What: Dragon Slaying
When: June 30th
Where: The Mountains, up in Jack's Cave
Summary: Saber (and co?) goes to confront Jack about his greed and gold, hoping to pull him out of his curse.
Rating: PG-13 to R for language and violence

[Lately Jack had been having dark dreams and with no one to share them with. He had grown more distant, spending more time in his cave, and it took longer and longer for him to roll about in his gold to push away those feeling. The images he had seen were vague... but from what he could see was a king who had won many wars, a demon from the gates of hell to claim the soul he had bargained away, a warrior shrouded in shadows, and a soldier with a monstrous form that seemed almost familiar to him. His dreams had all come to one conclusion.

They were coming for him. He had no idea why, but he could only conclude they would be the end of him.

... well let them come. See how they deal with Jack Horner.]

((ooc: Gonna have two threads here. One for a meetup before running into Jack, if you guys want, then another one for them to actually arrive and confront him. Let me know if there's anything that is fishy or needs clarified.))

[Saber forsees the tail swipe, remembering how he used it to take her down the last time, and quickly dodges it. She tightens her grip around the sword and runs toward his left side. Once she's close enough she pushes off the ground and throws an upper sword cut toward his dragon wing.]

[And here Hellboy is about as nimble as a semi truck. When he sees the tail incoming he braces for impact, digging his hooves into the dirt. But with the dragon's size and strength, he can't absorb the blow which sends him vaulting into the air, a ball of fire chasing after him.

The ground comes up to meet him with force enough to rattle his teeth in his head. Then, he registers he's sliding down the mountain side in a cascade of jagged pebbles. He digs his right hand into the dirt, trying to slow his descent.]

[For the moment Karai is forgotten and he assumes Hellboy is taken care of. That just leaves the pesky knight. Part of his wings is torn, but in size the wing may as well be the mast of a ship, for it's just as large and many times stronger. Consequently Jack uses it to attempt to bat Saber to the ground, so he can more easily grab hold of her there.]

[Forgetting her is good. Jack's moving around makes this difficult going, but Karai will just...take this opportunity to scale the dragon, all the way to the back of his head.]

[The bat is successful, as Saber has no time to retract her action or change the course of her movement. She is thrown to the ground by his claw and grits back a yell. However, she won't surrender just because of that. Saber still has her sword, gripped in her right hand, and using the close proximity she attempts to slice at the claw. At worse, she could miss because of the awkward positioning. At best, she can slash him a little.]

[All too aware of Karai, Jack decides that the best thing to do is get rid of these pests... away from his gold. So in spite of Saber's sword, Jack will try to grab hold of her in both 'hands', while his two massive wings begin to move as he prepares to fly off with both warriors in tow.]

[Well that's not good. Karai lashes out with her free hand, wrapping an arm around one of Horner's...horns... to brace herself, sheathing her sword for now and glancing down to check on the welfare of Saber. She could take out an eye from here, probably-- but not while they're in the air. For now, Karai just does her best to make sure she can't be shaken loose if the dragon decides to roll midair.]

[She feels the claws grasping her small frame, as she feels herself being lifted off the ground. Crap. If she were to be dropped from this height she doubts she would do well. She does not give up though. She continues to swing her sword rapidly as much as she can, hoping to strike him enough to make him drop her.]

[Jack is able to avoid those swings as he tries to fly in a zig zag pattern to make her lose the sword. But as he's passing over the farmlands, one manages to get him and he instinctively loosens his grip, releasing her. Once he realizes what he's done, the more concerned aspect of his head makes him come to a landing, though not fast enough to catch her.]

[Take out an eye or help Saber. ...choices.

Rope hooked around the horn, Karai drops from her perch just as Jack lets go, twisting her weight as she plummets to swing round and try making a grab for Saber. It's worth a shot.]

[Saber keeps swinging until she finally realizes what's going on. That Jack has let go and she's falling and--

No, wait. Karai. As Karai reaches for her, Saber quickly grabs on to the woman with a tight hand and avoids plummeting to bottom of the farmlands.]

