Summary: It's that special time when the Malnosso collect all their recent experiments and apply them all at once to measure effectiveness. Although invaluable as research, it tends to leave the subjects looking just a bit mad.

[Day 4]

[The day starts normal for Yoh, the house feels strangely empty but he chalks it to it being one of those days in which the absence of their parents is noticed a bit more. Things are fine, though, even with them gone, both he and his little sister are managing and they still have their uncle if they ever need an adult.

It's not until breakfast is ready and there are still no signs of his sister that Yoh starts to get worried. Checking her room reveals... Nothing. None of her things, and even the normally chill and calm Yoh feels a stone of fear sunk in his stomach. It's no different from when their parents vanished after all, all their things vanished as well. He tackles the journal before going out to search for her, trying to sound calm but obviously slightly agitated.]

Good morning... Yoh here. H... Has anyone seen my sister Madoka? Madoka if you can hear this, mind telling me where are you?

[Days 5-10]

[After the good scare of the other day, what with believing that his sister had vanished, Yoh will return to his normal and chill self. And spend his time just living life as always, doing groceries, taking walks, spending five hours staring at the landscape from some random spot... Really, feel free to create any scenario you want, he's going to be anywhere and everywhere.]

[ .. Yes, this was strange, definitely strange - she woke up somewhere where she didn't think she had fallen asleep.. Maybe she was visiting Yui and accidentally fell asleep there? Ah! Wait, that's a big problem, Yoh is probably worried about her, right?

So Madoka quickly gets up to get to her journal and open it, finding the message. ]

Ah, Yoh..! I-.. I'm sorry, I'm alright! Please don't worry..

[He is actually beyond worried because none of her things are home, if it was just her missing he would have considered that she fell asleep at a friend's home. He lets out a sigh of relief upon hearing her voice and relaxes immediately, whatever happened it doesn't matter anymore, she's safe and still there.]

You gave me a good scare. Where are you?

I'm over at a friend's place, I'm not sure how it happened either..

[ She's still trying to figure that out. Along with why most of her things are here too.. ]

.. I'll come home in a little bit, okay? I just need to gather up everything and come back.. This is so strange.

It's okay, don't worry. Are you at Yui's place? I will go and help you with your things.

[Unless you get stubborn in refusing help in which case he will just kick his feet up and relax while watching you drag everything alone.]

[ She might get stubborn, just a little, but.. she doesn't mind seeing him at all. It's rather nice after all the confusion, so she's just quick to agree instead. ]

If it's not too much trouble..

[Yoh laughs a bit.]

Of course not it's not. We'll be there soon.

[Where "we" means Amidamaru and himself, of course. But she should be used to Yoh talking about spirits by now.]

[ Yes, she doesn't find it weird in the slightest for him to say 'we'. She just nods at it before closing the journal again. She's already gathering up some of the stuff - it seems Yui's not here right now either way, but she'll just send the other girl a message later about all of it, maybe she knows what happened?

Either way, she'll just be waiting for him there. ]

[As he goes to fetch his little sister, Yoh mostly reasons that it has probably been a shift. The whole village is kind of upside down with rampant shifts anyway so it's the most logical explanation.

Have a smiling brother knocking at the door of Yui's place if you're not outside already, Madoka.]

[ She's about to come outside, really! She has all her stuff neatly tucked away she she can carry it over, it's not like it's too much stuff, either way..

And she smiles back at him brightly the moment she opens the door. ]

Ah, Yoh..! I'm glad you're here!

I told you we wouldn't take long. Are you ready? Did you tell Yui?

[Even if it's logical that she would go back to her home it's still polite to tell her friend that she's leaving. They don't want more people getting heart attacks over Madoka vanishing.]

I think she's out.. [ She scratches the back of her head a little. ] I left her a note though, so it should be okay. And I'll come explain to her later too, maybe she can tell what exactly happene then, since it's so weird..

But it's okay now, right?

Don't worry too much about it, maybe it was just a shift. People have been complaining about those the past week.

[It's funny how, as soon as he knows she's safe and around, Yoh stops worrying about what happened. Sure, knowing why it happened and such would be nice but he's not going to stress over it. He takes her bags, ready to go.]

Anyway, let's get home. Have you had breakfast yet?

[ She nods a little when he talks about the first part. Really, she's usually sort of relying on him either way - or at least trusting him fully, so if he says it's probably not a big deal, she's inclined to believe it. ]

Not yet.. Would it be a problem to still make some now when we get home..?

[She's a good little sister. Though she would be good even if she argued everything he said, with the way Yoh is he would love her anyway. Yoh chuckles and shakes his head, what kind of question is that, Madoka?]

Of course not! When has that been a problem? What do you want for breakfast?

[ She's just making sure! ]

Ehehe, I just thought since it's already later in the morning now.. but if you say it's fine, then I'm glad! [ she smiles sweetly at him - she totally has the best big brother, okay. ]

Anything would be fine though. Um.. maybe we could make it together? Wouldn't that be fun..?

Mmhmm, cooking together is always fun, I like it a lot.

