It's early morning in the quiet enclosure that will someday become Luceti. The sun is rising, birds are chirping in that annoyingly cheery way that makes you want to shoot them out of the trees, and the residents are beginning to wake up. Most of them are heading to work, either to farm, or to build, or to work the shops, or even just to prepare a nice breakfast for their families and neighbours. Everyone has something to do.

And then, out of nowhere, a couple hundred strangers show up in the middle of the woods.

At first there is confusion, and no shortage of caution, from the neighbours; newcomers are common enough, but usually they are announced beforehand, and never in such great numbers. The leaders of the town are called in to ask questions. The newcomers are free to explore, but any aggression will be met in kind; if need be, the Filial of the past will defend their homes. They're hoping it won't come to that, however. You're stuck with one another for a long time, after all.

Thankfully, there is one man who might be able to bring the natives and newcomers together: Tyr.

...And the other guy, maybe. We'll see.

[Though she's never really used it herself, Kari is no stranger to the concept of time travel. And on a smaller scale, she uses it all the time through her time-delay armor. But moving this many people back this far into the past just didn't sit right with her. John's words hadn't provided much comfort. Who knows how this could change things?]

[At the very least, she's prepared. She's wearing an extra layer of clothes so she wouldn't have to carry them, and has a backpack full of some basic supplies. There's enough snacks to tide her over for a week or two, or even more if she rations them. And of course, since they didn't really know what they were supposed to expect when they arrived, she made she she was already transformed as Hoshikyo when the jump happened.]

[Unfortunately, she didn't really calculate just how strong the barrier would be -- or rather, just how much power she needed to stay transformed. The moment everyone appears in the forest, the light around Hoshikyo seems to shatter into a small burst of sparkles, leaving just Kari standing there, suddenly looking very surprised. Just as anyone watching might feel if they just saw a pink and sparkly blonde girl turn into a mousy Japanese girl.]

[Of course, the second she realizes what happened, she's going to try and get lost in the crowd until they reach the village. If anyone tries to confront her about what they saw, she'll probably try to deny it. But for the rest of the day, she's going to be looking pretty frazzled. She's still gotta find a new place to live, after all.]

[Well...Rei couldn't help but notice that. And that bothers her, because she knows just how important the whole secret identity is! Gosh! So...she'll try and interpose herself between Kari and stay close to her in the press of people.

Leaning in at one point she whispers:]

Are you okay, Kari-chan?

[Kari is glad to have at least one person around her who understands. She keeps her voice low as well, though even now it still has a bit of a panicked edge to it.]

Oh, yeah. Totally fine. I mean, I'm pretty sure I just had a heart attack or something. But yeah. Otherwise fine.

[The words are snippy, but they're not directed at Rei. Not really. She glances over at some of the other people, trying to see if anyone is staring.]

...guess the barrier here is a lot stronger. Or else this thing just takes more juice to work than I thought it did.

[Rei smiles faintly and wraps an arm around her friend's shoulder.]

It's the barrier. It's interfering with what I can do. My spells just...aren't what they were back in our time. It's something to practice with though, if we're going to be here a while.

Yeah, I guess. But I hope this doesn't mean I won't be able to transform at all. It's too tiring being myself all the time.

[And will probably only get more tiring, seeing as the weaker magic also means the spirit's influence on her personality will get weaker as well -- it's not something she's directly aware of, of course, but having her old habits and nervousness around people come back won't make things any easier.]

How long do you think we're all gonna be stuck here anyway? That John guy was pretty vague, but he made it sound like it'd be a while.

[The spirit? Noooot so much.]

As for that, I have no idea. I hope not terribly long, or I'll run out of things to do.

[Considering that anything to do with the spirit is a topic Kari is still avoiding like the plague, she's just going to ignore that previous comment there. Instead, she sighs.]

Well, as long as there's a library, I think I'll be fine. I mean, we moved back like a hundred years, right? So maybe they have different books in circulation in this era.

There may be. There…should…be. I hope. That would be really rather difficult to fathom, not having access to a library. I mean, everything is different here, but still…it couldn’t be that off. [Oh how wrong she is…]

...wait, you don't think they're really so undeveloped here that even books are out of the range of possibility, do you!?

