Summary: It's that special time when the Malnosso collect all their recent experiments and apply them all at once to measure effectiveness. Although invaluable as research, it tends to leave the subjects looking just a bit mad.

[Man, look at that kid pack those sweets away. And looking is all Pilouette can do since she's currently a tiny dog and can't so much as get the door open. Getting baked goods is so much easier when you're human. Sigh. This is really bumming her out, so for the moment she's just going to sit out front, staring in and grumbling to herself like the whiner she is, occasionally letting out an especially loud whine.]

That kid is so lucky...!

[Eh?? He blinks before turning, looking this way and that. Did he just hear something? It sounded like a pooch — aha!! There! A pooch indeed! He grins big and starts over opening the door.]

Oi, are you missing, little puppy? I bet someone's probably looking for you...

[Yes! As he opens the door, her tail wags gleefully. The scents emanating from the bakery smell even better than usual somehow...! Without thinking, she answers his question right away.]

I don't think anyone is looking for me. Like, I don't know why they would. It's not like I had anything planned today...

[She got distracted by all them delicious breads and what not for a second. Oh man, so goo- oh, she should probably answer his question.]

I don't think so? Like, what's a NEXT?

A-a NEXT is someone with powers! They don't have them sometimes until they're older though—most of the time, when they're my age! I think.

Powers, huh? I'm definitely not one then... Oh! But does that mean you do?!

[No shortage of this kind of stuff in Luceti! He doesn't look like the kind of person who would have the kind of powers that seem to show up here, but that makes it that much more amazing, doesn't it? Her tail wags a little.]

What kind of powers are they?

Well... I'm not very good at any of it, but I when I use it I can hear super good, or I can make my eyes see better, but I'm really good at lifting up really heavy things--I get super strong, y'know?

Ooooh! That's like, so cool... It must be like, a totally convenient thing to be able to do, huh? Jammed doors, stuck pickle jars, moving furniture...Wow~!

[She's not even joking here, Kotetsu. Not. Even. Joking.]

N-not really. Not yet, I mean...

I'm not very good at using it. I just... cause trouble and make messes when I use it. [He frowns, remembering a series of bent signs, or broken tables, or glass.] I can't control it yet...

[She scratches behind one of her ears, thinking.]

Well, you're still young, so you'll get it eventually. Really, it's kinda cool that you even have powers like this, you know? Like, it's good that you have something you can get good at. Not everyone has that, you know?

Really...? [Here's a kid crouching with a dog, having a meaningful conversation. Weird.] You think I can actually get good at it? I mean... I don't know if I can really do that...

I think so. The hero never knows how to control their powers or whatever at first. Bad stuff happens, but they get used to their powers after a while and end up using their powers to like, save everybody.

I mean, that's how it works in the movies and stuff, right?

[littlekidtetsu]

You think so? [He sighs, though.] But this isn't a movie... And I'm not the hero...

But the hero is never a hero at first either, right? Isn't the hero always like, just some guy?

But I guess movies and real life do tend to be kind of different...

[Her ears droop a little. She feels a little bad, not being able to lift this kid's mood.]

Yeah... I don't think I can be as cool as the heroes on tv... I mean. I'm just a kid, anyway. I can't do any of that stuff, 'specially since I could end up hurting someone...

You won't be a kid forever, though! You'll grow up eventually! Maybe you'll have it down by then!

And...if it makes you feel any better, I'm still just a kid, too. I don't have anything special about me like you do, though.

Of course you're special! You turned into a talking dog! And even if you weren't a dog, I bet you have a lot of really cool special stuff about you!

W-Well, I don't know about that. I mean, like, there's nothing I'm really good at, you know? And I haven't even been a talking dog very long at all...

Well, what else can you do? You gotta' do some things, right?

I guess I can cook a little bit. Or...I could. I usually can. I'm not like, super good at it, or anything.

Well see! That's good! I can't cook at all, and I know there are plenty of adults who can't cook either...

I though cooking was one of those things that people just had to do...I'm not sure I'm good enough at it for it to be special, but...
