EVENT LOG: SCAVENGER HUNT

Who: All you scavenger hunters!
What: Scavenging and other fantabulousness, I suppose.
When: November 24th to 28th
Where: The whole village! And yet also all over time and space...

Rating: P for Points! (Keep it PGish, folks. Anything worthy of a higher rating can be brought to your appointments posts.)

As announced by CJ, the village's immediate environs are divided up according to this map. There are five areas: the Nile, Ice Age, Space Opera, Shogunate, and Gangland. Time-and-place appropriate architecture and conjured up NPCs exist in each area.

Don't forget the scavenger hunt! While actually finding things is ultimatly optional, you can find more information on the hunt here. If you want to claim a reward from the hunt, be sure to link at least two related threads on the new rewards claims post.

Finally, here's a quick rundown of the objects:
- In THE NILE: A ceremonial dagger and a piece of Pharoah's treasure
- In GANGLAND: A tommy gun and a set of car keys
- In ICE AGE: A bone spear and a smilodon's tooth
- In SPACE OPERA: a raygun and part of a robot
- In SHOGUNATE: a samurai sword and water from a kappa's head

Any Day... starting in Egypt, open to being dragged wherever!

[...It figures. For some reason he's starting his morning out, not in his regular building, but inside a tomb.]

[This isn't the first time that Vincent has woken up in a coffin of sorts, though he hadn't been expecting this one. As he comes to, he starts pounding at the lid to try and force it open... it may take a little while to get out, though. At least the noise is loud enough that anyone exploring nearby could hear it... WHAT IS THAT SOUND, COULD IT BE A MUMMY TRYING TO EMERGE FROM THAT COFFIN?!]

[Of course Rydia happens to be exploring the pharoah's palace at this time, curious about the changes more than actively participating in the scavenger hunt. She peers around while having split off from Kain for the moment, when a faint pounding reaches her ears. Turning in the direction of the noise, she heads toward it with caution, her hand on her (relatively unchanged) whip.]

[There's some more pounding and now some very eerie scratching noises... Something in there is desperate to get out, from the sound of it. The lid starts moving a bit.]

[And Rydia reaches the room just as the lid begins moving. She tenses, fairly certain of an imminent encounter with undead and gets ready to lash out with her whip as soon as it emerges. With any luck, the paralyzing effect of her whip is still the same.]

[Breaking out of coffins is something he's becoming a bit too much of an expert at. Vincent continues to push at that lid, and scratch more, the elaborate pharoh's coffin shaking and moving-]

[-and suddenly he bursts free, momentum carrying him right out and toward her.]

[That burst prompts Rydia to act without hesitation, before she can so much as recognize who just emerged. CRACK. Have a whip slicing at you, Vincent.]

[The whip smacks him with painful sting, and he hurriedly leaps backward when he regains some control, just far enough to get out of range.]

...Rydia?

[She freezes, eyes widening.]

Vincent?? Oh, I'm so sorry--

[Here, have a Cura sent your way.]

I thought you were a tomb monster!

[Well, she's close, given that monster part. But no, he certainly doesn't belong in here, and he's never become any sort of mummy. Yet. You never know with their experiments...]

[At least the cure heals the marks from the whip lash.]

I'm no monster of this tomb... but it seems the Malnosso found it amusing to put me in here.

L-Lupin? [Fujiko's voice hikes up an octave at the scraping sound of someone trying to get out of a coffin. It was probably just Lupin trying to play the same old prank he did almost every time they were together in Egyptian pyramids. Really, it was getting old. Then again, given how terrifying he'd been when he was cursed with King Tut's mask, and how there had been some other... rather questionable incidents... there was a good reason that prank always worked to scare her.]

[It doesn't stop her from going over to open the lid though. However, she does have a gun at the ready, and a torch in her free hand ready to burn any would-be mobile mummies. Well probably not, just in case it really is Lupin being stupid, but she'll certainly threaten!]

