Where: The riverside, south of the village
Summary: After several birthdays had passed, a birthday PARTY is arranged for those who missed theirs. At the river!

[With the help of Toph and Roku (and possibly others), the party had been set up south of the village. There were cakes, party tables, and seats out for everyone. It wasn't really a traditional Water Tribe party by any means, because it was meant for more than one person, after all. But it was by the river and swimming opportunities there. Sokka even set up a net and poles for volleyball. Nami and Roku knew to be there, but of course, Sokka has to get here there still...]

Well. Yeah. [A tentative smile.] But it's not like I have to or anything like that. It just means I can, if I want to. But I don't think I'm ready for that.

Ah. [nods in APPROVAL. Damn straight she's not ready]

[Heh. He relaxes at that] I think you're right about that.

[But enough of that topic. At last he pulls out a surprisingly small package from his pants pocket, in shimmering blue wrapping paper.]

It's not much, but I hope you like it.

Why don't you open it when you get back home and have some time to yourself? [Smiles fondly at her. There's a reason for the request, as something in that package is rather private, for her eyes only]

A - present? You didn't have to do that!

[She reaches towards the fragile looking paper - who gives her something fragile? - with tentative hands.]

[And she takes it, smiling up at him and curiously trying to feel out the shape - just happy.]

Thank you very much, Sanji! I'll open it later tonight. I can't wait to see what it is!

[And hug!]

You're welcome, it was my pleasure! [No, he didn't have to, but damn it, he wanted to.

And yey free hugs! He gives her a brief squeeze before releasing her, overall pleased with himself.]

How are you enjoying the party so far, by the way?

And she smiles and puts the it carefully in the bag hanging from her belt.]

It's great to see everyone out here having a good time!

Your brother did a damn good job setting it up. Especially for three people.

Is Roku's birthday coming up? Or did it pass already?

He did. It was really nice of him.

And Roku's birthday... [A shadow flickers across her face.] It passed. He usually celebrated it with a friend back home, so he didn't want to say anything...

Is this alright then? I was gonna wish him a happy birthday later...

Hmm? Oh, yeah - it's fine. I told him that we had to do something special to celebrate, even though.. we'd missed it. So it's definitely all right!

[grins, and brushes past the question that pops into his mind]

Good. I made him a cake for today.

Not that I knew what flavor to use. [defaulted to vanilla~]

Great! [Grabbing his hand and dragging.] Come show me which one's which!

[She'll just be... assuming he made all of them.]

[He kinda... senses this, as he's sure Sokka didn't tell her who really made her cake. It makes his heart clench painfully for the first time since the party.

He makes sure to keep a smile on his face as she leads him to the table.]

Well, let's see... that (http://www.indiandarbargifts.com/photo/prodimage/thumbnail/Vanilla%20Cake.jpg) one is Roku's. [points it out] Vanilla.

... As smoothly as he can, though with a tinge of regret:] I don't know which one's Katara-chan's, since I didn't get a chance to make it.

[She ooos and aaaahs appropriately, and then looks up at Sanji - slightly confused and completely guileless.]

Why not?

[Whelp... he's not gonna lie about this shit]

Think your brother asked someone else to make it.

...huh. That's weird.

[She glances from the cake, to Sanji, and back and forth again.

Normally she'd just think that - well, Sokka was being considerate. Because Sanji had so much cooking to do on his own that...

...no, that's a bit too thin, even for her. Besides, Sanji doesn't look surprised or appreciative or anything other than... someone who doesn't really want to talk about this.

...Oh well.]

Is something going on?

[... He has a choice to make. Either lie completely - which he's not going to do - try and subvert this upcoming disaster, or tell her straight.

And Katara's like a bloodhound. He'd have to lie to shake her off. Anything less probably won't satisfy her.

... Oh well, indeed]

[his face is passive, but at least honest] You sure you wanna talk about it now? [During your party?]

[Her heart suddenly resembles a stone. This is something bad, isn't it. She glances looks around to find Sokka and - well, they're both okay, aren't they? So it can't be too bad, can it?

She impulsively glomps on to his arm. And then let's go, and smiles at him.] No, we can talk about it later.

[...and they will talk about it later, Sanji.]

[Relief, brief as it is. Later is better than now, for once.

He grins appreciatively]

Alright. How about we go for a swim or something? [leave this potential shit storm behind them.]

[She smiles and nods.] That sounds good! Nami bought me a swimsuit! I can go find a place to change. It's a good day for a swim!

Did she? [Well, he's sure Nami wouldn't get Katara anything too revealing, thank the shitty gods.]

I'll wait right here for you~!

OK! [And so, off she goes to find a convenient rock, where she erects a small curtain of ice to make sure that she has complete privacy and changes into the odd, stretchy material of the swimsuit.

And then, she resurfaces to find Sanji. It is a Watertribe blue suit, a modest one piece with a halter top.]

How does it look? It feels kind of weird...
