What's a naiad?

[ the bot assumes it's what jilly is now -- but just what is that? ]

It's what I...well... what I'm pretty sure I am. They're supposed to be water spirits...tied to one body of water. Seeing as, yesterday, the river wasn't nearly as comfy as it seems to be today, I'm guessing that's what happened.

Comfy? I don't think rivers are supposed to be comfy.

[ SAYS THE ROBOT. ]

[a laugh] Not for humans. They are for me, though. At least, right now.

You're not cold?

[a glance down at herself. Her blue dress should really be more suited to summer, rather than spring. And the wet should have made anyone miserable at this time of year, but she feels fine. Shaking her head]

It's really not bothering me...especially when I'm actually in the water. It just feels...right. Like being huddled under the covers in bed, you know?

I don't know. [ she admits, plainly. perhaps too plainly and too quickly and the robot is left wondering if that is the wrong thing to say. she never slept with the covers on. instead she sleeps plugged in. ]

[it's odd, but not that odd. They all come from different pasts and backgrounds. Maybe Buffy was the type to never linger in bed. Jilly's friend Sophie could be like that, neat and punctual and pragmatic as she was]

You should try it sometime. Just once.

[ the buffybot sits on the bank, drawing her knees up to her chin. so far today she has lost a hand and had it replaced, been asked to stay put in a house, and been locked in a closet by captain jack sparrow. maybe her search needs to slow down a little. ] Can you tell me about it?

About huddling under the covers? [there's surprise...but not dismissal. There's something very child-like about the question, and that's the sort of thing Jilly could never deny anyone]

[she's quiet for a second, just trying to think how to put it into words, and then she leans on the bank, chin resting on her arms]

When you first wake up, you're warm. And all wrapped up so it's safe and comfortable and peaceful, because you haven't had to face any of the day yet. You can just relax, even if it's only for a few more minutes. And if you stick a foot or a hand out, the air is so much cooler so that it makes you shiver, and you just duck back inside, pull the covers close, and stay. You know that you can't do it forever and, eventually, you'll have to go out and do your every day things. But for those few minutes, it's nice to pretend like you don't have to.

[ that fixed smile -- the whole time. it doesn't hit her eyes. she just...grins. grins and nods in the appropriate places. ]

Wow. I will have to remember that, for next time.

[her brow furrows just slightly as she watches robo!buffy, genuinely concerned, before speaking up again]

Buffy...are you sure you're feeling alright?

Everyone is so concerned for my well-being, here. It's very touching. But I am quite sure that I'm alright.
