[This is Sokka. No, he does not get it. He sees the tail raised up, AS IF TO CRUSH HIM, and immediately turns over and covers his head.]

Is she gonna have to spell this out for you?

Apparently, that would be the case.

She moves away from him and draws her serpentine body across the ground. It's not bending, exactly, but it's close enough that she knows what she's doing.

And when she pulls back, there's a likeness of her regular self--as good a rendition she can do, anyway--in the road.]

[After all that rumbling and not being squished, Sokka gets up and finds the likeness of Toph and studies it a bit. He frowns as he looks at it. Then at the rock snake, then back down.]

... um, yeah. You're a great artist. Can I go now?

[Which is a lot more pleasant than what she would be saying could she actually speak. She's not letting you go anywhere until you get this through your thick skull. She jabs her tail at the picture, and then back up at herself. She keeps point back and forth, growling all the while.]

[He follows this... and then frowns.]

Look, if you're trying to find Toph to pick a fight with her, I wouldn't recommend it. She bends Earth - you ARE earth! So get lost!

[Oh, you have got to be kidding. Toph flounces on the ground, looking quite the extremely-disgruntled Onix. Not being able to talk? Not being able to use arms or hands? It pretty much sucks. And least she's get to feel what it's like to really be a rock, for once.

She swats him in the arm with the end of her tail for good measure. You dweeb.]

Ow! [Actually, that didn't even hurt. Probably hurt her more than him. Comic book canon is ridiculous, okay.]

... actually, I bet Toph would think you're pretty awesome. I wonder where she is?

[What the? She doesn't like the nasty recoil thwacking him sends up her body. Someone's been working out.

Oh, Sokka, she's gonna roll your head so bad once she gets out of this mess.]

You know what? I bet she's still in bed. Follow me, big guy. She's gonna love you, trust me.

[Turning on his heel to head home. If there's a big hope where her room used to be, he might suspect something happened.]

[Aha! That's the ticket. Once he sees that nice big hole she left in the wall, he's found to figure it out, right?

...Or just think that she already broke in and ate...herself.

All the same, she follows along behind him lazily.]

[Once he's home, he glances back at the big rock thing.]

Okay, you stay here Rocky, I'll be right back.

[Just gonna head inside, casual like. Go check on Toph and such.]

[Yeah...you do that, Sokka. Meanwhile, Toph is just gonna roll on back to where her room is, and peer through the nice hole she left earlier.

She'll fix it up later, promise. When she stops hassling you.]

[He knocks on her door. Waits a bit, and knocks again. Finally after getting a bit impatient, he pushes the door open and spots a huge familiar face beyond a messy room. He stares up at her in shock.]

You... YOU ATE TOPH!

[... wait a second. He would have heard something like that. He frowns and looks at the mess, then the big stony beast.]

... wait. Are you Toph?

[Well, it's about time! She nods vigorously. Bingo. Seriously, Sokka, it took you long enough. You think you'd recognize one of your best friends when they're a giant...stone...snake.

Okay, fine, there isn't exactly a resemblance. But still.]

[... well, what is he even supposed to do about this? Now that he knows Toph is a giant rock snake, he can help her out... how?]

... wow. Um, you've put on a little weight.

[For as much expression as an Onix can muster, she looks pretty annoyed. Thanks, man. Even if you are super strong, don't think that's going to keep Toph from thwacking you again.

But instead, she jabs her tail from her midsection to mouth. Turns out? Being a giant rock snake makes you pretty hungry. Not that she has any idea if she can even eat regular food like this.]

[Now that he knows there's a person inside, he can vaguely follow what she's trying to say.]

Hungry, huh? Do you know if you eat regular stuff? Or maybe you eat rocks. [There's a weird rabbit dude who eats metal. It's not that hard to fathom.]

[She arches her back in a sort of snake shrug. Regular food didn't take particularly appetizing, but rocks didn't either. So she just shakes her head.]

Hmm. Let's go to the grocery. We'll find something you can eat.

[He just hops out the hole she left, rather than going back around. Time to walk to the store.]

[Again, Toph follows along behind him. She sure misses her feet right now. Being made of rocks is pretty cool, but having arms and legs and opposable thumbs definitely has its advantages.]

[Well since it's hard to make conversation, he doesn't say much until they get there. But once they do...]

Okay Toph, you stay out here. I'll bring out the stuff. We'll find out what you can eat. Understand? [Seeing as she's not talking, he's starting to treat her like Appa.]

[Say that out loud, and she just might toss you up in the air. She waits outside the grocery shop, looking like a great, bored monument.]

[When Sokka returns, he does so in a massive container he found in the grocery, filled with food. It's far too large for him to normally carry and it's quite difficult getting it out the door - which is why he ends up busting through it. He set it out in front of Toph.]

Okay we've got lots of fruits and veggies over here, a bunch of meat over here, and all kinds of breads and sweet stuff on this side. What do you feel hungry for?

[Instead of trying to answer--there's only so many ways a rock snake can communicate--she sniffs the different kinds of food, seeing what this rock body reacts to--

And all she really wants is berries. And pokeblocks. But what the heck are those. Lots and lots of berries. But this other stuff doesn't seem to bad either.

Berries? Really, giant rock snake?

Still, she chomps some of the fruits and veggies down.]
