Timey-Wimey Nonsense Part 1

Who: Everyone!
What: The Time Travel Trip 2014
When: HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO
Where: Luceti before it was cool Luceti
Summary: The residents are dragged into the past thanks to John's latest Shift. More information is here and here, and, ICly, here.
Rating: Varied

It's early morning in the quiet enclosure that will someday become Luceti. The sun is rising, birds are chirping in that annoyingly cheery way that makes you want to shoot them out of the trees, and the residents are beginning to wake up. Most of them are heading to work, either to farm, or to build, or to work the shops, or even just to prepare a nice breakfast for their families and neighbours. Everyone has something to do.

And then, out of nowhere, a couple hundred strangers show up in the middle of the woods.

At first there is confusion, and no shortage of caution, from the neighbours; newcomers are common enough, but usually they are announced beforehand, and never in such great numbers. The leaders of the town are called in to ask questions. The newcomers are free to explore, but any aggression will be met in kind; if need be, the Filial of the past will defend their homes. They're hoping it won't come to that, however. You're stuck with one another for a long time, after all.

Thankfully, there is one man who might be able to bring the natives and newcomers together: Tyr.

...And the other guy, maybe. We'll see.

((mingle and explore at will! further questions can be redirected to either of the posts linked above. NPCs will be available for plotty stuff soon.))

A most noble and valorous act, I am certain.

It was for five minutes and then Star Fleet tallied up the damage I had done to the Enterprise and it wasn't so brave or full of valor.

Details. Lives were saved! A vessel might be prepared in time but lives? There is no replacing them.

That's true - until you see the repair bill.

[ It's a mild day and the forest is serene. There's little to mind other than the squirrels and the birds thusfar. ]

Your aim, Jim. How fares it?

With my gun? Pretty good. With a bow and arrow? Not so much. Rocks are so-so, and don't bother handing me a spear.

Your phaser has a stun setting, does it not?

Yes, that's one of them. There are others, but I prefer stun.

Why? You planning on having me stun our catch before you go in for the final blow?

I wish you to feel as though you have contributed. Not all game we stun may be what we wish to kill. There are many beasts and not all would suit our purposes.

So why waste the effort going after them if we aren't going to want to kill them anyways? Wouldn't it be more efficient just to go after the ones we want?

What one might mark from a distance and see as good fare may yet upon closer inspection have a flaw that would sour the meat- or some sign of having those that rely upon it for their continued survival.

You see, this is why people started farms. So this over exertion nonsense would stop. A cow is so much easier than a buck that may or may not be good meat.

We've no farm nor ranch at the moment, Jim. We make do with what we must.

Yeah yeah. Just tell me when to shoot I guess, since I'll be crap for deciding what's good and not.
