You're faster than I expected. [Have an impressed boyfriend. He peers out briefly, then turns his back to keep an eye on the opposite door.] Besides, if I'm going to be stabbed by someone... [He leaves that unsaid. He cocks his pistol, the reloading of which had inspired coming into the barn in the first place.] How many are on that side?

Slayer's little sister. I pick stuff up. [ the back-turning means he misses her brief grimace. ] Could you just not get stabbed? Because if you get stabbed I have to stab the person who stabbed you, and it's just a circle of stabbing. Also, badness.

[ the gun makes a shadow cross over her face, briefly, and she's glad archie's turned away so she doesn't have to explain it. with warren in luceti, guns are even less of something she likes dealing with.

...but that's her issue, not his, and if it comes down to a couple more nightmares and archie not dying she'll take the first option, thanks. before answering archie's question, she takes another peek outside. ] Two-- no, I lied. Three. But I'm not sure if they're staying or going.

[His voice lowers.] Not too bad, then. Keep an eye on them while I see if anyone followed me. [He hadn't seen anyone going in, but there's always the possibility he missed someone. He heads down to the other end of the barn, stopping only briefly to make sure a body lying nearby is dead.]

That's me, lookout girl. [ dawn tightens her grip on her sword, but honestly being with archie makes some of the tension leave her frame. not all of it because she's not stupid, but she's not used to fighting alone. ]

[Archie is only gone for a moment before he quietly runs back, looking a bit like he's walking on eggshells. He learned to quiet-walk like a pro back when he was a kid sneaking around on his very first ship.] No one's coming from the stern. Have they gone yet?

Stern... right, ships. [ she shakes her head once to clear it-- that should have been an easy connection-- then peeks out again. ] They kind of look like they're stopping for a second? No-- wait, yes. Maybe they're waiting for orders, or something?

[And he's out, taking his time to aim and fire his shot. Once the one on the left is down, he drops his pistol and draws his sword.]

[ dawn mouths the 'three' along with him, and exits the barn at the same moment; she's lacking in firepower, so her first target is still up by the time he starts on his second. ] Okay, the gun is now cheating.

Cheating. [ sunnydale residents banter throughout fights; it's a thing. ] It's ruining my chances of being called Dawn-- [ break to actually seriously concentrate on not getting dead--] Warrior Princess.

[He grins in spite of the situation.] Then you'll just have to be--[Whoop! Just avoided decapitation, go me!]--faster than me, won't you?

[ lightening situations is ALSO a sunnydale tradition. ] You had an unfair advantage! Boomsticks are now entered in the log as not counting, because they are blatant-- [ OH WOW THAT IS A GOOD MOMENT TO DUCK and then the stabbing because dawn is, against all odds, good at this. ] Cheating.

[He's noticing that she's good with some real admiration.] With respect, Acting Warrior Princess, your lieutenant was only using the tools he had at his disp--[Eep!]--disposal!

I didn't say that! I may have loosely implied it, but that's only because I was being a sore loser. [ she flashes him a quick grin. ] No more bitching from the peanut gallery, honest.

[Archie half-grins and half-grimaces and seizes an opening to run his enemy through. The soldier stumbles backwards, and Kennedy takes the opportunity to make a swing at his neck, slicing it open. It's bloody and gruesome, but it works.] Should I let you take care of yours on your own, Warrior Princess?
