Pinkie's New Feather Party: The Masquerade Ball!

The night is finally here! Pinkie Pie and friends have been working hard to get everything absolutely perfect. The Battle Dome has been done up to look like a grand ballroom, complete with dance hall and dining area. A small, but elegantly decorated stage is situated in the middle of the dance hall, and is equipped with microphones and speakers for anyone willing to perform. Otherwise, the dome is set up to play songs on request.

The dining area is equipped with a buffet-style dinner selection, filled with food contributed by various donators, highlighted by a large cake at the central table, which is then surrounded by smaller tarts, pies and pastries. Wine, champagne, and other choice drinks are available from ice chests near the buffet line.

Finally, since it was so popular with the last party, the night will be ended with a fireworks display over the dome. Afterwards, Pinkie Pie will be going around making sure everyone gets home safely, before returning to the dome to start cleaning up.

Note: Like Pinkie's last party, this one has a theme: a Masquerade Ball. Everyone who enters must wear a mask, and keep it on for the entirety of the party. If you haven't picked one out yourself, Pinkie would be more than happy to provide one for you.

Practical, but noble. Ororo nods in approval.

"It's just as well. I think I like the new uniform better, anyway." she smiled. "It brings out your eyes."

[snikting]

"Most people find 'em terrifyin'." Slightly defensively. He was trying to protect his tough guy persona, after all.

[calmbeforethe]

"I suppose." Ororo lifted one shoulder in a shrug. "I like to think I know you better. I believe some of the students do, too."

[snikting]

"Yeah, yeah." He shook his head, a mix between aggravation and amusement. "Just keep it yourself, darlin'. A man's got a reputation to consider."

[calmbeforethe]

"Yes, yes, of course. I would so hate to tarnish your precious reputation." She chuckled, thoroughly amused that she could see how it bothered him. "Although it might have been dented a little already; you cleaned up quite nicely tonight, didn't you?"

[snikting]

Logan pulled away at the vest and for a moment sniffed. He generally was not a deodorant wearing man. Today was no exception. That usual Wolverine scent was starting to return.

"It'll come out soon enough."

[calmbeforethe]

She smiled widely. "Shall I make a rain cloud over you as soon as that happens?" It would be one way of getting him to take a shower.

[snikting]

"Don't you dare, 'Ro. I'm already good for the week."

[calmbeforethe]

"Are you really? I hadn't noticed."

[snikting]

"You ain't got the nose for it."

[calmbeforethe]

"And isn't that a shame?" She grinned at him for a moment before shaking her head.

"Thank you, by the way." Her smile gentled. "I know this isn't your idea of a Saturday evening."

[snikting]

He was still wishing he had stayed. Even if he did find he liked Ororo's company. There was nothing quite like having a beautiful woman at your side, after all.

"Well it ain't like I'm missing hockey."

There was no open road. Only one bar. And all the wrong sorts of crowd to blend into. His Saturday nights in Luceti tended to be of the Battle Dome variety.

[calmbeforethe]

"Or much of anything else, to be fair. This might be the highlight of the week; there really isn't much else to do here."

Which is a shame, really. She didn't think she would miss cable TV at all.

[snikting]

"For us, anyway. Rogue's off savin' the world."

As someone who signed up for the mission and didn't get called in, he couldn't help but be a little bitter.

[calmbeforethe]

"Ah, but you were saving the world not two weeks ago." She had her reservations about the missions still, but she wasn't about to argue that they were useless. She had a feeling she would end up on at least one, in time. "Let Rogue have a turn. And in the meantime, you get to spend an evening with me."

[snikting]

He realized it was in his best interest to not sound disappointed. Even if he would rather spend time with Ororo in the Battle Dome instead. "Fine. There just ain't much to do here, 'sides talkin' and eatin'."

[calmbeforethe]

"You don't have to stay, you know." She offered, tilting her head his way. "We could always leave early, perhaps stop at Good Spirits on the way back to the house. I know they don't serve your kind of drink, here." The smile she gave him was something close to sheepish. "Consider it a thank you, for accompanying me tonight."

[snikting]

He shook his head. "I said I'd come, didn't I? Backin' out of things ain't how I do things, darlin'. You feel free to socialize all you like."

If it was, he'd have never climbed in that vehicle with Kitty at the wheels.

[calmbeforethe]

Since he put it that way, Ororo decided to take a chance:

"Well then, how about a compromise? Perhaps I could entice you for one dance before the evening ends? And then we can leave any time you wish; I've done all the mingling I can do for the night, I think."

[snikting]

"You know I ain't any kind of dancer, 'Roro."

It wasn't a no.

[calmbeforethe]

She shrugged. "I've seen you learn martial arts moves by observation. I am sure you could dance if asked." That wasn't to say he didn't know how, but she didn't want to assume ...

[snikting]

"Now you're makin' it sound like some kind of challenge." It may be working.

[calmbeforethe]

She arched an eyebrow at him. "Well, if you're not up to it, that's perfectly all right as well."

[snikting]

"Don't go puttin' words in my mouth, 'Roro. I didn't say that."

[calmbeforethe]

"You're right, you didn't. My apologies, Logan."
