...You know, if this doesn't last, we really need to find a way to...at least get it back under control. Been playing with the idea of staying in the tunnels, but I don't know how much good that would do.

Yeah, that's the rub, isn't it? 'Sides, part of the problem is that I lost a little more of my soul when I died. Should've lost it all, but I didn't. They brought back what was left of me after that fight.

[Derek eats a little more, looking thoughtful]

Dunno why it's reversed right now, but I know that's part of what's still missing. They just managed to alter my body. Not so sure John could do any better.

Maybe he can make the alteration permanent. [ still, she isn't so sure she'd trust him either. ]

I don't think that's how it works. They're not in charge of the bringing back -- it's just a part of this world. Like the wings.

Dunno about John, either. But I'll think about it. Few more pieces out of me might be worth it if it'll keep me from hurting other folks.

[Derek drops it before it becomes a circular argument; if they know, they either didn't care, or couldn't fix it. If they didn't know, they either didn't care enough to keep track of their lab rats...or they were just stupid. And he didn't buy the 'stupid' argument for a moment.

I'll probably still do some skulking. No point in getting lazy. And I'll check out better spots to stay for...when this goes back to normal. Probably a good idea to do it now while I'm healthy.
