Timey-Wimey Nonsense Part 1

It's early morning in the quiet enclosure that will someday become Luceti. The sun is rising, birds are chirping in that annoyingly cheery way that makes you want to shoot them out of the trees, and the residents are beginning to wake up. Most of them are heading to work, either to farm, or to build, or to work the shops, or even just to prepare a nice breakfast for their families and neighbours. Everyone has something to do.

And then, out of nowhere, a couple hundred strangers show up in the middle of the woods.

At first there is confusion, and no shortage of caution, from the neighbours; newcomers are common enough, but usually they are announced beforehand, and never in such great numbers. The leaders of the town are called in to ask questions. The newcomers are free to explore, but any aggression will be met in kind; if need be, the Filial of the past will defend their homes. They're hoping it won't come to that, however. You're stuck with one another for a long time, after all.

Thankfully, there is one man who might be able to bring the natives and newcomers together: Tyr.

...And the other guy, maybe. We'll see.

(( It was nice to be relying on his own two feet again, a process quickened with the handy dandy help of some magic. Still Red had to be careful, but with a lot of free time (or what it felt like) in this past Luceti - current and very modern Luceti if anybody asked shh shh - wasting a majority of it on the farm was a plan.

There seemed to be more to do without the same advantages there would one day be, plus his Snorlax wasn't in the mood to help too much with the higher power cap in place -- and from the large decrease in how much he was allowed to eat.

Most days he sulked in his pokéball, though today he was very happy to lap and sulk on his side as Red, Venusaur, and Pikachu found jobs to keep them occupied.

You wouldn't think anybody would be able to smell out a leek when it pops up. But Snorlax does. And he lifts up, eyes darting around.

Where are you, food. ))

((Food, or Ch'Ding, as he prefers to be called, is waddling around on the ground. The trees were too thick for him to spot anything from above, so he's trying the supremely more inefficient method of searching on foot until he finds his ridiculous trainer.

Or until he notices a snorlax. Where there's a pokémon, there should be a trainer, maybe? So Ch'Ding approaches!))

(( In Ch'ding's defence, it may be a small village but it's still got size and plenty of people, and who knows if everybody showed up in the exact same place? First Luceti separates you from your world, and then you from your pokémon. That's how it goes.

But anyway, yes. Snorlax isn't so hard to miss, and with the farfetch'd approaching, the snorlax focuses in on him. Huh, who was this guy. If Ch'ding's looking out for a sight of any trainers though at the same time, he might be able to spot a venusaur further on in the farmland, and a boy nearby with a pikachu.

Still. Snorlax first. A snorlax grunting and asking this guy who he is, uncertain if he'll understand him or not. ))

((Ch'Ding isn't one to talk a lot. At the snorlax's question, he replies shortly: Ch'Ding. Looking for trainer. Young human girl who gets into trouble. Have you seen her?

Of course, Red might be attracted by the loudness of his squawking. He'd never admit it, but Ch'Ding is kind of concerned about his silly trainer.))

(( Human girl? Ehhh. SHRUG. Haven't seen any. Sorry bro, Snorlax ain't a helpful individual here. But he'll motion to Ch'ding's leek and ask, Are you going to eat that?

But indeed, the loud squawking does grab Red's attention (as well as Pikachu and Venusaur's) because 1) what is that and 2) why does that sound so familiar?

And then he sees exactly why.

Nobody at all has to know that Red was worried for a second there when he saw Snorlax with the bird (he's been really mood about less food ok). It's part of the reason for his quick hobbling over, though the fact it's a farfetch'd is a larger part of that pie. Hello pokémon hello hello please don't go anywhere...! ))

Hey...! Where did you come from? Snorlax, don't take their leek, okay!

((If Red didn't hear him before, he'd definitely hear Ch'Ding's indignant screeching at the snorlax's question. His leek is important okay don't touch it don't even talk about touching it.

But then a human arrives, and Ch'Ding sighs in relief, waddling closer to the human. Leaf tends to understand the gist of what he's said, so he's gotten used to talking to humans as if they're pokémon too. Hello, human. I'm looking for a human like you, except a girl. Could you help me find her?))

(( what the heck Snorlax doesn't even get what all the noise is about??? weirdo.

You know, Red's farfetch'd is pretty rusty, but... there's something very familiar about it! )) Umm... (( His brow knits, mouth quirking to the side. )) Did you lose your trainer maybe?

(( Anddd here comes a friendly ol' pikachu to join the gang. Hey what's up you new here huh?? ))

((Yes! Yes this exactly this is a smart human. Ch'Ding nods quickly, waving his leek in a hello at the pikachu. Can you help me? He asks again, directing his question towards the pikachu in hopes that his words will be more easily translated.))

(( Pikachu is nodnodding! ))

Oh, so that's it? (( Alright, what to do-- well duh we know what we're going to do. ))

I'll help you find them! Give me a second, okay? (( He smiles and nods to the pokémon, turning - he just wants to go and tell Venusaur he's going to go wandering off to help a lost farfetch'd okok! ))

((Ch'Ding will just. Take to the air and fly over the area, keeping his leek faaaar out of the reach of the snorlax. You never know, after all. As soon as the human finishes talking to the venusaur, Ch'Ding lands again, pointing with his leek into the direction of the trees. He has a feeling Leaf's in there somewhere... it's just hard to figure out where exactly.))