[He notices that and in trying to shake them off, he starts to lose altitude, heading in the direction of a large barn that they were so very likely going to run into.]

Get the hell off me, you bitches!

[She's thinking dangling from an angry dragon's horn is not the safest place to be, really. Especially with a barn approaching.]

Brace yourself--

[She waits until they're as low as possible without crashing, and then lets Saber go, making sure the woman is forewarned. And dropping a second later herself. The fall is not so great at this height.]

[Saber nods and then allows herself to be dropped, rolling down safely as she could. Probably a couple bruises here and there, but for the most part she comes out relatively unscathed.]

[Jack continues his flight, crashing into the barn and demolishing it. However it does little more than bump and bruise, as he staggers out of its remain, shaking the remaining debris off his body as he slowly turns around, to face the two pesky warriors.]

[Welp, chances of getting her vantage back again are low. Karai draws her sword again once she gains her footing, circling away from from Saber to look for an opening. Hopefully this way he at least can't collect them both at once.]

[Saber quickly grabs her sword, which fell out when she landed, and grips it tightly. She then moves toward Jack, going on the opposite side of Karai.

If either happens to glance at it, the sword is slowly beginning to slowly shed it's wind barrier and become more visible than before.]

[For the moment, he pays no attention the sword, taking note of what their strategy is. He deems Saber the larger threat and goes for her, aiming a claw full of sword-sized talons in her direction. He can't do much about Karai, but he makes a clumsy swing at her with his tail.]

[She makes the same move as before, leaping to avoid the tail-- landing lightly on the dragon's back.

She doesn't think she'll get to stay as long this time, but it's worth a shot. In the meantime she'll keep an eye out for more vulnerable places to stick a sword.]

[So she'll be the target for now? Fine by her. Saber quickly stops and jumps back to avoid the large hand, though briefly stumbles as she does. Looks like the fall did have some noticeable effect on her legs. Her eyes briefly dart to Karai and then back to Jack. ...If she times things right, she might be able to buy Karai some time.

That in mind, Saber tries to dash at the hand to strike at it with her sword.]

[Feeling Karai against his spine, he starts moving his wings rapidly, with the aim of throwing her off balance. More importantly, it's to keep her from his tiny Filial wings further ahead. He killed Lightning that way. He knows it's his weakness.

Saber's blow succeeds in slicing through two of the talons, leaving them effectively useless as weapons. But Jack meets that with a blast of flames instead.]

[It works. Karai nearly falls, but she was at least expecting a distraction; she goes down on one knee, and lashes out with a sword to strike at one wing. The large ones, not the small; she hasn't even noticed those yet, they're so tiny.]

Avalon!

[Again, as before when they first met, Saber extends her arm and speaks the words of the spell. A white barrier then surrounds her, as she moves back from Jack, which repel the flames that come to her. Despite this, she feels the heat from the fire itself as she moves away. Using the sheath is a great defense, but takes much energy from her.

Her eyes dart again to Karai and she watches the woman as best she can. As long as she can buy time, they could stand a chance, right?]

[Jack lets out an angry hiss at the wing being cut. It's gonna be a bitch to fly if she keeps doing that. With Saber distracted for the moment, Jack does the old fashioned duck and roll tactic, hoping to get rid of Karai that way.]

[ Speaking of Lightning...

When Jack makes a re-disappearance from the village proper, it's safe to say Lightning and Aerith at least have a pretty good idea for what might have happened. It's really only a matter of time before the two women decide to venture out to see if their suspicions can be affirmed.

And unfortunately... this means that when coincidence happens to strike particularly strong, they're attracted right to the signs of a fight while on the way, where one of the combatants happens to be a huge dragon wrecking up the farmlands. Imagine that.

Lightning's already got her gunblade in its firearm-form out as she races towards them-- but she doesn't go anywhere near the other combatants. Instead she skids to a stop, staring, taking it in... and aiming the weapon right at the beast trying to fight off the other two. ]

Jack!!

[ She sounds - and looks - pretty damn furious. It's a wonder she offers any sort of warning to her presence at all. ]
