Cilan

[personal profile] cilantro 2013-12-28 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Cilan's...actually, he's been kind of distracted for the last couple of days, what with Silver's birthday, Christmas, and his brother still not speaking to him very much despite a holiday that would usually mandate family get-togethers. So it takes a lot longer than it normally should for him to actually notice the mistletoe, and that it's not normal mistletoe since his mind is on other things. Once he does start to notice it, however, he does try to avoid them a little, but hey, in Luceti, you can't really avoid stuff like this forever.

So, he can be found just about anywhere on any given day. Primarily, when he's not trying to look for Chili in various places, he might be at the grocery store or elsewhere getting groceries and other things, at the library reading, at the Battle Dome training, or at House 11.

(ooc: And open to any mistletoe shenanigans if you so choose, provided that they are SFW)]

[ So Ash at this time has been told a few things about this mistletoe and have also noticed a few things as well. So when he sees Cilan he has a few question to ask. Starting with: ]

Cilan! Have y' caught one yet?
cilantro: (did someone say "crossdressing"...?)

[personal profile] cilantro 2013-12-30 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, hi Ash. That question does break Cilan out of his momentary distractions today as he turns his attention to his friend.]

Huh? Caught what, Ash?

One of those flying plant Pokemon! I've been tryin' but they keep slippin' away from me.
cilantro: (there's a lunch special at subway?)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-01 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Flying plant Pokemon"? [what] No, I haven't noticed any Pokemon like that here yet.

[...but he is really curious now] Do you know anything else about them, or where they might be right now?
friendshipfirst: (☆ f o c u s b l a s t)

[personal profile] friendshipfirst 2014-01-01 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Ya haven't? I've seen quite a few of 'em and I dunno much about 'em. But I've seen some people doing some-- [ he stops as he notices a Mistletoe in the distance floating there in midair and points to it ] There! That's one!
cilantro: (my burgundy senses are tingling...)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-01 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cilan looks where Ash is pointing...and now he's kind of confused. He doesn't see any flying plant Pokemon, just some mistlet--oh.]

Do you mean the mistletoe that's hanging up there? [Ash did you seriously try to catch one of those...?]
friendshipfirst: (☆ m e g a h o r n)

[personal profile] friendshipfirst 2014-01-02 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yea, that's it! So y' haven't tried catching a Misletoe yet?

[ Yes Cilan he has tried. Luckily he hasn't actually succeeded. ]
cilantro: (this is just a little bit awkward)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-02 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
...Ash, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but it seems that you're mistaken when it comes to this taste. "Mistletoe" is a type of plant that some people like to hang around this time of year. They have a nice flavor sometimes, but it's not a Pokemon, so it can't be caught.
friendshipfirst: (☆ c o n f u s i o n)

[personal profile] friendshipfirst 2014-01-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Eh? But I was told that it was a Pokemon. [ He's so disappointed by this Cilan can't you tell ] Why are people hangin' out under it?
cilantro: (wow I really do look ridiculous)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-02 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[And you believed them, Ash?]

It's part of a holiday tradition for people to stand under the mistletoe and express feelings of gratitude or companionship with others. Commonly, those feelings are expressed through words and physical displays of affection, like kissing or even simply hugging or shaking hands as some people might prefer. [Except this is Luceti mistletoe, so you're probably not gonna get out of that one just by shaking someone's hand if you get caught under it...actually, now he is wondering if Ash had gotten caught standing under it with anyone in his attempts to catch it--]

Who told you that it was a Pokemon?

[personal profile] friendshipfirst 2014-01-02 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
But why do they havta stand under a plant t' do that? Can't ya just show much you think of 'em as a friend without standing under one? I hug my Pokemon and shake hands with people all th' time. [ He doesn't understand this. ]

Gold did.
cilantro: (why are you so kawaii cilan)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-02 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Is that so... [For some reason, it really shouldn't surprise him that it would be Gold that would be telling Ash something like that. Sigh. Still, Cilan smiles as he explains.] Well, for many people, there's something charming about having these plants there to remind you that you should show someone how much you appreciate them more often. And, for those who consider themselves connoisseurs of romance, it's often considered a necessary ingredient for the recipe of love!

[Seriously did you miss the part where he said it was also an excuse to kiss people...then again, this is Ash that he's talking to, so he can't help but wonder what exactly Gold said to him...]

Do you remember if Gold told you anything else about them?

December 28th

[personal profile] tsunsandsteals 2014-01-03 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Silver, of course, is at the Battle Dome doing some training. Just because he gives his team days off now doesn't mean he'll let them get weak! He still can't believe being so nice has made them so much stronger, even after it's been pounded into his head. But he'd be stupid to deny what's right in front of him, so he might as well keep it up.]
cilantro: (this is just a little bit awkward)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-04 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Cilan's chamber that he was training in is right next door to the one Silver was training in, but at some point, Cilan accidentally opens the wrong door when he's heading back to their room after a break.]

Next I think we should work on practicing Rock Tomb to--oh. [whoops hi Silver] Ah, I appear to have the wrong room. My apologies, I hope we didn't disturb your training!

