[Cilan, for his part, has so far made sure that the threat of starvation doesn't happen, but despite best efforts to chart and map their location, that part hasn't been going so well, not when they keep getting lost like this.]

That's what you said about the last path we took, and look where that has brought us so far. [Accompanied with a slight hand gesture to their surroundings. He's not sure if this new direction you're suggesting can be one hundred percent guaranteed.] Are you sure about this taste, Ash?

Well, it's not like it looks any different from th' other directions.

[ With all these trees they can't even see the mountains.. wherever they are let alone knowing which direction they're going at all. ]

'Sides, if anything happens we'll be able to handle it! Right Pikachu?

[ A sound of agreement from Pikachu! See Cilan, Pikachu agrees with Ash. ]

[Hrm...]

I suppose, but I still have my doubts about going in that direction--there isn't even a discernible path to follow, from what I can see. [That direction you pointed is pretty dense-looking, in his opinion. He really doesn't want to have to continue pushing their way through thick trees and bushes, so instead (after a moment of looking around and squinting) he gestures about a few feet to the left of where Ash indicated before, where the area in front of them appears to be a little less dense.]

What if we tried going that way instead? The trees seem like they would thin out a little more if we head in that direction.

It doesn't look that bad! And we've been able to get this far without a path!

[ Far being in the middle of a hot jungle but the point is they've made it far from the village yeah. But Ash looks at the direction that Cilan suggested and shrugs. ]

Well...I guess we can go that way. Okay, we'll try your way this time.

[ And before anymore can even be said Ash starts walking in that direction! ]

[Gosh, someone's in a hurry to get somewhere, aren't they...]

Ash, try not to be too hasty--this direction may be more suitable, but it would still be best to proceed with caution--[Especially since, once you start heading in that indicated direction, the path abruptly slopes downward, so try not to slip and fall. ^^;;]

[ There may not be any gyms anywhere but this traveling has just been super exciting okay! ]

Don't worry, we're watching where we're goiiin--!

[ Nope. Not watching at all as he finds himself slipping downward from the sudden downward slope with Pikachu squealing from the sudden fast movement.

Oops. ]

Ash! [Cilan attempts to catch up, albeit moving a little more cautiously so that he too doesn't slip downward too fast and crash into Ash. Thankfully there aren't any sharp rocks or something like that down this slope, because that would really hurt. Instead the bottom of this slope has some bushes, though they probably wouldn't be fun to end up in face-first either.

Anyway, once he does catch up to him--]

See, I warned you not to be too hasty, didn't I?

[Yes Cilan, make an "I told you so" sort of statement right now, that's completely acceptable.]

Oooww...

[ Thankfully Ash isn't too hurt from the trip down the slope. Just the typical little scratches that one would get from a fall like that. But it's a very good thing that there weren't any sharp rocks down the slope and the bushes weren't that bad of a break. We were lucky enough not to run into it head first?

Ash and Pikachu both rub their heads once they reached the bottom of the slope before Ash turns to Cilan and gives him a nervous smile. ]

Y-Yeah, you did. We'll try and be a little more careful next time. But are you still sure this was the right direction to go in?

[cilantro]

Y--yes, I'm sure it is. [For a second, Cilan looks down at the notes he's written so far regarding their travels out here.] Based on my notes, we should be able to reach the end of the jungle here if we continue in this direction. This slope here was just a slight miscalculation, that's all.

[Otherwise that would mean admitting that he might have been wrong about something, and you know how Cilan is when it comes to admitting things like that sometimes, right?]

Great! Once we get outta here we can start heading to the mountains!

[ Hopefully they'll be near the mountains when they get out and they're not on the other side of the jungle or something. But either way Ash picks himself up and once he's sure that Pikachu is okay starts making headway in the direction Cilan picked!

Nothing else can possibly go wrong now, right? Like giant bugs. ]

[Did somebody say giant bugs? Because we could certainly include those to spice up this little journey of ours...]

Right! In comparison to the jungle here, I'm sure that the mountains will have an exciting taste to them once we get there.

[But so far, Cilan hasn't noticed anything off once he's now caught up with Ash.

(Unless you count that faint rustling noise that seems to drift through the air near them, but maybe that's just normal noise to hear in the jungle...)]

Yea, I bet they will!

[ Ash doesn't take note of the faint rustling noise in the forest, but Pikachu does. His ears perk when he hears the rustling. Once he's able to pinpoint the direction he looks over which Ash does take note of. Because Pikachu. ]

Eh? Pikachu? Is there something over there?

