Pinkie's New Feather Party: The Masquerade Ball!

The night is finally here! Pinkie Pie and friends have been working hard to get everything absolutely perfect. The Battle Dome has been done up to look like a grand ballroom, complete with dance hall and dining area. A small, but elegantly decorated stage is situated in the middle of the dance hall, and is equipped with microphones and speakers for anyone willing to perform. Otherwise, the dome is set up to play songs on request.

The dining area is equipped with a buffet-style dinner selection, filled with food contributed by various donators, highlighted by a large cake at the central table, which is then surrounded by smaller tarts, pies and pastries. Wine, champagne, and other choice drinks are available from ice chests near the buffet line.

Finally, since it was so popular with the last party, the night will be ended with a fireworks display over the dome. Afterwards, Pinkie Pie will be going around making sure everyone gets home safely, before returning to the dome to start cleaning up.

Note: Like Pinkie's last party, this one has a theme: a Masquerade Ball. Everyone who enters must wear a mask, and keep it on for the entirety of the party. If you haven't picked one out yourself, Pinkie would be more than happy to provide one for you.

Logan didn't want to go. But Ororo seemed interested, he didn't have much else to do, and she insisted. So here he was. For his part, he didn't try hard to dress up. He was wearing a simple black mask over his eyes. He had his typical cowboy hat on, tipped down to give himself some privacy. His attempt at looking half decent, while not all restricted and cumbersome, was a simple vest and black tee, along with some slacks. Unofficially, he was Ororo's 'date' for the evening. But he was staying on the sidelines, near the food, with his arms crossed and counting down the minutes.

Meanwhile, Ororo was enjoying herself. She rather liked the idea of getting together like this, and any excuse to dress up a little was always welcome, of course. It was nice to have a night out too, even with Rogue on a mission and Kitty... Kitty.

She mingled a bit, but always manages to circle back around to wherever Logan was. Predictably, he's parked himself next to the food.

"Still at the buffet table, I see." She smiled at him.

[snikting]

Logan had nothing in his hand. For the moment. He extended a claw to pluck out a roll from one of the tables.

"I've just got a big appetite, that's all."

[calmbeforethe]

She barely bats an eyelash, more than used to Logan's unique brand of table manners. (Sometimes, though, she wants to ask if that habit is hygienic: Does he wash his claws after he uses them...?)

"Is the food any good at all?"

[snikting]

Logan took a healthy bite from the roll. If it was unhygienic, it didn't matter. Benefit of a healing factor.

"It ain't bad for party stuff."

She took a moment to examine the contents of the buffet table before she turned her attention back to him. She wasn't particularly hungry.

"They're very thorough in planning these sort of events, aren't they? It's nice to see just how much effort is put into welcoming New Feathers."

[snikting]

"Nice ain't the word I'd use to describe it. Bein' here isn't exactly somethin' worth celebrating."

He'd been in a prison camp before. He sure as hell didn't get a party for showing up.

[calmbeforethe]

"But is it not better for us to get along with each other than not at all? A party would foster relationships." She gave the ballroom another look-around, smiling a little.

[snikting]

"A poker game would do the same thing, 'Ro. That's all I'm sayin'."

[corrinesbell]

Sheena's availing herself of the buffet for the second time when she finds herself shoulder-to-shoulder with a burly sort of guy. One she knows. Heck, she even half-grins at him, with a quiet, "Hey. Having fun?"

[snikting]

"Tons." Dryly sarcastic. He spared a glance at her with an appreciative look over at her dress. Okay, so the women looked fantastic here. They all did. Didn't meant he had to smile. "The food ain't bad."

[corrinesbell]

The men don't look too bad either. If Sheena felt herself available - and, increasingly, that's becoming kind of true - she might look a little harder.

"They did a lotta work on this party, you can tell. ...I'm about as far as it gets from being a new feather though."

[snikting]

Logan gave a small grunt. "I figure the crew running this is more concerned with numbers."

[corrinesbell]

"You think? I think if I was a new feather right now...this many people'd feel overwhelming. On top of everything else." Granted, the flood and resulting confusion were also overwhelming. "So what made you come? This doesn't seem like your kinda party.

[snikting]

"A New Feather asked me." A particular one, of course. But it was true enough. "Wouldn't be here otherwise."

[corrinesbell]

Logan doesn't appear to be enjoying himself very much, even if it is a favor for somebody else. "Somebody you know? The new feather."

[snikting]

He gave a pointed nod to where Ororo was standing, talking to someone else.

"Ororo. Teammate from back home."

[handing]

Sorry Logan. Any attempts at privacy are completely useless against Pepper's surprise that he's actually at a masquerade ball. Logan is probably one of the last people Pepper would've expected to see there, and what's more, someone's gotten him to actually dress up--or at least, what has to qualify as dressing up for him. Pepper's wear is much more formal, with an obvious color scheme to those who know a bit about who she's with.

"Hello Logan." Pepper doesn't even try to hide the amusement in her voice. "How are you doing tonight?"

[snikting]

Why did all these tall women feel the need to add heels to their already generous height? Not that Logan, short and squat hairy man that he was, showed any signs of complaint about this. When she caught him, he had plate of the cake in his hand.

"Oh, I'm great, Potts. Doin' 'xactly what I'd hoped I'd be doin' tonight."

[handing]

"I'll bet." Seriously, how is she not supposed to laugh at the situation? "I'm almost afraid to ask just who managed to get you out here for this. And dressed up too."

Even if it isn't a full suit, Pepper has no doubt it counts as dressed up for him.

[snikting]

The only way he'd be more dressed up was if he needed to be in disguise in a suit and jacket affair.

"Yeah, well, she didn't want to come here solo." Logan gave a subtle nod over to where Ororo was standing.

[handing]

And then it wouldn't really count since it'd be for a mission.

Pepper looks where Logan has nodded, then turns back to him with a brighter smile.

"Ororo? I met her earlier. She seems very nice. Are you and she an item?"

[snikting]

He snorted, vaguely amused.

"What, me and 'Roro? Nah. We just work together."

[handing]

"Really? You know, Tony and I just worked together for a long time."

Just a fact she felt the need to point out. And if she was grinning when she said it, Logan could probably guess why.

[snikting]

He doesn't appreciate the implication. "Yeah? Well maybe 'Roro's got better taste in men than you do."

Tony was probably a better man than Logan, though. Marginally.