Lupin, I swear, if you are doing this dumb prank again, it's just getting old. Even Scooby Doo has more creative material than this...

[Shoves the lid open!]

[Vincent is clawing and pushing against that lid, shaking the whole coffin- and as the lid opens up, he comes charging out, still going from the momentum of pushing with all his strength. Hopefully, Fujiko is out of his direct path, otherwise she might get knocked over.]

[This is probably not quite the monster one would expect to find in here.]

[She stifles a small scream and dodges out of the way... which means backwards onto the floor. Good thing she already disarmed the traps there.]

Who... what are you?

If you're a mummy, I swear I wasn't grave robbing. You can search me and everything, I took NOTHING from your home. Only please don't actually search me, I've gone through enough costume changes today...

[Sigh, things need Explaining, don't they? When a pale, red-eyed man with a gold claw on one arm leaps at someone, generally it's best to explain. Vincent shakes his head.]

I'm no native to this place. I don't know why I ended up in there... aside from the Malnosso's questionable sense of humor.

You didn't hear about the shift?

It was in the book. They changed the village and hid items in a giant scavenger hunt. Kind of like a mission, only it's really just a test.

Ah, that. I heard about it, but I assumed I would be able to avoid... most of it.

[Usually he can deal if it's just some sort of environmental change- it's the physical ones that always bother him.]

It seems they wanted to ensure I didn't miss it.

Yeah um... they do that a lot. Especially if you try to avoid it. [Spreads her hands in a shrug.] Sometimes I think they make it inescapable just to prove that they can, you know?

[It's probably after her shenanigans earlier that day that Perona finds herself phasing in and out of the various tombs, memorizing safe routes and how to disarm booby traps before going in there to loot with her physical body. She's in her ghost form now, as she flits around looking at all the gold and jewels with a delighted squeal, but as she's looking at the ornate coffin, well...

Even the ghost princess has to let out a startled yelp.]

[There's even more pounding as Vincent works on that heavy lid... and after a few moments, some creepy scratching sounds are added to that.]

[Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit--cjvvhhdtshajdf!! What does she do?! Yes, somewhere in the back of her head, Perona knows she's completely safe in her ghost form, but that's being drowned out by her panic. A mummy?! Those shouldn't really exist!]

O-Oi! Y-You can't sc-scare me! If you're r-really a mummy, it...i-it won't do you any good! I can still take you down! [Tiny and special hollows, if her negative ones won't work on a mummy. Will they? She has no idea.] I can blow this entire tomb to dust!

[Though she won't because the gold. ;__; ♥]

I am not...

[Vincent growls and gives the lid one more heavy shove. With that, it comes flying open, and he tumbles out of the coffin, very much not a mummy. But there's definitely strangeness in his appearance, from the cloak to the claw to the red eyes.]

I'm not a creature of this tomb... I mistakenly ended up in there.

[Perona hovers, literally, near the lid, trying to listen to the muffled voice within. It's so soft... Hiwever, the instant the lid comes flying off, she gives a hilarious shriek and soars behind a pillar, peeking out from behind it after a few seconds. Oh god, oh man, oh god, oh man...sh-she should have had someone come along with her! That sword idiot or Mihawk or the cook. Someon--

...Wait.]

[Cloak...claws...r-red eyes...

That's not a mummy. Not a mummy at all.]

[With a sigh, Vincent realizes how this must look. It's not the first time he's gone through a moment like this.]

Oh...

[Don't sound so disappointed there, Perona. Though st the same time, while pouting, she's thinking on that. "Not exactly" isn't necessarily a "no", right? So maybe this dark, handsome, scary-looking man is along the lines of a vampire? Something like it? Oh, how she hopes so! Her luck would be so great to meet a vampire in a dark, sandy ruin with coffins everywhere, heee~! *w*]

What were you doing in there, then? Did you get stuck? If you're hurt, I'm afraid I can't help you the way I am now. [She'd have to fwtch her physical body first.]