[ Pikachu will try to warn both of them but it's only a matter of time before that rustling become buzzing and then a swarm of giant bees appear ]

oh my gosh I'm already screaming

[OH GOD]

I--I think it's running time, now! [Because yeah, Cilan's gonna be running like hell away from the swarm of giant bees now, okay. At least until they get somewhere where they won't follow, or a clearing where it would be easier to have their Pokemon take care of them rather than here where they are surrounded by a ton of trees.

Of course, he grabs Ash's hand too so that the other doesn't get left behind, because what kind of friend would we be to leave you on your own to deal with them.]

U-Waaah!

[ WHERE DID THEY COME FROM. Ash nearly stumbles as he's pulled by Cilan into a run so he's not left behind. Thankfully it doesn't take him long to get up to speed with Pikachu right at his heels.

It's kinda of hard running through this Jungle though Cilan didn't you say this part had a more distinct path where's this path of yours right now we could use it.

But with enough running they will get to a small clearing. That also happens to be a dead end. Because that's just how their life rolls. ]

[HEY, he was right! ...Sort of, I mean, it did clear out a little once they reached this area.

The dead end though was completely unaccounted for, but if given enough time for excuses, he could say that he accidentally veered off the path when they were running away...yeah...]

Oh...well, perhaps we've lost them by--[A short-lived thought however, because the buzzing noise quickly catches up, indicating that no, the bees are still right there behind them. And they're probably really peeved about having had to chase them out here.

So uh, Cilan is gonna give up on finishing that sentence to let go of Ash's hand and take out a poke'ball. Let's hope the bees are not resistant to Pokemon attacks, yeah?]

[ Veered off the path when they were mostly running straight ok Cilan.

Ash almost sighs in relief before he also hears the buzzing noise catching up. The moment his hand is let go he looks right at Pikachu, who crouches down and prepares to attack. ]

Ready Pikachu? [ Pikachu gives him a determined response. Hopefully they're not resistant because here they come! ]

[cilantro]

[Out comes Pansage, ready to go as well.]

Use Bullet Seed! [Pansage nods before it jumps and fires seeds out of it's mouth, as if attempting to shoot down as many bees as it can that are in range, which sort of helps push them back from getting too close at the moment. Of course, there's too many of them to try to take out of all of them, but hey, that's what Ash and Pikachu are for.]

Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!

[ Pikachu jumps and unleashes the electric attack at the bees, trying to take out any that Pansage isn't hitting and knocking them either back or down. Looks like the two together are taking them down. Sort of. These bees are tougher than any Beedrill they ever faced. ]

[Indeed]

Hrm, they have quite a tough flavor to them, don't they... [He had hoped that they'd go down pretty quick since they weren't like Pokemon, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Either way, Pansage does it's best to try to shoot them down with Bullet Seed despite that.]

Yeah, but we can take 'em! Pikachu, hit 'em with all you got!

[ Pikachu keeps up the Thunderbolts, using some extra charge when he can. Eventually the bees start to dwindle in numbers, though Pikachu is all tuckered out by the time they're finally gone.

At least, that's what they can hope, right? ]

[Pansage does it's best to take them out, but it too is pretty tired by the time they appear to have won the battle. Since it seems safe now, Cilan leans down to pick up his Pokemon.]

It looks like we managed to get rid of them... [sigh] We'll have to be careful from now on so as not to attract attention from any other unsavory creatures that might be living here.

[But hey, at least it was just bees this time, right...]

Y-Yeah... but which way do we go now, Cilan?

[ Pikachu hops back onto Ash's shoulder as he turns to ask his friend the question. It was Cilan that picked this direction so he should know which way to go from the bottom of this cliff right? ]

[cilantro]

Well, let's see. [Cilan takes out the writing pad he's been using to take note of their surroundings during their travels. He writes something down and then...stares at it for a minute, before turning it sideways for a second as if that somehow answers the question of where they are, before turning it rightside up again.]

Okay, if my notes are correct, and if the taste of the wind is to be trusted, then the best way to go now would be... [He holds up a finger for a second or two, thinking, before he points towards their left.] ...in this direction.

[...No, he's totally not just guessing at this point, he's surely got many reasons to think that's the best direction to take...]

And this way is gonna lead us outta this jungle and to the mountains, right?

[ Because after that ordeal he would like to get out of this jungle before they are attacked by bees again. Or something else. Let's not think about what else could be here in this jungle right now.

Before he even gets an answer from Cilan though he's going to start walking. Just for that reason. Hopefully left is right and right was not right. ]

Of course! [Wait, hang on Ash, don't walk off without him! Cilan is quick to make sure to go after him, trying to match the other's pace as he continues speaking.]

I'm certain of it, we'll be out of this jungle before you know it! What happened earlier was simply just an unexpected occurrence, that's all. [Cilan, that's what you said about that "mis-calculated slope" earlier too...]
