Summary: People in Luceti wake up as something they weren't before. An elf, a gremlin, a vulcan, or perhaps a mermaid? Try living in someone else's shoes... if they can even wear those.
Rating: Not recommended for those with weak constitutions, raging hormones, shipping goggles, or people just too cool and attractive for this kind of thing.

[The body feels like it should be able to move smoother, but maybe that would be in the case with more water. Right now adjusting to her new balance is another matter. She's just not used to that extra weight.

She slowly pushes herself forward, her tail flipper splashing in the cold pooling water.

Maybe she would be able to get over if she just didn't think about it.]

[Albert may be thinking along the same lines, watching how slowly and carefully Raine is being while trying to get out of the fountain.]

Don't overthink it. There seems to be some instinctual element to this experiment.

[Right. It seems easier said then done at first, but then--she remains perfectly still in that position at the edge for a moment as she tries to inwardly focus--just to withdraw, in that effort of Not overthinking it.

And then she moves. It makes the climbing out a lot less clumsy. An almost fluid motion. It's just... strange. And all too easyto pull in and let that other mentality take over.]

[Albert stumbles back as Raine climbs out right near him, but manages not to fall over. He keeps his distance from the creature.]

So you are not confined to the water.

[It's easier to get a look around once out of the predicament. Being on the ground is not very comfortable. It's harder to move around, too. Not very practical.

The boy in front of her had already suggested listening to her instinct. She could feel another odd compelling--communicating might be more difficult in this form, but perhaps, if there was another...

And all of a sudden she feels something there, her humanness, and suddenly the seal's body feels almost surreal-- and weighs more like a very heavy coat that she very much wants to be out of. The head, at least, slips back slowly, almost like a hood, revealing her face as she looks blankly toward Albert with her own eyes.

She still doesn't feel very much like herself at all.]

[And from Albert's point of view, it appears as if Raine's form is again changing, and the skin of ... whatever she was ... was now being sloughed off.

He looks blankly at Raine. Very blankly, like he's trying to process what this is that he's witnessing.]

[Her hair is a little longer, eyes a little more suited to the ocean's coloring, though somewhat haunted, with all that just happened in succession. And of course, wet and damp from the initial fall into the fountain. The seal's skin slips further, though she though she slowly gathers it about herself like a shroud as she pulls herself upright to a sitting position.

She stares blankly back at him for a few moments, for the first time taking in that he had been affected as well.]

I-I think I'm fine. Now. [Maybe. She wasn't sure. She didn't feel firmly rooted.] Did something like this happen to you?

[He shakes his head slowly, blinking as he watches Raine's face emerge from the creature's skin.]

Nothing like that, no.

... mmm.

You're so small. [And those ears... they're definitely noticeable.]

And you're-- ah. [What does he even say about that skin she's still wearing?] You're wearing that creature's skin.

... yes. So I am. [But she doesn't seem too perturbed by that at the moment.] A week of this, then.

It seems that way. [He continues watching Raine, then looks around.] I suppose you have even more reason to stay away from the water.

... yes. [Her voice is a touch absent, at that. She slowly gets to her feet.] I just want to get dried off, for now. Are you sure you're all right?

I'm fine. I have already had time to adjust after my shift. [He gestures.] Back to the clothing store, I suppose.

I see. [Now that he mentions it, he does seem almost comfortable. There's something familiar about the style of dress--and something about those ears too, but she can't place it just yet.]

Good thing that it's in the vicinity.

[He makes sure Raine is following before he picks up his pace a little.] Your physical appearance has changed as well, Raine.

[She follows after him, picking up the pace when he does once she's certain of her footing, though she blinks a little at his words. Maybe she'll have to look at a mirror. She did start this transformation off as a sea animal, after all.]

... Oh? Is it a major change?

[Albert pauses at the question, looking back at Raine again before responding.] It's ... much more subtle than that animal skin. Facial changes.

... Facial. [She repeats the word, then slowly lifts her free hand to touch lightly at her hair, pushes the fingers through to her ears.] The points are gone. And other... things don't quite feel right.

Don't feel right? [He reaches the clothing store door, opening it up and heading inside. His change had been pretty obvious to him, so in order for something to not feel right...]

Perhaps you feel uncomfortable in this form? Whatever you changed into, your current body isn't its natural form.

[She follows him inside, thinking on those words.]

I can't seem to sense any mana, so there's no link to my original body. [She steps closer to the nearest mirror, studying her changed features and the skin.] The animal's form felt more secure, but it was harder to find the words to speak normally.

Do you feel that your form is having an impact on your thinking in some way?

[He blinks at the question, tilting his head thoughtfully before answering.] Not especially. Some part of me wishes to head off into the forest, but I don't feel extremely compelled. It just ... seems like a good idea.

So you wish to return to that other form?

[wise_maiden]

... yes. [Her gaze moves to some of the clothing hanging on the racks, trying to find something suitable. Subtle. Blue-gray.] Some part... also wants to head off toward one of the streams, after I get dry.

[He watches from a slight distance away, a bit surprised by the answer.]

And what of your normal discomfort of water?

[She lifts out a sleek dress, studying it carefully. Almost memorized by the color.]

I... still have that as well. It's just less present when I'm in that form.
