[Would that kill enough time until the end of the experiment? Maybe. Giving Buffy a mundane task to do for the week was less than fulfilling from a relationship point of view but if it kept her out of harm's way, then it was worth it.]

[Jack lets her go. He could follow her, keep tabs on her, check up on her---but he knows that in the end anything he does on that front won't make much difference. This Buffy doesn't listen. At least if she is off whittling, she won't get involved in anything dangerous. After a short while Jack carefully closes Buffy's closet and sets her room to rights before heading back to the transporters. He wants to try again with his boat--see if he can make it more than a few minutes without getting desperately dizzy and ill and jumping into the water to swim for shore.