[THIS IS NOW A REAL CONCERN.]

[It's hard not noticing the sudden shift of pink and sparkles to someone plainer, though Ginia's a bit further away when it happens. She loses sight of Kari in the crowd and gets busy later on trying to diffuse fights and make good with people, but she makes it a point to search her out later.

While she may not fully understand the life of a magical girl, Ginia does understand secret identities. When she finally catches Kari later in the village, there's nothing but a gentle smile and a wave.]

[Kari is still pretty frazzled even after some time has passed. In truth, most people were probably too preoccupied with the jump itself to give much notice to Kari, but it still bothered her knowing there could be people who now know her identity.]

[Either way, when she sees Ginia, her first instinct is to pretend she doesn't know sign language! ...or at least, she's pretty sure that was meant to be sign language. Somehow, she can't understand it as well as she could before! Or at all. Huh.]

U-Uhm, hi! [Right, right, "Kari" only met Ginia once.] Sorry, uh. I can't spea-- er. Understand sign language.

[There's a small pause before Ginia quickly pulls a notepad and pen out of her pocket. Whether she's pretending or simply can't understand without translating magic doesn't matter. Ginia rewrites her question and holds out her notepad at eye level.]

[And Kari reads the question and-- oh.]

Y-Yeah, I'm fine! Just... a little frazzled I guess. It's been a little weird figuring out what to do here. I mean, since the village is so different.

[Her building doesn't even exist yet.]

I hear you. I'm not used to cutting through fields where there should be buildings. Find a place to stay yet?

[magicalesbian]

Oh. Uhm. Not really-- I mean, not yet. It's kind of tricky figuring out where people are already living and where everyone else is going to try to go. Especially with most of the community buildings gone.

[Her current plan involves waiting for everyone else to find a place and then picking from what's left. As long as she doesn't have to sleep outside or live with a bunch of icky boys strangers, she's not exactly picky.]

I imagine people will try grouping in the houses first, then rooming in the community buildings. I hope you can find something soon though. I'm in Flame Building/Building 1/whatever it's called right now.

[With roommates already mind, but it's a gentle poke in case Kari wants familiar company around.]

[Really, even if it had been a direct offer, Kari might have still turned it down. Living alone, while lonely, is also more familiar for her. And in an unfamiliar setting like this, she'll cling to whatever feeling of home she can get.]

Hopefully. I mean, I don't really want to take up a whole house by myself, so if all the community buildings fill up, I'll probably just set up camp wherever I can find a good stockpile of books to read.

[Wherever that may be, since there isn't really a library here at all, sob.]

[Kurt did notice the odd sparkle-show. And then it's time to try to find Kari in the crowd.]

[Well good luck with that because Kari is going to be slinking through the crowd like so. Just try and stop her!!]

[wildbluevagner]

[Wow how scuddly of her! But he still has teleporting on his side and makes some short bamfs forward to try to catch up with her.]

[magicalesbian]

[Oh no oh no oh no she forgot this guy was the one who could teleport.]

[She can just. Play it cool. She's like, 90% sure she's never actually spoken to this guy as Hoshikyo, so maybe her identity is safe.]

H-Hey, you should be careful where you do that. You might teleport right into someone's face or something.

Hey, don't worry! I'm a professional poofer. Your face is safe for now. But, uh... while you're talking to me... Are you alright?

[Clearly you can tell she's in a bad mood because she doesn't immediately jump on that professional poofer comment. Though it may inspire a nickname later on.]

Y-Yes! I mean, of course I am. You know, as all right as anyone else would be with the whole being thrown out of bed and then a few hundred years into the past thing.

And a... [He hesitates for a moment, then raises an eyebrow as he tries to describe it.] ...cloud of sparkles?

[DAMN okay okay. Better improvise here and fast.]

...o-oh! So you saw that too, huh? [Putting on the best incredulous face she can muster here. Seriously, someone give her an Emmy for this performance.] Yeah, it was really weird! I mean, it sorta freaked me out, since it didn't really happen to anyone else. Maybe it's like one of those... "shift incompatibilities" or whatever that they're always talking about?
