1st Day, Defensive Post

[ god, she feels -- like someone hit her with a hammer. Xion's ... never actually been sick. sniffles maybe, but truly ill? never. not once in her short life.

it feels like she's dying. this flu stuff is for the birds.

also she's green. bright green. we're talking kermit green. it's a little ... odd.

it's difficult -- extremely so -- to stay on her feet, stay balanced and focused, when she's running a high fever and her entire body hurts. but she knows what she's here to do... and she just refuses to be a liability. so she'll go out there, and she'll fight anyone within range of her magic -- but she's slow, barely able, and it's clear she shouldn't even be on her feet, for those first few hours. her swaxe and bow both go unused.

at one point, she will retreat briefly back to the noncombatants, near collapse from the strain.

also, have I mentioned she's green? green. what a terrible color. ]

[Xion is green?]

[Obviously Cheyenne has no idea. However, as far away as she's trying to be from other villagers right now, she recognizes that warm, blue light in the distance as Xion, flickering ever so faintly... so she had been drafted as well. Had she been injured? It was difficult to tell exactly. Cheyenne could only tell how weak she was right now.]

[Regardless, she's making her way over... and making sure to keep just enough distance between them so her powers don't begin to negatively affect Xion.]

[She isn't wearing her blindfold, but her eyes are still closed... and her voice probably sounds a bit more blank than usual.]

Xion. Have you been injured?

[fourteen]

[ breathe, Xion. just breathe. gah, she feels so dizzy... ]

Cheyenne...?

[ gasps a few breaths, taking a knee because it's too tiring to just stand here. ]

I don't feel well... I think it's the Shift incompatibility...

[illusional]

[Cheyenne hadn't been able to see that message in regards to shift incompatibilities so she isn't sure what Xion means... regardless, she sounds like she's sick. And if she's sick, she shouldn't be on the battlefield at all.]

[But the Malnosso didn't really give people that choice, did they?]

If you are feeling ill, it would be unwise to remain out here alone. There is an area for those on the battlefield who cannot fight, isn't there?

[fourteen]

I don't want to sit out.

[ this is a bad idea... ]

I can fight. I want to. But I...

[ she shivers. this stupid fever... ]

[illusional]

[Cheyenne doesn't know what to make of that. Why would someone insist on fighting when they're unwell?]

There will be plenty of opportunities to fight in the upcoming days.

[A pause. They're still a little ways off, but she can sense some third party soldiers approaching.]

...if you insist on remaining out here, I cannot not stop you. However, should you become too ill to walk, I will be unable to carry you back.

[There's a feeling, a feeling of concern, but it doesn't reflect at all in Cheyenne's tone.]

[Once things are cooling down and the position is secured, Sokka will be ducking back to the civilian area to check things out. Seeing Xion there is, of course, concerning. She definitely doesn't look good. And not just because she's green.]

Xion...?

[fourteen]

[ she's sitting. she's too exhausted and weak to stand right now, much less keep fighting. this sucks.

she squints up at him, then shakes her head slowly. ]

Sokka... I think the Shift incompatibility-- [ she's cut off as a dry cough wracks her body. this SUCKS. ]

[markofthewise]

[Man, to think she was looking perfectly healthy when she visited him in his dorm. He kneels down beside her and pulls out his canteen from his pack. Crazy prepared, this one.]

Here, drink this.

[fourteen]

[ she drinks it without question. the water is soothing -- and helps, at least, stop her coughing. she lets out a grateful sigh afterward, but she's still shivering with fever. ]

And I'm green. What, making me sick wasn't enough? [ a little irritable, yeah. ]

At least you're not as green as Haruhi was?

[Or maybe she is, but let's not get into that. He's trying to be reassuring.] I think it's better you stay here for now.
