[It's all the confirmation she needs.]

...you can't see. You-- [Biting off the words before the fury can be heard, though there's low tension in her voice now.] Sanji-kun, it's all right. It's-- it's temporary. [Right? It damn well better be. Her hands squeeze his shoulders gently and then light touch their way down to his elbows instead so he knows what she's doing.] Come on.

[Gonna just...try leading him somewhere out of the way and hopefully a little quieter.]

[Temporary, she says. Right. Just temporary. He--

He nods on reflex. It's all he can do at this point, and now that it's finally hit him this is Nami leading him somewhere safe, he swallows what numbness he can and stills his voice]

Right. [He nearly cracks a sad joke how the worst part is not being able to see her beautiful face, but it dies somewhere on the way to his mouth. Probably for the better. His stomach is churning and he doesn't trust it to settle. So he says nothing after the affirmation and just walks, still tense and trying very hard not to cling at her arm]

[She honestly doesn't know if it's temporary. He was alright in the hotel, so why-- maybe when he goes back inside he'll be able to see. Maybe that means when he goes back to Luceti, things will be okay.

...it's more than a slight possibility, so she reassures herself with that and tries not to think what five days blind on a battlefield will do to anyone's psyche. And then gets angry all over again at the assholes who dared to do this. Not just to him, either.

First things first. She finds a place for Sanji to sit and helps ease him down, before turning to yell over her shoulder.] I need someone who can heal!

[ She hears Nami before she sees her.

After all, the affects hit her at roughly the same time they did Sanji. It took a second to register -- it was so sudden, at first it was like a terrible wound, when it takes the pain a moment to hit you and at first there's only the yawning, empty sense of something being awfully wrong -- but once it hit...

Still. Still. Still she makes her way over, running somewhat on autopilot. She hasn't yet realized her color change to bright green. ]

Nami? What happened?

Xion! [Didn't Xion know healing magic? The last draft...] Something's wrong. Sanji-kun has gone--

...he can't see.

[What the hell. The only reason she doesn't blatantly demand to know if Xion is okay is because Sanji will probably panic more. She'll just...stare some.]

[Yes, he can't see, just like Nami says. And try as he might to ignore the creeping weariness, his resounding silence over hearing Xion is near speaks for just how shaken he is. He doesn't even look up. Or move. His unseeing gaze is stuck to the floor.]

[ she presses a hand over her mouth so that her shivers are silent. she's running a high fever -- and her brain's a haze of illness.

but even through that she understands the quiet severity of Sanji's response. she takes a deep, silent breath, trying to steady herself, and shakes her head at Nami. don't say anything. ]

Sanji.

[ her voice is clear -- as clear as she can make it. she'll say his name again, pronouncing it slowly, so that he can hear it as she comes close. ] Hey. [ and now she's right in front of him. gently, very gently, she touches his face. ]

I guess this is what they meant by minimum risk.

[ don't shiver. ]

[Oh, Nami's not saying a word. But her hand will sweep right into your personal space there, Xion, cool palm touching your forehead. Even behind the ludicrous colour, it's clear you're not feeling well.

...she nearly calls for another doctor before the truth slams home. Both of them were new draftees. They're all going to be like this. This is a Shift. And her mouth tightens into flat anger.]

You hand's warm, Xion-chan. [Said with a carefully flat voice. What, you thought he wouldn't notice? Now blinded, that's all he can do - focus on the senses he has left. And the pull of sickly heat catches his attention]

Are you alright? [He can't help but switch the focus on her, a little unfair though it is. But they know what's wrong with him]

[ ... ah. ]

No.

[ she's smiling, and it's there in her voice -- a scared, uncertain sort of humor. but there's little point in lying to him. she glanced up at Nami, at the hand on her forehead, and gave a sad little smile. the cool touch felt nice, honestly. she'd like something cool on her forehead right now...

Xion drops her hand from Sanji's face and sways a little. ]

I'm green.

[ oh, we all know that's not what he meant, but it doesn't much matter at this point anyway. since the game is up, she'll let the shivering consume her, wrapping her arms around her body and squeezing her eyes shut. normally she'd feel guilty -- guiltier -- about this, burdening Nami even more when she already had her hands full, but she just ... doesn't feel good at all. ]

Bright green. [There's a faint smile to that, because there's no point accidentally taking her anger out on either of them.] Xion, sit down. Would you mind keeping Sanji company for a few seconds? There's something I need to check.

... And green? [He gives a faint nod in Nami's direction - he doesn't mind waiting around. And for all the grimness setting the tone of this conversation, can't help but mimic Xion's previous, shaky humor]

I dunno. I always thought blue suited you better.
