New Species Event - Mass Interaction Log

Who: Anyone!
What: All in here
When: Today, Tomorrow, Until April 2nd
Where: Anywhere in Luceti!
Summary: People in Luceti wake up as something they weren't before. An elf, a gremlin, a vulcan, or perhaps a mermaid? Try living in someone else's shoes... if they can even wear those.
Rating: Not recommended for those with weak constitutions, raging hormones, shipping goggles, or people just too cool and attractive for this kind of thing.

No need for LJ Cut! Mass action style stuff all around town. You can use this if you don't want to make a post. Or you can make a post anyway. Have at!

On my planet, this behaviour from scientists would be outright criminal, of the highest order. Completely detestable. [He shakes his head vigorously, his expression twisting into anger - clearly directed at the Malnosso and other such excuses for scientists.]

But I have already heard from Donatello what abominations can exist in other worlds. I must say that it is quite infuriating to hear that such pre-Terran imbecilic constructs can exist anywhere...

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I would guess most worlds are like what you've heard from Donatello.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Robert slumps.] I had... considered this possibility, but it is... depressing. Like the fact that most worlds here are so... violent.

It is like sapients find it impossible to have a war-free world. [He sighs, looking down a bit. Obviously this topic is difficult for Robert. He's seen more war, fighting and aggression in Luceti in three months than he'd ever seen before in his entire lifetime.]

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The struggle for power does seem to be a universal one.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Not entirely universal. Terra is a non-violent, pacifistic planet. [Oh Robert. He only doesn't recognize it as war because nobody gets killed directly by it.] I cannot understand what makes other planets unable to do the same.

[identity profile] asimplereason.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I'm sure plenty of people would love to avoid the violence on their home to visit yours. But that's not how it is. Once violence starts it's hard to stop.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Robert doesn't have much experience with the concept, because violence is so rare on Terra anyway.

But his face kind of falls at that.]
Do you think there is any real way to combat this, other than perhaps education? [Because education solves everything.]

sob I am a lazy person; just use your imagination to turn winry green?

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Hate is a pretty difficult emotion to overcome. Not everyone can do it, and especially not alone.

Winry is now officially green forever *shot*

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Robert has never really felt hate, true hate, ever.

Not in his entire life.

He hopes that he never will. But Luceti may very well change that.]

That seems true, I suppose... from what I understand of the emotion. But it just seems so... destructive to hate somebody.

JUST AS PLANNED I mean what

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
When a person hurts - kills - someone you love it's normal to hate them. To feel so angry towards them you might kill them to make them pay for it. It's not rational, but powerful emotions rarely are.

muahaha

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Robert seriously tries, hard, to model this as a thought experiment. He tries hard to picture how it would feel to watch somebody kill Donatello.

Something twists in his gut at even the thought of it. He feels mildly sick contemplating the notion.

But...

But he still feels even more sick, contemplating returning the gesture himself.]

... I don't understand how anybody could ever kill anyone, for any reason, to begin with. [He says this quietly, looking at his green hands.]

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
The are many reasons, different for each person. A man once killed my parents after they had treated his wounds. I will never forgive him for that.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
... That is disgusting. [It's an immediate reaction. And it's hard for Robert, honestly, to tell what's more disgusting - the fact somebody would want to kill the people that protected zir...

Or the fact that somebody would want to shoot somebody else, to kill.

He kind of shoves that aside for now. Ethics, rationality... reducing harm... The first situation seems somewhat worse, even if his pacifism screams at both of them. So he turns his rage on that.]

Why... why would anybody... [He shakes his head, not comprehending.] If somebody protected me... Why, that would be worthy of nothing more than gratitude.

Are people really that insane?

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Insane? Is that what we are? Can you say for certain that the people on your planet would act differently if put in the midst of a war?

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. I can say that for certain. [Robert crosses his arms slightly defensively across his plastron.

Winry might recognize that as a very Raph-like thing to do. Funny, Robert and Raph have even more commonalities like this...]

Terrans are not such... barbarians. [The word drips with disgust and disdain.] We would never deem slaughter as permissible and most certainly would never kill a person who attempted to assist us.

... [He deflates a bit a second later.] ... But... There have been no wars on Terra for several centuries.

So perhaps I cannot say that for sure.

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I hope you never have to be certain about that.

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I would hope that nobody had to be, but...

[His tone softens.] It is... just so strange to me. Strange and sad.

[He gestures vaguely at nothing, trying to convey this somehow. He looks rather like a little lost child.]

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 01:50 am (UTC)(link)

Anyway, do you like your new form?

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Perhaps it would, to Robert.

This next question cheers him up a little, though.]

... I certainly don't mind it. It requires some getting used to, even now... but it has also given me much insight into what things might be like for Donatello.

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Anything particularly difficult to do in that body?

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
So far, using furniture suited for hominids has proven to be somewhat difficult, what with the shell on my back. It... makes straight-backed chairs and the like quite uncomfortable... That might go some way to explaining why the Hamatos tend to favour couches.

Being exothermic means I need a heat and light source to bask in occasionally, as well. Which... is a limitation when one likes to stay inside. [Sheepish look, here.]

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right. Too bad it's not summer?

[identity profile] herpderpetile.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I would think summer would certainly make things better for the turtles, yes... though it's nearly spring. Or... close, at least. The biota changes here seem to signify as such, anyhow.

At any rate, the warm weather certainly is pleasant. [Robert hasn't been a turtle long enough to feel the hormonal parts of the spring shift... Or maybe he has and he's just ignoring it right now.]