[The Pansage on his shoulder waves cheerfully despite this, though it is a little curious as to why those Pokemon are different from the ones it's seen at House 11 with the Silver there...]
tsunsandsteals: (tsun time)

[personal profile] tsunsandsteals 2014-01-04 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Ack! Good thing he wasn't trying to teach Golbat Air Slash or Cilan might've gotten hit from the shock. Silver turns around awkwardly, it's another trainer. Which reminds Silver it might be time to...um, sorta kinda make friends with other trainers. Or try not to be the jerk among them all.]

Nah, we were just cooling down. ...it's no big deal. [he looks friendly enough, though...]
cilantro: (there's a lunch special at subway?)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-06 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good! After all, it wouldn't be in good taste to interrupt someone's progress with their training. [Though, now that he's starting to actually notice who he's talking to, he'd almost think he was talking to the Silver from House 11, but there's something off here...but then Cilan's attention is stolen by noticing the Pokemon.]

That's a Golbat, right? [He's kind of...forgotten about leaving now as he might be stepping inside to get a better look at it.] That's quite a rare Pokemon you have here!

[...no, he's not kidding when he says that. there are not very many zubats and golbats where he's from.]
tsunsandsteals: (huh...)

[personal profile] tsunsandsteals 2014-01-06 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. But you're not, so it's fine. Really.

[Golbat preens at the attention, but Silver just gives him a weird look.]

Rare? This Golbat's strong and special, but overall they're as common as dust. Think you've got the wrong Pokemon in mind.
cilantro: (cilan please stop being so kawaii)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-06 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[At first, he had thought that Silver had made a projection of one, but nope, upon coming closer, that appears to be a real Golbat. Ooh...]

Hm...I suppose they are common in regions like Kanto and Johto, but they're actually quite hard to find in the Unova region--in fact, to be honest, this is the first time I've ever seen a Golbat in person before!
tsunsandsteals: (thinking. or pouting)

[personal profile] tsunsandsteals 2014-01-06 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ohhhh. That explains it. But...]

Unova? What's that? I-I'm not being rude, I swear, I just never heard of it before. [Since when does he care THAT much what people think? Aside from the important ones?]
cilantro: (tea time is always a good time)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-07 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Really? [But he could have sworn he's told Silver about Unova before. Either he has the wrong person or this is a weird Luceti thing, but nonetheless--] Well, Unova is the region that I'm from. We're much farther away from regions like Kanto or Johto, and thus many Pokemon from those regions cannot be found in Unova or are of considerably rare taste. And the reverse is true too, as there are quite a few Pokemon living in Unova that are hard to find anywhere else. My Pansage here, for example, is from Unova as well!

[Indicating the green monkey Pokemon clinging to his shoulder, who gives a nod in acknowledgement.] There's a Pokemon League with gyms, of course, but there are also different sights, attractions, and landmarks that other places might not have, which helps give the Unova region a unique flavor to it!
tsunsandsteals: (huh...)

[personal profile] tsunsandsteals 2014-01-07 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[And Silver listens. Rather intently, especially about the rare Pokemon he's never even heard of, let alone seen. The monkey looks a bit weak, but if there's one thing he's learned it's that even "weaklings" can pack a serious punch. Plus, Sneasel's pretty tiny compared to the likes of other Pokemon now that he thinks of it.]

Sounds like a pretty nice place. I've never been outside the Kanto-Johto area...it's okay, really. I mean, we've got the radio station and the Burned Tower and our gyms and all. But it might be a little boring if someone from a bigger place came to see it.
cilantro: (shall we allow the tasting to begin?)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-07 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Just don't call Pansage weak out loud though, you'll offend our feelings a little.]

Oh no, I'm sure there are plenty of things that Johto has that we don't have in Unova that would be interesting to see and heat about--that "Burned Tower" you mentioned, for example. Can you tell me a little about it?
tsunsandsteals: (huh...)

[personal profile] tsunsandsteals 2014-01-10 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[He won't. He's learned at least something about manners at this point.]

It's in Ecruteak City. There's a whole legend behind it, three Pokemon living in there died in a terrible fire and the mystical bird Ho-oh revived them. The tower's still a mess, though...I've been there a few times. Thought maybe I'd catch one of those three Pokemon. I never did, though, and I bet my rival's gonna catch all three of them before I ever do. [slightly bitter! Lyra's still a thorn in his side because it's kind of her fault Lance came down so hard on him in the first place. Someday he'll beat her, though!]
cilantro: (tea time is always a good time)

[personal profile] cilantro 2014-01-12 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see! I'm not as familiar with the legends of Johto as I am with one or two of the ones we have in Unova, but that's quite a fascinating story. I'm sure the tower, burned as it may be, might still be an interesting sight to see one day, along with those Pokemon...well, if I should be lucky enough to get to see them too, that is.

[Which...probably won't happen unless Ash is nearby since he has protagonist syndrome and attracts all the cool stuff towards him.]
