Summary: Well. So sometimes the Malnosso actually do legitimate experiments that aren't heaped in heavy plot. This is one of those times. Look, just go read the mod post, would you?

[The first thing that Cilan thinks upon waking up is that today's another 9+ hour shift of serving customers and battling any challengers that came to the gym looking for a badge. Lately it's been kind of stale though--he's been on a winning streak for quite a while now, and it's become a little too easy to take out the opponent's Pokemon. Not that he doesn't like winning, because he really does, but battles are supposed to be a little more fun when it's a challenge, you know? Hopefully there will be an interesting trainer that stops by today, but...well, he won't be surprised if it's another new trainer with an Oshawott or something. He's also pretty sure that it's his turn to buy groceries today, but he'll have to ask Chili or Cress to make sure...except now that he's a little more awake, he's realized that he doesn't recognize where he is or hear his brothers anywhere nearby. ...And he also has wings now, so there's that too.

So after a moment of comically freaking out, Cilan heads out to investigate. He feels a little out of place--he's far more used to the city than a remote village, but on the bright side, this is the sort of stuff that they make plots out of for movies, right? That's kind of exciting, though granted, part of him was hoping that it was just a dream. (Or hopefully not an alien abduction, but thank god he didn't think to broadcast that speculation on the journals this time unlike when he first actually arrived here) But clearly, an investigation needs to be done, so it's detective time~! ...Err well, as curious as he is, he can't just play around, we gotta look for our brothers too. (Also he doesn't know where he was keeping his detective hat and magnifying glass here in this place, so--)]

Chili? Cress? Can you hear me? [Just looking on our own might take too long though, so he might suddenly approach you or politely tap you on the shoulder if your back is to him. His physical appearance is a little younger by about a year and a half or so, but his personality hasn't changed too much by comparison. You can also find him occasionally accompanied by a strange green monkey hanging on to his arm or shoulder in the midst of his search, so if you feel like investigating the Pansage that's with him, you're more than welcome to. (Though why would you, everyone knows what Pokemon are, right?)] Excuse me, but can I ask you something?

[Aang looks over as Cilan asks the question... and is immediately taken in by the Pansage.]

If the question is 'do I like your monkey', then yes!

[...ahaha] Actually, that wasn't the question I was going to ask, but I am glad that you like our Pokemon! [He gives a slight gesture towards the monkey.] This is my friend, Pansage.

[Pansage smiles and gives a cheerful wave, chattering something in Pokemon speak. It's nice to meet you, Aang!]

Pansage, huh? It's nice to meet you! [He smiles and waves back eagerly.] I never saw a creature like that before! Did you say... Pokimon?

Pokemon. [Slight correction of the spelling/pronunciation there, but it's not really that big of a deal. unless that was an unintentional typo but ssshhh]

But yes, that's right. Have you really never met one before? [The monkey appears curious about this too--everyone knows what Pokemon are, don't they?] Where are you from, if you don't mind my asking?

Oh. I'm from the Southern Air Temple. And I never met anything that's called a Pokemon. But I have ridden the hog-monkeys!

"Hog-monkeys"? [Did we hear that right?] What are those?

Oh, they're monkeys that're... like this! [He gets on his fours and does a bizarre impression. Complete with some monkey-ish noises, before he starts to speak again.] They got sharp teeth, red eyes and oinky noses!

[...wow, that was very informative, Aang. Don't let our confusion tell you otherwise.]

O-oh, I see... [Well, we can't recall any Pokemon that fit that colorful description, so--] I've never met any Pokemon like that before, though I must say that your impression of them certainly had an energetic taste to it...

Thanks! I'm sure you'll meet some one day. If you want, I can teach you how to ride them! Too bad your friend there looks a little too small to be ridden.

[...Judging from the look on Pansage's face at that, it probably prefers being small enough where people wouldn't try to ride on it's back. (Plus being small allows us to ride on other people instead!)]

Maybe we'll consider the offer if we should ever come across one of those here. [Which is probably never, but...telling a kid that seems mean.] ...Oh, I don't think I properly introduced myself. I'm Cilan, a Pokemon Connoisseur. And you are?

