What, seriously? You should try it more often! Traveling is so much better when you've got magic in your side, after all.

...but I guess can see the high heels being kind of a deterrent, huh.

Actually it's mostly because the enemy only ever seems to attack Tokyo.
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (Just keep telling yourself that.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-11 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Only Tokyo, huh. You'd think they'd have better luck attacking somewhere that doesn't have it's own team of fighting magical girls to combat their devious plans...
faithfulflame: (Rei Sidelong)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-11 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I assume there's a reason. It's likely that they knew Tokyo was where the Ginzuisho was.

[She assumes Kari knows what that is, by now.]
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (It's called sarcasm.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-12 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Either that or they're just super dumb. [The most logical conclusion.] But hey, I guess it's probably better for you guys that they're not setting off attacks on the other side of the globe all the time. Even with teleporting, that'd probably be a big pain.
faithfulflame: (Mars Annoyed)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-12 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh without a doubt. I'd say it's really fortunate, if...you know...the enemy wasn't evil. I have never really figured out the motivation for that kind of thing. Is power really worth all the trouble?
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (U N S U R E.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-12 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm... it's hard to say without knowing why they want it in the first place. I mean, I've dealt with my fair share of enemies in the past and... usually I can at least understand where they're coming from, even if I don't agree with it. [...] But sometimes they're just nuts.
faithfulflame: (Mars Made of Stern Stuff)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-13 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Yeah. They probably are.

[Or...they're misguided somehow? Rei's never stopped to really think about them, and given their methods...they sort of have to be evil.]
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (Just as I suspected.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-13 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I'm never sure what's worse. For them to be too crazy to negotiate with, or to be so sympathetic you almost feel bad making them lose. I've had to deal with both before, and let me tell you, it's no fun.
faithfulflame: (Mars Cute)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-13 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
And just want sort of enemies do you have? I never asked.
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (That's how Sailor Moon did it!)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-13 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, there's basically three different types. First, there's the weird bounty-hunter types who come to my world looking to steal my pendant -- and thankfully, there's only been a few of them. [And seeing as they're the ones who actually follow her to her world, they're definitely at the top of the list in terms of being the most dangerous.]

Then there's the people I accidentally manage to piss off when I visit other worlds -- again, only a few, but they've probably been some of the more crazy ones. [Which includes the few she also doesn't like to talk about.]

And then there's the special cases, who started out as enemies, but then stuff happened and now we're friends!
faithfulflame: (Mars Bored Now)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-13 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I can't say I have many enemies like that back home. But...um...why would anyone want to steal your pendant? Isn't it dangerous?

[She is not fond of the spirit, Kari. Not at all.]
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (Just keep telling yourself that.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-13 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
...to be honest, I still don't know the full details myself. But what I do know is that the power this pendant gives me isn't very common, even in worlds where world-traveling is known to be possible. I mean, the first time I figured out how to use it? It was just by making a wish. It's not like I ever had any experience with magic before. And if you consider all the power I know it has on top of the powers I haven't figured out yet, that makes this thing pretty powerful.

[Immense magical power and the ability to manipulate time and space? Yeah, powerful is actually kind of an understatement.]

Of course, I'm pretty sure most of the people who want to steal it from me don't know about the creepy spirit thing that listens in on your thoughts all day long. Or that fact that the stupid thing can't be removed. Since, to be perfectly honest, if I could just give it away, I probably would.
faithfulflame: (Mars Torso)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-14 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Would you really?

[That's a genuine question.]

I wouldn't give up being Mars for anything. Even if it is dangerous. But you'd give up being Hoshikyo? All that freedom?
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (U N S U R E.)

1/2

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-14 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Freedom? Maybe that's how your powers feel, but not mine.

[She brings a hand up to her chest, tapping her fingertips against her pendent.]

The only reason I started traveling to different worlds was to find some way of getting rid of them. I mean, sure it's kinda cool and all -- creepy spirit thing aside. But my magic is practically a beacon for anyone trying to find this thing. And as long as it exists in my world, no one there is safe... probably not even me.
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (Just as I suspected.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-14 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
[And here's the part where she laughs, trying to diffuse what is definitely an uncomfortable topic.]

But then, my world's kind of a crapshoot anyway. So who knows. Maybe some other-worldly invaders would just jazz the place up?
faithfulflame: (Mars Soft Smile)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-14 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Mars rolls her shoulder and shrugs it off. It's clearly uncomfortable for Kari, and she guesses that the other girl probably doesn't want to talk about it. And if she doesn't, then far be it for her to pry. That's not right, at all.]

Maybe. But...here we are anyway.

[By here, she means of course the rock outcropping.]

magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (Just keep telling yourself that.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-15 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, right! [Here they are indeed!]

[...how does one look for magic rocks exactly.]

So, uh. Should I just start cutting into stuff until we hit something, I guess? I don't think we're gonna be lucky enough to find some just laying around, after all.
faithfulflame: (Mars Cocky)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-15 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
That seems best. You're the one with the magic sword.

[She wasn't that lucky...]
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (That's how Sailor Moon did it!)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-15 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, sure. But if we find any of those rocks, I'm gonna make you carry them. [And she's only half joking.]

[But without further ado, she reaches out a hand and materializes her sword, grasping it tightly as she approaches the closest boulder. With a bright flash of rainbow light, she charges up the blade, before swinging it down onto the rock. After a few seconds, the rock splits cleanly in two and topples down on either side.]

[Of course, one big cut won't tell them too much about the composition of the whole thing, so she puts a few more cuts into one of the halves, slicing it up with ease as though it were a baked potato.]
faithfulflame: (Mars Smile)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-15 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright.

[She will cheat. And once the rock is cut up, Mars peers at the potato-rock, looking at the various layers of sliced open rock.]

And what color is it again? There's some irregular colors there, at least. And definite changes in striation.

[Oh god she sounds like Ami!]
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (Just keep telling yourself that.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-17 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
[She pauses what she's doing before she answers -- as easy as she makes it seem, powering her sword with enough magic to make it sharp enough took a lot of concentration.]

...kinda silvery, with a more blue-ish color. And assuming that picture I took is accurate, it should have some kind of levitating properties too. Of course, probably not on a big scale, or we'd be better off searching the skies...
faithfulflame: (Rei Red Dress)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-18 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, starting to scan the rock, Mars points out a few flecks that seem near the center.]

Like this? Or a different shade?
magicalesbian: Hoshikyo (Just keep telling yourself that.)

[personal profile] magicalesbian 2014-11-19 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it looks pretty silvery to me... but I guess there's an easier way to find out.

[And she'll just recharge up her sword, the blade glowing a faint white color, before dragging it gently along the silvery striations, trying to bring up some smaller chunks aside from the finely cut slice she made in the first place.]

[...but nothing happens!]

...okay, I guess it wouldn't be much of a quest if we found it in the first try, huh.
faithfulflame: (Mars Warding)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-11-19 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
No, I suppose not. Maybe it's just trace metals the spell detected. Or maybe it's deeper in the rocks.

[She shrugs and puts her hand against a chunk, beginning to infuse the stone with heat.]

Give me a second and I'll see about making it more pliant.
