New Species Event - Mass Interaction Log
Who: Anyone!
What: All in here
When: Today, Tomorrow, Until April 2nd
Where: Anywhere in Luceti!
Summary: People in Luceti wake up as something they weren't before. An elf, a gremlin, a vulcan, or perhaps a mermaid? Try living in someone else's shoes... if they can even wear those.
Rating: Not recommended for those with weak constitutions, raging hormones, shipping goggles, or people just too cool and attractive for this kind of thing.
No need for LJ Cut! Mass action style stuff all around town. You can use this if you don't want to make a post. Or you can make a post anyway. Have at!

Robert wonders if he could use this to develop a vocabulary for whatever species Ranka is right now.]
... So, Ranka - am I pronouncing that correctly? [Protip: He isn't...] - would you happen to know what species you are, right now? It... seems as if the species choice is somewhat random, but there might be purpose behind it. My own transformation seems decidedly ironic.
no subject
[Ohhh, this is such a relief. She shakes her head gently at his first question.]
Mm. It's Ranka. [She says it a little more slowly] Ranka Lee. And, mhm, this form is something from my world. [Robert might notice the affection in her voice as she says that. Definitely something she cares about a lot. But she glances up at the last thing he says.] A...turtle?
no subject
[Oops. Now Robert's a bit sheepish.] Ah. My apologies.
[Robert fails so hard at reading emotion, so he probably doesn't pick up on it - but the question? He picks that up.] ... Ah, your world has no turtles?
Simply put, they are a kind of animal called a reptile - a group of exothermic, scaled creatures - that have protective shells encasing their bodies. [He gestures to his own shell as he says this.] These shells are formed out of the extended ribs of turtle species. Most turtles are at least semi-aquatic, and most prefer the water. The species I currently am - well, the non-mutated form of it, anyway - prefers freshwater regions, like ponds.
Are you not from a multiversion of a planet referred to as "Earth", then? And if so, are you a non-human sapient? [Suddenly Robert sounds very excited.]
no subject
Ah, no, I've never been to earth before. But all of the city-ships were launched from there! [since people seem to get a little worried about earth whenever she says she's never been] Oh, no, I'm human.
[Well. Three-quarters. Close enough.]
no subject
That sounds utterly fascinating... And surprising. You would be the first person I have heard of who comes from an off-planet colony.
[If she isn't visibly different Robert probably wouldn't be able to tell. He's talked to demons and angels before without knowing either were.]
/LAZINESS WINS OUT jsdklf I missed expressions. xD; use your imagination?
No, the city-ships are in convoys looking for other planets we can live on.
[ - She remembers belatedly that this isn't really true any more.]
But we did find somewhere else we could live peacefully! Another planet. Although I'm afraid can't tell you very much about it.
[They'd landed not very long before she got pulled here, unfortunately]
it's cool 8D
Ah, why not? Were you perhaps not there long enough or something?
[Robert is walking a little, carefully, still carrying Ranka as gently as he can.] Your world is one of the few I have heard of that actually has spacefaring humans... It is a good thing to hear.
no subject
[Normally, she might throw in a positive at this point to keep the conversation upbeat, but she is a little green blob. She's going to sulk.]
Do you think so?
[That it's a good thing, that is. Not that it isn't, it's just not an opinion that's really been expressed at her here.]
no subject
Terra is such an... exception, here, though. It is so different from most of the worlds I have heard described.[His expression flickers into something approaching longing. Or sad. Or maybe disbelieving.]
... At any rate, I am certain your home colony is a very beautiful place. Most planets tend to have their own unique kinds of beauty.
no subject
[Definitely wistful, there. But she breaks off and hurries on, this time.]
But it's really pretty here, don't you think? I've never been in a forest this big before. And I've heard there's even a real ocean!
no subject
And yes, there is an ocean. I have seen it once before... have never actually attempted to go into it though. [Robert smiles sheepishly.] ... As a human, I never learned to swim.
... It's odd that I can do so right now purely by instinct.
no subject
You really never learned to swim? Ever?
no subject
Oh, no. I never needed to... and I am not the kind of person who is particularly physically adept. Even in this body.
... Is it something of a requirement on other worlds?
no subject
no subject
And, well, I presume my partner would enjoy me learning to swim as well. [He smiles.]
... Your form doesn't particularly seem capable of swimming at the moment, though.
Speaking of which, was there anywhere you wanted to go? I could take you there...
no subject
Aaah, probably not. At least, I've never seen one be able to swim.
Oh! Um, maybe near my apartment? I live in building 1.
no subject
As he walks, he asks, questioningly:] So, if the species you are is from your world... is it some kind of arthropod-like creature? You greatly resemble a larva of some sort.
no subject
And got it in one.]
Mm, I think so. At least, this is what Ai looked like as a baby, before he got bigger and molted.
no subject
Perhaps the Malnosso chose this form if you were very close to Ai. [It might be a sort of cruel gesture from them... A harsh reminder of home and what had been lost.]
no subject
She's quiet at his suggestion for a long moment. Really, Robert's much closer than he knows.]
That might be it, then. Ai was there for me a lot of times when I would've been alone otherwise.
no subject
[At least they're at the community building now? Robert begins escorting her inside.]
Do you happen to know the number of your particular building?
no subject
Ah, just on the first floor. Room 2.
no subject
Shall I prepare anything for you while you're in your room? You... will likely need to rely on the help of friends or neighbours to get around, though... that size is relatively impeding.
no subject
no subject
It was a pleasure to meet you, Ranka Lee. [Robert smiles, opening the door, and gentle deposits Ranka on the ground inside her apartment.] You were very nice company...
I hope the rest of the experiment goes well for you. Please keep care... perhaps keep your journal around for ease of speech with others?
