New Species Event - Mass Interaction Log

Who: Anyone!
What: All in here
When: Today, Tomorrow, Until April 2nd
Where: Anywhere in Luceti!
Summary: People in Luceti wake up as something they weren't before. An elf, a gremlin, a vulcan, or perhaps a mermaid? Try living in someone else's shoes... if they can even wear those.
Rating: Not recommended for those with weak constitutions, raging hormones, shipping goggles, or people just too cool and attractive for this kind of thing.

No need for LJ Cut! Mass action style stuff all around town. You can use this if you don't want to make a post. Or you can make a post anyway. Have at!

No. [It would still be a mess anywhere else.] Maybe I won't watch, though.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe you shouldn't. [He sounds quite sympathetic, if that's any help.]

[And just because he can, he dashes forward at incredible speed and gives the fallen tree a hug.]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Giles lays down with his chin resting on his paws to watch Archie.]

IF you don't mind my asking...what exactly are you? [He's seen brownies before, but usually they're bound to a house.]

[personal profile] simplestgift 2011-03-27 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Not to a house so much as a family, usually.]

A brownie, I think. I've cleaned a lot of kitchens.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
A...

[Oh. Dear. Giles will just...drape himself over the trees now to try and hide the mess.]

I'm terribly sorry. I didn't recognize you.

You've seen brownies before? I've only ever heard of them.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes.

Usually after they get mistreated by a family and start making a ruckus, but yes.

[personal profile] simplestgift 2011-03-27 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's an uncomfortable thought.]

You don't think that could happen to me, do you?

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Giles pauses to consider this.]

A brownie normally considers itself "mistreated" when the family or household its attached to ceases to do a sufficient share of the household chores and instead leaves the brownie to bear the full burden.

[This is mulled over.]

Thank you, Mr. Giles. I'll keep that in mind. This'll probably be a long week. Or isn't that usually how long these experiments last?

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Usually a week, yes. Sometimes a few days less. I've lived through one that lasted two [and what a horrible two weeks they were] but that was a rather special circumstance.

Do you know anyone particularly, um, tidy? Perhaps they'd be willing to let you stay there for the duration.

[personal profile] simplestgift 2011-03-27 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not often in other peoples' houses, but that is a good idea. [It seemed like he'd run across at least one neat kitchen, but he can't remember which it was.]

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. You can straighten up without being entirely overwhelmed.

The way the village is acting today, I don't think you'll be able to clean up after everyone.

[personal profile] simplestgift 2011-03-27 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't found the right one yet. [Even he's not sure what he means by this.] Damn this. I don't want to end up anyone's miniature maidservant.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what a brownie is, I'm afraid.

And I think it will help you feel a bit less high strung.

[personal profile] simplestgift 2011-03-27 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[A tiny, high-pitched groan, and he wipes at his eyes.] I can't hide in my own flat until I turn back?

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you the only one who lives in your flat?

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Giles gives a draconic version of a shrug.]

Well, I suppose it's worth a try.
simplestgift: (zz Lt. Kitchen Helper)

[personal profile] simplestgift 2011-03-27 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[The little guy looks miserable.] I'll only want to go out and clean again.

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Cleaning is going to be a very persistent instinct, yes.

The goal is to find...[His tail swipes absently at the air as Giles tries to put his thoughts into words]...a more controlled mess than the entire village. Something you can focus on that won't drive you absolutely insane.
simplestgift: (zz Lt. Kitchen Helper)

[personal profile] simplestgift 2011-03-27 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Just one house. Doesn't seem so bad. [He looks wistful.] What else is there to expect?

[identity profile] airborne-giles.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if you find someone you can stay with for a while, it's important that they pay you for the cleaning you do.

Bits of food and fabric and the like. Things you can make use of while you're this size. Nothing very much, but payment for services rendered is very important to a brownie.
simplestgift: (zz Lt. Kitchen Helper)

[personal profile] simplestgift 2011-03-27 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Not payment. Gifts. [He doesn't know why the word bugs him.] So I shouldn't do all the work, and they should give me gifts if they want me to stay around. Have I got it right?