[He doesn't mind doing all the cooking though, but really, doing things together is always better. He's just this type of older brother who will carry all her bags and luggage with a smile and without complain, cook for her and take care of her in general, yet won't say anything against her helping or doing things on her own. There's little in the world that can tick Yoh and there are even less things that would make him tick regarding his sister.]

We can make something for you to eat once we arrive and then we will go and put all your things back in place, okay?

Hmm! [ a giggle, and she picks up her own share of the stuff to carry - less than Yoh, but she at least wants to make sure to take care of her own share as well, she would feel bad to pile everything on him. ]

.. You know.. I'm really glad. When I woke up, I was a little panicked and I thought something really bad might have happened, but.. everything is still fine. I'm so glad..

[Yoh smiles a bit sadly at her remark, knowing well why both of them would assume the worst upon something like this happening. It's not a nice experience to have your parents vanishing, it's even worse than them dying, because when they die at least you still know where they are and Yoh could still see their spirits, maybe. They wouldn't be completely gone as they are now. For the siblings that only have each other now -even if there's still uncle Scorpius and aunt Misato-, losing the other would be a fatal strike.]

I know... It felt as if I was going to die on the spot when I checked your room and it was empty. But it doesn't matter now, we're both fine and safe, we're still together so there's no need to even think about that. Honestly I wish all the troubles would be and end like this.

[In nothing but a scare that vanishes in a matter of minutes.]

[ She makes a slightly scared noise at the 'going to die' part, don't even vaguely mention that, Yoh..! But she understands the feeling, she wouldn't know what to do if he would suddenly vanish too. She cares about him too much for that. ]

Let's hope everything stays fine then, right..?

[He at least has the decency of realizing his wording and making an apologetic expression, but being able to see spirits makes Yoh quite... "Hey there" regarding death, even if he knows not everyone else can see spirits. Of course he knows the weight of death and how it affects things and he doesn't want to die, but it's part of life and he knows it's not the end so between dying and vanishing in thin air? He prefers the first and thus has little problem talking about that.]

There's no need for that, remember? Everything is going to be alright, specially since we're together.

[Yoh's motto, even in this alternate universe, stays the same and with the same strength and conviction as always. It's that motto that gives him strength to go on everyday, that gave him strength to not crash to the ground when their parents vanished and to just stand up and take his sister with him. Sooner or later, things will always be alright.]

[ She knows it's because of that, really, and she knows of his ability. It's just.. still different to her since she doesn't have the ability herself, but sometimes she's already a little used to it.

And.. he wouldn't mind, right? At least she hopes he wouldn't mind what she's about to do next. She was so worried before that right now she just wants to be close to her brother for a moment, so she tries to hook arms with him as much as she can while they're still carrying the bags and other things. She doesn't say anything along with it, but she gives him a smile. Of course.. as long as they're together, it's fine. ]

[There's no way he would mind it. Yoh blinks a bit surprised for a moment at her movement, but it lasts just a few seconds until he realizes what she's doing. After that he just smiles peacefully, shifting the bags and hooking his arm with hers as much as possible as well, tugging her just a bit closer.

There's nothing else he could wish for, really. To just continue on with those peaceful days together with his sister, even if it's just them both. Then again they really aren't that alone, they still have family left and there's Amidamaru. The samurai does as much as he can to help even if he's just a spirit and Madoka can't see him, and he cares about them both a lot. Sure, it would be nice if their parents returned but... It's not needed and Yoh doesn't want to wish for things that aren't needed, not when there are others who really need those things. It wouldn't be fair to ask for more when happiness is already in his home.

He continues walking, arm hooked with hers for as long as she wants, or at least until they reach the house. He won't say anything else, just enjoying her company, the walk and the village's beauty in that way he likes to bask in even the smallest things. She's free to talk though and he will answer, but if not they will just do the rest of the way back home in silence.]

[ Madoka is okay with walking silently and just enjoying the mood and surroundings, really. Normally she might be a little more chatty, but.. there's almost something special about today, maybe it's since the scare that happened this morning turned out to be nothing.

She isn't going to let it be completely quiet though. After a little while, she softly starts to sing a song to herself. It's a little of a sad song lyrics-wise, but tone-wise it's pretty happy and nice. Originally she wrote this song in Luceti and sang it together with Homura, but.. with this kind of changed AU she probably wrote it instead on her own after their parents disappeared. It's a pretty nostalgic song in that sense, but it actually reminds her too of how she's at least still together with Yoh. And together.. it's fine. ]

Saying, "See you later," I wave my hand, forcing myself to smile, yet I'm feeling lonely...

[Yoh remembers this song in this life, and when she wrote it. It's a sad song, but it also depends on how you look at the lyrics, with eyes full of hope or eyes full of sadness. Yoh prefers to think positively and he's sure Madoka does as well which is probably why, despite the sad lyrics, the tone is pretty happy and nice. Yoh starts to hum softly as she sings, appreciating her singing voice and the moment of walking around together like this. A perfect moment even if one that started under awkward circumstances. Eventually he doesn't just hum, instead casually joining her voice softly.]

I'm pretending that I'm used to being alone, but I'm not really that strong
