Summary: Well. So sometimes the Malnosso actually do legitimate experiments that aren't heaped in heavy plot. This is one of those times. Look, just go read the mod post, would you?

[Of all of the things he hadn't expected early that evening, it was finding a kid loitering outside of the bar. There was something obviously going down in Luceti, but the sheer amount of kids was staggering for him.

None of them had shown up in the bar yet.

Scratching his head and sighing wearily about 'these kids around here lately,' he stepped forward, boots warning of his approach, and stopped nearby.]

I think you're a little too young to go in there alone.

[Too young? Too young, sir!?]

I'm only seven! I'm a big kid. Besides it might have clues!

[He patted the kid on the shoulder.]

Come on, let's go somewhere else. What kinda clues are you looking for anyway?

[He looks to the man and than back to the hand on his shoulder. Back to the man, to his shoulder.

When the question's asked Cross stares up at Cliff, his eyes growing big.]

The ones that'll tell me where I am. 'Cause if I don't find out-I'll die.

[He also sounds completely serious with his last few words. Of course, it's not true.]

[Yes, Cliff knew he was big and intimidating. Don't rub it in.

It was why he offered a smile and some curiosity instead of laying into the snark.]

Come on, I'm sure it's not that bad. Look, come with me, we can get ya some milk or something, and I can tell you where we're at.

[And so Cliff did, guiding the kid along the plaza to the bakery...where he could ge some milk and cookies.

[He'll just skip merrily along. Pretty much big eyes all around as he looks about, still following beside Cliff. The promise of milk is probably the only thing keeping him from wandering off.]

Oh, I do! It's Cross! Nice to meet you, Mr.Cliff!

[Still, this got him interested.]

Cross Blanchard, right? We've got a good bit of talking to do.

[Especially now since the would-be hero had a lot more to learn.]

[Oh...this guy knew his family name. Yup, that bright smile seems to fall into a bit of a frown. Especially about the "talking to do" thing. Oh no. He knows what this means.]

B-but, I didn't do anything wrong! All I did was leave the house!

[He ran a hand through his hair. Having words put into his mouth and being misunderstood was getting old.]

Look. You're not in trouble about anything. This place is just complicated is all.

[Cross looks around slowly, bringing his hands closer to his body looking around like a deer in headlights. Was this guy playing with him? Or was he being serious?

After all, this definitely was not where he was supposed to be. Outside the house and all.]


So...it's normal for people like me to be around here?

[A look. Cliff offered only a keen, analytic gaze as he considered Cross' words. The kid was somehow different back in his home. Was this why he tried so hard to be a hero?

After a silent heartbeat Cliff glanced up at the sky.]

Yeah. It's pretty normal, unless you're a homebody. Is it that weird for you?

[Cliff sighed and scratched his head. He was understanding less and less of this by the minute.]

[There's a look of awe in his eyes and reflects in his voice.]

But, you're so clean! Does that mean you're from one of the rich families too? Or is it because you're from the other place?

Why is it a big deal if your dad doesn't like it? Why does he even care about that? I mean, people are just people. No biggie.

'Cause everyone can use it. There's only a few who can't and nobody ever likes them.

[Now a few things, like Cross's lack of confidence, were starting to fall into place.]