I'm Aang! And I'm an air nomad. It's nice to meet you, Cilan. What's a Pokemon Connasewer?

Connoisseur. [There he goes correcting your pronunciation again, but he doesn't seem bothered about it.] I suppose it's not a very common profession outside of Unova, but based on our abundance of knowledge and experience, our job is, in the simplest terms, to "determine the capability between Trainer and Pokemon and give them advice on how to become better friends".

Huh? [He... maybe recognises you, green-haired person?] Wh, what is it?

[Who knew that a simple trip to the library would leave him feeling like the normal one around here?]

[...It takes Cilan a few seconds to realize that he might be staring once the other turns around, and as curious as he is to ask, the question "what are you" is probably extremely rude, so he decides to try to stick to his original question first.]

I was...ah, wondering if you may have seen any of my brothers here? They're dressed like how I am, but they have red and blue hair, respectively. [Seen any red or blue-haired guys running around?]

[Sup, guy with a green monkey, you're tapping on the shoulder of a guy with a purple monkey.]

[He was going to ask if this kid has seen his brothers anywhere around here...but that purple monkey is more attention-grabbing, sorry Chili and Cress.]

That Pokemon...that's an "Aipom", right?

[Finally, someone who's making some sense! So many people without Pokémon, so many people not knowing what a Pokémon was! It was upsetting! Infuriating, even!]

Finally! I was beginnin' to think everyone'd gone loco here!

[Oh but Gold, just because he knows what Pokemon are doesn't mean he doesn't have a few screws loose...]

Ah, I thought so! [And then suddenly, he's in your personal space Gold as he's now peering at your Aipom curiously.] What an amazing taste~! This is the first time I've ever seen one in real life before! [He even picks it up for a few seconds to look it over.] Hello! It's a pleasure to meet you!

[Pansage gives the Aipom and it's trainer a slightly apologetic look for it's own trainer's enthusiasm, but Cilan thankfully returns it back to Gold's shoulder just as quickly as he had lifted it up, taking a few steps back out of your personal space as if only just remembering his manners.] Sorry, but you've got quite a rare Pokemon here, you know? After all, it's not every day that we get to see a Pokemon of the Johto region, right Pansage? [The Pansage gives a nod of agreement. (But if you pick up that kid's Pokemon again you're probably going to make us look like weirdos...more than we already are.) And then he's turning his attention to Gold a little more properly than just focusing on the Pokemon.] So, who might you be?

[It's okay, because Gold has more than a few screws loose.

The normal person would probably be put off by Cilan's comments and behavior, but for Gold, it just serves to inflate his ego.]

Heh, the name's Gold, from New Bark Town!

Well then, it's nice to meet you, Gold! I'm Cilan, from Striaton City. [And then gesturing to the green monkey on his shoulder to introduce as well.] And this is my Pokemon, Pansage!

[The Pansage gives a small wave in greeting. Nice to meet you guys!] We're actually really glad that we ran into the two of you--it seems like there aren't that many other trainers or Pokemon here, are there?

[Striaton? Pansage? Never heard of them? Maybe they're foreign...]

Yeah, s'definitely weird. You're the first trainer I found here so far.

Really? [hmmm] This place has a very peculiar flavor to it--I can't say I've ever been somewhere that had so few trainers and Pokemon around, let alone people here who don't seem to know what Pokemon are. [Not to mention the...wings...sigh. He's hoping that he's just having a rather elaborate dream, but in case he's not--]

If I'm the first trainer you've found here so far, I take it that means you haven't seen my brothers here as well, have you? Their names are Chili and Cress.

Can't say I have, and I'd recognize a couple of guys who're like you...

But man, whatever's goin' on with this place, it's kinda creepy.

[Well that's a little worrying. Hopefully Chili and Cress were okay, wherever they were...]

Agreed. [He doesn't like thinking about "creepy" things, but the kid's got a point.] This taste is certainly unsettling, though I'm sure there must be some kind of reason for it...
