[She spots him later on in the barracks, seated on his bunk, and changes her course to swing by and check on him. Without bothering with a greeting, she slides down to settle beside him on the bed, several inches still between them as she glances over at him.]

Looking a little tense there, Captain. Nervous?

[ He looked over at Natasha and he couldn't help but crack a little smile, though it was as nervous as the rubbing of his hands against his pants. ]

A little, maybe. That sudden need to throw up earlier didn't help, or the green skin.

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-03-29 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[She arches an eyebrow at that, confusion flitting through her eyes.] ...Green skin? I've missed something.

[ He waved it. ]

It's gone now, I saw the medics. I think it had to do with the altitude or something. You think with being in space I wouldn't have a problem, but I guess it's different when you're actually in atmo.
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Grin 2)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-03-29 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Quite a bit, or so I've been told. I've never actually been in space yet. [She sounded thoughtful at that, as if it were something she'd like to try one day.

...Preferably not at the hands of alien invaders, however. She could deal without that part again.

She flicked him a faint smirk.]
Did you actually turn green?

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-03-29 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I think so? It gets kind of blurry once the altitude sickness set in.

[She makes a sympathetic sound, although there's still a hint of humor in her gaze.] Poor boy. At least you look mostly recovered now. Or at least less green. Still feeling sick?
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-03-29 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
No, that's gone. Got my shot like a big boy.

[ He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. ]

Between you and me? Every time I've had to get in a fight - I'm nervous. I just don't show.
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Pondering)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-03-29 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Getting nervous before a fight is normal, Kirk. Especially one with so much unknown and on a scale like this is looking to be. That's nothing to be ashamed of. It's just human.

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-03-29 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know, but I'm a captain. Captains shouldn't be nervous - at least, shouldn't look it. If you're nervous, then your crew is more nervous and it just escalates.
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Questioning)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-03-29 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[She glances around them pointedly before letting her gaze drift back to him.] You don't have to worry about a crew right this moment. I'm the only one here and I won't tell. Also I'm fairly certain my Captain gets nervous just as often as anyone else. It doesn't keep him from doing what needs done. Somehow I don't think it'll keep you from it either.

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-03-30 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't, but... I dunno. I always thought Captains kept their cool, looked like nothing was wrong and they had every idea of what they're doing. We're the ones that are supposed to not be nervous.

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-03-30 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That just shows your Captains were good at bluffing. [She gives him a wry look.] Sometimes I think that might be half the job. What is it that has you nervous?

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-03-31 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Truth be told, I've never been in a big ground skirmish like this. I'm trained for space tactics, you know? I've been learning hand to hand, but...
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Listening)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-03-31 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Understanding flits through her gaze.] But it's not your area of expertise. I understand. How are you with weapons? Have you grabbed any of the guns from the armory, perhaps?
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-04-01 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I got some guns. I'm pretty okay with those, but like I said, I'm a strategist, really. I'm not used to it. I'm used to staring at giant ships, things without faces.
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Secretive)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-04-02 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't think there's going to be many of those in the jungle, unfortunately.
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-04-03 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, no kidding. Easier to hide in a freakin' jungle too. At least in space it's harder to hide yourself, unless you're in an asteroid belt or something.
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Default)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-04-04 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
With how big space is, you'd think it would be much easier.
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-04-04 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
You would think that, but an object in space is easier to detect than not. There's not around it, so something be there is enough to raise brows, you know?
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Natasha)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-04-04 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll take your word for it. It just seems like an awful lot of area to be watching.
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-04-04 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, not all the time, but there's only so many places you can really go. At least, if you're looking for someone. Known planets and quadrants. I'm on a mission to discover new places, so it's a bit different for me, but otherwise you tend to stick to the mapped sections.
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Default)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-04-04 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but if you were trying to hide in space, why would you go where there's people? Why a planet? Why not just head out into the middle of nothing?
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2013-04-04 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
What happens when you need to restock? What happens if something goes wrong with your ship? Better to be close to some intelligent life than none.
widows_kiss: serious, curious (Interested)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-04-05 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I suppose it wouldn't work so well in the long term. Then again, most people usually look for a more temporary solution when hiding out.
