Summary: The Malnosso are testing their experiments still. Maybe they should just reuse the same test subjects in new ways? Well, who's it going to hurt? No one that matters.

[He points inside the house.] Then go and get the axe. [...Part of him wonders if Caesar can even swing the darn thing. No upper body strength at all, that kid.]

[Part of Caesar wonders the same thing. This time, he sighs, heading right... past the door and into the house. It doesn't take him long to retrieve the axe, and he vaguely considers just going back to his room. He looks toward the, uh, 'front door'.

...hmm.]

[Albert steps off of the porch and away from anything he can accidentally hit. He looks blankly at his hands, still thinking of how easily had had picked up Caesar.

But it was a mild side effect, in comparison to what others were currently going through.]

[As much as he didn't want to do any work, this was dangerous. He didn't think that anything bad would happen, but if he was only becoming affected now...

Ugh. Better not to think of it too much. So he shoves those thoughts aside and returns outside with the axe. The axe that is much heavier than it looks... for him.]

Come along. There's a few fallen trees you can work on. [Don't sulk, Caesar -- he's watching you, even as he heads to the patch of forest between their house and the nearby community building.]

All right, all right. [And Caesar follows, trying not to sulk too much. He didn't want to do this, but his brother had asked him to. ...after he'd already made the decision for him, that is.]

[Not too far into the forest is a smaller tree that had fallen at some point in the last month or two. Albert heads over to some of the branches, placing his boot over the thinner expanse before pointing at where the branch connects to the trunk.] Branches would be simplest for now. Just chop into the branch from a distance so you are not right on top of it; you might end up with splinters to the face.

[He doesn't know that from experience, but giving Caesar the mental image might help him be careful.]

...

[Caesar gives him a look. That does not make him want to be careful. That makes him want to slowly put the axe down and walk away. But he should at least try before giving up completely, right? So he walks over, looking over the part Albert had pointed to.]

That's all?

...Yes, that's all you were complaining about the entire time. [He slides further away from the base of the tree, not wanting Caesar to miss the branch and catch his leg instead.]

I still don't want to do it. [He looks at the branch a moment longer before he decides it's probably not going to chop itself. He raises the axe a bit, but it's just a little branch, so this obviously won't take much effort.

His first attempt is rather awkward. Despite the distance, he doesn't feel like he's far away enough. It is awkward, but it is also successful!]

...am I done yet?

...

[Wow, this is going to be a long time out here at this rate.]

If you are going to complain every step of the way, just give me the axe and go back inside.

Just kidding, just kidding. Lighten up a little, brother. So, what now? You don't want me to waste my time just cutting branches, I'm sure.

I doubt you have the endurance to chop through the trunk, so yes, you are just going to waste your time cutting branches today.

I-isn't that counterproductive? [He didn't understand. But despite his complaints, he... goes to chop another stupid branch as he speaks.] You're far more efficient at this than I am. Don't you want this done right?

You're creating firewood. How is that counterproductive? The only difference is that you will take twice as long -- tomorrow, you get come back out here and start chopping into the trunk. [He'll pick up the branch that Caesar just chopped, preparing to use the trunk for leverage to break it. ...And then he remembers his experiment side effect and snaps the branch in half with his hands.]

I get to come back tomorrow? Great.

[Seeing Albert pick up the branch causes Caesar to lower the axe a bit, however, and watch him instead. When he snaps the branch like it's a twig, Caesar frowns a little, and lifts the axe higher this time.

That strength was ridiculous. No fair.]

[That strength was surprisingly useful like this. ...But also dangerous, from the way pieces of wood fly out as a result. Albert sets the branches down, looking back over at Caesar.] It isn't as if you have a schedule to keep.

That's not the point. [There. Another branch chopped. ...he should probably stop counting, or this will feel like an eternity. Caesar looks over at Albert, and seeing that he's put the branches down, his focus quickly returns to the tree. But before he can lift the axe again, he notices something sticking out from beneath the tree. Hmm.]

...It never is, with you. [Albert shakes his head, picking up the next branch that Caesar had chopped. He manages to minimize the wood splintering by breaking it slower than the first before noticing that Caesar has stopped.] What is it?

[Caesar leans down a bit, and upon closer inspection, he realizes what it is.]

...nothing. Just some stupid plant. Guess it got caught under the tree when it fell. [But even though it's 'nothing', he uses the tip of his boot to move some of the snow away and picks up part of the poor dead plant. He intended to crush the sad little thing and go back to work, but he can't, because that sad little thing isn't looking so sad anymore. In fact, it's suddenly looking rather healthy, like it hadn't been crushed by a tree at the beginning of winter at all. And all he can do is stare at the... beautiful flower in his hands.

...he must be seeing things. An illusion, like the ones from Halloween?]

[He had gone back to work upon hearing Caesar's response, but turned his attention to him once he had set down the broken branch he had been holding.

...His brow raises at the sight of what he can see in between Caesar's fingertips.] Was that the plant that was caught?

I... [He has no idea how to answer that. He tilts his head to see if he had grabbed a different plant on accident. That couldn't be it, though, because there was nothing else there. Still, he knew what he saw. Or what he thought he saw.] I'm not sure.

You're acting as if you saw something strange. [He sighs and walks over to Caesar, gesturing to the plant in his hands.] You pulled out a perfectly well-growing flower?

N-no! Of course not. [He points down toward what's left of the plant. It doesn't look like anything more than a weed.] It was that. I... think.

[...] Do tell why you have to think so hard about what you may have seen, Caesar.