(( Rude, Snorlax doesn't care that much. And with this whole plan of going to go searching for some human? Bah. He's going to nap, good bye.

So once Red is finished up with Venusaur, he follows the direction being pointed to-- )) The forest?

(( Well, it was a bit of a walk, but... )) Alright, let's go! Pikachu, you ask for a description and see if you can find them anywhere else, alright?

(( Oh yeah, that's an idea! So hey tell me what she looks like and I'll go looking! ))

((She's this human's height. Long brown hair, hat, blue dress. Will probably be looking for me or getting herself in trouble. Ch'Ding has no shame when saying this. It's true!

And as soon as he's done with his description, he'll point his leek at the forest again, start waddling in that direction, then look back at Red to make sure he's following.))

(( Red will follow! There's a tiny limp in one foot, but nothing to be concerned about (in regard to how well he'll follow). Once they get into the village itself though, Red will tell Pikachu to search around quickly and find them if he can't see anyone matching the farfetch'd's description. ))

((She unfortunately won't be found in the village. Ch'Ding walks in circles impatiently until the pikachu's return, and at that point, he'll immediately start waddling off in the direction of the forest. There's no point in wasting time here! He knows she's in there somewhere.))

(( Hey man, the moment Ch'Ding thinks they need to wait for Pikachu, Red will let him know they don't! Don't worry, Pikachu is good at finding him okok.

Anyway. )) You don't have to worry! I'm sure they're okay.

((Sigh. If this human thinks she'll be okay, then he obviously doesn't know Leaf. Her penchant for getting in trouble is ridiculous.

She won't be in the village, he says after some time. She'll be up in a tree in the forest calling for me. That's what I think. Hopefully Red understands a little.))

(( Well he sort of gets the tone...?! But, uh, he's not that fluent in pokémon ok, especially not his own... ))

When I came here, I showed up in the forest too. It's smaller this time though-- (( oh. Red lowers his voice, but still audible for the bird. )) Oh, but don't tell anyone that.

((If Red thought birds couldn't glare at people, he's being proven wrong right now. And how would Ch'Ding tell anyone anything? It's not as if Red can understand him, and Red's a trainer. (Naturally, Leaf doesn't count as anyone. Right? Right.)

As they plod along through the soft grass, Ch'Ding plays with his leek, holding it in one wing, then in the other. Your pokémon had to find you too, when you first came?))

(( ... no, he definitely knows birds - and everything else - can glare at people. He doesn't even know what he's getting told off about!

But watching the farfetch'd sure is cute. Could he do neat tricks with it too like Ch'ding back home? -- oh, wait, is he asking him a question? ))

Umm. (( What could he be asking. Hmm, if they were like Ch'ding... )) How did we get here, right? We were brought here by- (( the Malnosso? Uhh, wait, no... )) somehow. I don't know if we know? It's been a long time since I read the guide...

--oh, and your trainer will have wings too! But she can't fly off with them, so don't worry about that.

((Ch'Ding huffs, shaking his head. If anyone could manage to fly off with the wings, it'd be his trainer. She did know how to get herself in trouble.

Suddenly, he cocks his head to one side, as if he can hear something. And then he points in a seemingly random direction and starts waddling there, full speed! As Red follows, he'll probably start to hear faint calls of 'Ch'Ding!'))

(( Did he say something wrong again? Nooo...!

But hark, a farfetch'd on a mission! Red follows after the pokémon, determined not to lose them. It's still odd to run on his only recently healed up foot, but no time to get anxious about that!

As they're making their way though, he does hear that faint sound- and it's odd; what are they trying to say? Sure, there's something it does sound like familiar, but... if the farfetch'd thinks it's related to their trainer, then now might be a good time to call out himself as they run! ))

Hey! There's a farfetch'd here looking for their trainer! We're over here!

((Someone kinder would've said that Leaf climbed down from the tree. The more truthful verb would be closer to falling. At any rate, she ends up on the ground with nothing more than a skinned knee for her trouble, her eyes going wide in delight as she catches sight of--))

Ch'Ding! ((Pokémon and trainer meet as if they're protagonists in a dramatic movie, running into a tight hug as Leaf twirls around with her farfetch'd in her arms.)) I missed you. I knew you'd find me.

And did you help? ((She asks, finally noticing Red.)) Thank you so much.

(( As the girl comes in sight (shh, don't worry, we won't say anything about that drop) and the farfetch'd seems to hurry more forward Red slows, stopped already during their Moment. There's a certain amount of surprise to hear the name he does (so she was saying Ch'Ding...?), but the sight distracts him from that oddity. Aww, reunions. So nice.

When he's noticed, he laughs, shaking his head. )) You don't have to thank me - he did most of the work. Your farfetch'd's got a good trainer tracker in him. --he is a guy, right?

(( Better ask! ))

Yeah, he's a boy! And we've been together for months now. Maybe even a year. He always takes good care of me. ((By now, Ch'Ding is squirming to be let go, but Leaf has no plans to set him down.))

Are you a trainer too? I heard there were other trainers in this world.

(( Oh, Ch'Ding... ))

That's right-- my name's Red. I'm a trainer from Kanto! How about you?
