Beach Party!?

Who: Anyone who wants to come!
What: BEACH PARTY! (For Katara or something)
When: In the evening, about 7PM
Where: On the beach! Somewhere!
Summary: It's Katara's 17th and while all friends of Team Avatar are invited, anyone else can gatecrash too.
Rating: E for everyone (for God's sake there's going to be seven year olds!)

[A few days before the birthday, Katara's housemates began birthday preparations. Not quite entirely secret, but they made invitations, told friends, spread the word, and so on. Birthday on the beach. Be there or be a loser McButtface without friends.

And so there's a party! With tables! And chairs! And umbrellas! And the sun is setting, but the Malnosso had no taste and put the ocean on the east side of Luceti, so it's a sunset over the mountains which isn't as cool as an ocean sunset. But anyway. There's a volleyball net and, you know, an ocean to swim in. Also Sokka ordered a generator with his mission points and abducted the karaoke machine. It was mostly to provide some music, but people can get up and sing with it too.

As for the food? There's a table for that. It's a bring your own dish affair, since Katara is kind of their team cook and they can't exactly make her own birthday meal, right? So anyone coming can bring whatever they like and set it out. The gang brought some meals of their own, so there's bound to be some cool dishes from the air nomads, water tribe, and fire nation. And cake. A big chocolate cake. Someone made it! We don't know who. (Feel free to dibs being the baker or something if you want.)

And a table! A table for presents! Bring a present, set it there. It's very organized.]

((ooc: It's out on the beach and just a general sort of party affair, so feel free to have characters show up even if they're not friends with the birthday girl. It's a free for all. SO YOU BETTER MINGLE OR THERE'S GONNA BE WORDS.

[ Ikki saw that, Shikamaru, and is at his side looking BETRAYED and HEARTBROKEN. ] Heeeeey! Now I can't reach!

[He has to be a responsible ninja babysitter, okay! Blame Katara, not him! D:]

I think that's the idea. How many have you already had?

[breezing]

[ Watch as Ikki suddenly gets shifty, looking at her feet and the table and the ocean and anywhere but Shikamaru. 8| ] J-just a few...

[ THREE BROWNIES, two slices of cake, and five lemon cookies. She's missed any spicy ones thus far. ]

AND I had lots of the healthy stuff, too!

[He would not BELIEVE HER. All the cookies are spicy, don't lie. 8|

But he crouches down beside her.]

That much? Where do you put it all?

[breezing]

[ SHE'S NOT LYING. Luck of the draw, bro. :)b

Ikki grins. ] I'm a growing girl! Mommy says so! And I've been playing with Vivi, and Jinora's here, and there's lots of stuff to do!

[ She peers around, then whispers her confession. ] I had three brownies and two pieces of cake 'cause someone thought I didn't have a first, and five lemon cookies!

[...ffff. Hot damn. His eyes widen in new appreciation.]

Sneaky.

[breezing]

[ She grins ] Yep! I can be a ninja too, huh? 'Cept mostly people are distracted right now. [ You know, party, gate-crashers, etc. ]

Exactly the kind of distraction a ninja would take advantage of.

[And here he is all crouched down out of sight of the table.]

[breezing]

What else would a ninja do? [ Ikki's short enough to be out of sight for most people, but she crouches down, too, putting her arms around her knees and preparing for instruction. ]

Depends on the mission. What kind of orders do you think we're looking at here?

[breezing]

...Get more lemon cookies? [ Unlikely, since he moved all the sweets, but Ikki's mind is in one place. ]

[endgames]

No, no. See, if you're a ninja you can't work for yourself! You get your assignment from your boss.

Sooo. Why don't you go ask either Aang or Katara about it. If they're okay with you having another sweet, then we'll see about teaching you some tricks.

[breezing]

Well, do you wanna be my boss? Or we can go ask people if they have missions!

[ THAT DECISION IS EASY. ] Grandpa Aang's more likely to say yes, so I could ask him!

[endgames]

[HE KNEW IT.]

I'm not a very good boss guy. [He's just a sitter now, orz.] Better go ask him.

[breezing]

[ WHY WOULD SHE ASK KATARA, WHO WOULD SEE THROUGH HER TO THE AMOUNTS OF SWEETS SHE'S ALREADY HAD? ]

Well...okay! But you have to promise not to go anywhere!

[endgames]

[SHE WOULDN'T IF SHE WAS SMART. IT WAS A TEST.]

All right. Swear to it.

[Cross his heart, and thumbs-up even. 8|b]

[breezing]

[ SHIKAMARU, YOU AND YOUR SECRET NINJA TESTS! ]

Good!

[ She...obviously mimics those actions exactly, and then grins. She'll be running off to track down Aang now, but she'll be back, Shikamaru... ]

[endgames]

[ALL RIGHT, HE'LL BE WAITING. IF ANYONE ASKS, HE'S GUARDING THE FOOD.

But no really, what a great excuse not to get up and go do other things. Ikki, he likes you more and more.]

[breezing]

[ Aaaaand she's back, after getting the grand-parental okay.

Ikki darts up and throws her arms around the relaxing Shikamaru. Here have a hug. ] Mission complete!!

[ She lets him go after a second, her arms going around her knees as she crouches nearby, giving Shikamaru her full attention. ] A lemon cookie, like I wanted!

[ The question is, of course, did Aang pass or fail? ]

[Gotta love you, Aang, but let this be a lesson to you. 8|]

Then that's our target.

[And raising a finger to his lips to show they have to be quiet now, he makes an exaggerated show of looking to see if anyone's watching them.

Assured they're not, he waves a hand over his shoulder for her to follow as he crawls through the sand. Quick! To the backside of the table!]

[breezing]

[ So he failed, huh... ]

Right! [ Said in a very soft whisper, as Ikki took the hushing gesture to heart. She looked around, too, the exaggerated movements more conspicuous than anything else could be.

Time to move! Ikki went to her hands and knees to crawl through the sand, biting her lip to keep from giggling, although the seriousness of her mission helped in that respect. ]
