcomers are common enough, but usually they are announced beforehand, and never in such great numbers. The leaders of the town are called in to ask questions. The newcomers are free to explore, but any aggression will be met in kind; if need be, the Filial of the past will defend their homes. They're hoping it won't come to that, however. You're stuck with one another for a long time, after all.

Thankfully, there is one man who might be able to bring the natives and newcomers together: Tyr.

...And the other guy, maybe. We'll see.

Maybe. It definitely looked like some shifty business. I'm pretty sure I saw some blonde hair mixed up in there, too!

Blonde hair...? Come on, that'd just be silly! I-I mean, I'm pretty much as Japanese as they come! And how many blonde Japanese people do you know?

In person, I can't say I know many Japanese people at all... but on cartoons, that's a different story. [Her denials are starting so sound suspiciously specific, but he'll try to remain casual about this whole deal.]

I'm pretty sure cartoons don't count.

Not normally, but this place already is like a cartoon show on a daily basis.

Yeah, well... well... okay. You kind of have a point there, actually. [Maybe this could be here chance to change the subject!]

And you know, with all this time travel business going down, we're probably gearing up to a season finale or something. Which means something big is probably gonna go down soon.

A season finale? Are you sure this isn't just one of the episodes in the middle where something silly happens? I like those.

It all seems pretty serious to me. I mean, time travel isn't exactly a simple process. So there's no way we would have been sent here unless it was for something really important.

But they didn't exactly tell us why we're here. There aren't any clues, are there?

Not yet, maybe. But a good finale's gotta have some mystery and build-up! Otherwise it'll be a total let-down when we reach the inevitable plot-twist.

[He rubs his head.]

I don't think my head's ready for any plot twists... I'm still trying to wrap my head around Miss Blonde and Sparkly.

Sounds more like you should get your eyes checked, if you ask me. Maybe the shift incompatibility is affecting you too?

Oh, something shifty is going on here. I know that much! [He says teasingly as he crosses his arms confidently.]

...that was terrible.

[He points a finger.]

But you didn't deny anything!

Probably because I was in shock over your god-awful pun.

Hey, it wasn't that bad! Maybe you just haven't heard enough good comedy.

Uh-huh. Look, I don't know what you think you saw, but it doesn't have anything to do with me. And why do you even care, anyway?

I know what I think I know that I saw. And... I just had to make sure it's not something you want to talk about.

[He slumps his shoulders.]

But I know what it's like to have to keep something secret from others. So... I can leave you be. [He realized he'd be saying a lot of things similar to her if their positions were reversed and his true form was under the spotlight.]

[It's probably as close to an admission as he's going to get, for now. And while his own comments made her curious, she's not about to go questioning him after he finally relented on questioning her.]

[So for now, she just turns on her heel to leave.]

We should all probably start heading for the village. There's a lot we'll all have to do before it gets late, you know?

Right. [He nods.]

I kind of got distracted for a while there - I have to find my friends and see if our house is still around. As long as we don't have to live in caves...

[...wait hold on.]

What do you mean "still around"? Are that many buildings missing?

[She hasn't really checked herself, being too distracted by the whole transformation mishap back there.]

Well I didn't have that much of a look around... but the village looked a whole lot emptier. A lot of those community buildings - they're definitely gone.

G-Gone? [Oh geeze.]

But there's so many people here... you don't think we're gonna run out of room, do you?

Now that's just silly! I'm sure that we'll... wait, what if we do run out?!
